My new fiance and I are thinking about joining the DVC. We actually just got engaged two weeks ago at the Boardwalk villas. We purchased the points from a member of this website. Anyway like I said we want to get into the DVC. My question was this, Will the Polynesian or Contemporary become DVC resorts or no? I sometimes see this being talked about but I was not really sure how serious the conversations were. Also if we do decide to join and say I get Saratoga Springs, could we switch over to the Polynesian if it becomes available. I know you can rent from the all but I would rather have a home resort of the Polynesian. Fiance's favorite and all :love2:

There is no way to know. There have been a lot of rumors about the Contemporary, but no official information.

If you bought SSR and wanted to own at another resort you could add-on points at the new resort. Then you could keep or sell SSR depending on your personal situation. DVC does not have a program to trade ownership at one resort for another. All sales by owners are handled privately or through brokers like The Timeshare Store (our board's sponsor).

You can still stay at other DVC resorts but can only make reservations at 7 months rather than 11 months at your home resort. There have been rumors about the Contemporary (converting one of the side wings) but I haven't heard any about the Polynesian.

You don't have to stay at your home resort and in fact, many people never stay at their home resort. That being said, don't buy if you feel you must stay on the monorail or at the Poly or Contemporary. While the Contemporary rumor has been around a long time and could be possible, there will likely never be a DVC at the Poly because there isn't enough room to build there. Remember that there is a big difference between a regular hotel room and a DVC villa. While more people tend to use studio size villas in DVC than other timeshares, you need to look at it as a 1 or 2 bedroom to really "get it" with the costs.
