OMG! WE WON THE STANLEY CUP!!!!!!!!
GO PENS!!!
OK, I know that most of you do not care about hockey. But I have to say this. I hate to admit it, but I this city (myself included) still holds a lot of bitterness towards Marion Hossa. This win was not only amazing because we finally won the cup again, but it was also just a little bit of sweet satisfaction for the fans.
A little hockey background for those of you who don't know (and if you don't care, that's fine - but you're gonna hear it anyways

) ...
Hossa played for us for half a season last year. We picked him up at the trade deadline (after trading away/not re-signing some of my favorite players to be able to pay his hefty salary

) After everything was said and done - The fans here
a-d-o-r-e-d him and after we lost the cup in the Finals last year (to the Redwings, who we played this year again for the cup) he declined a longer, more lucrative signing deal with the Pens.
First he said that he wanted a "longer deal" than the Pens were going to offer him. Then when we upped the anty to a 7 year/ $8 million a year deal for him to stay with us - he turned around and said that he wanted to go play for the Wings because "he had a better chance of winning the cup there" and he SIGNED A ONE YEAR DEAL.

The fans were irate. The players were a little hurt, although
most of them would never admit it. Maxime Talbot (plays for the Pens, and scored BOTH goals for us last night!) has even said to the media that he wished he could line up to shake everyone's hand after the game and look Hossa in the eyes and tell him that he chose the wrong team. Ouch... But, he endeared himself to all of us.

And, yeah the tension was that bad.
So, anyways he slapped us all in the face a little bit last year.

This was just a nice little slap back. We held him to ZERO goals in the series, and the team that he walked away from for a "better chance" went and won it in front of him - on his new home ice.
SO - although I have a great deal of respect for the Redwings, and was terrified that thre was going to be a repeat of last year, I am really happy that we could show the league and the naysayers (especially Marion Hossa) that we were good enough too.
OK - Sorry!!! I'm done now.
GOING TO KENNYWOOD TODAY! Wearing my Pens shirt of course!
What's everyone else up to?
