I hear it's been kinda quiet down there lately.

Sun up. Best time for a duel.:lmao:

My realtor just called to tell me that the appraisal didn't happen at the new house on Wednesday because the power wasn't turned on. WHAT??? We had the power turned on for the inspections. I specifically told her earlier in the week that she needed to go and turn the breaker on for the appraisal. And I just not so nicely told her that I told her that earlier this week. To which she replied - oh yeah, I'll take care of it and hung up. Take care of it??? How is she going to take care of it? It is after 3:00 on Friday. We won't get an appraisal until next week now.

Furthermore - why is she just finding out about this now??? Why wasn't she at the appraisal?

It's just like you said JO - no one does their job anymore. People are just lazy and blame their mistakes on everyone else all the time. I AM VERY MAD RIGHT NOW!!! :furious:

I hate realtors! They get paid a fortune and do little to nothing. They sure don't do as much as they used to.

When we bought our current house, my realtor kept saying, "You need to fax this over to the title company or take this over to the title company, etc." Perhaps I was used to corporate moves and sales, but I am here to tell you during those sales the realtor not once said, "Call the title company," or "go get a copy of your home owners insurance and take it to the title company," my realtor did ALL of that for me. On our corporate moves, the realtor was also at ALL appraisals and inspections, etc.

On our NON-corporate move, she didn't show up for anything. She came by the closing at the end. :confused3 It was a different person, but still :headache:

We bought thru a realtor, but sold our home ourselves. It was easier than using a realtor.

Oh, and we had a huge problem at closing. When we got there, our bank had not released the funds to the title company. There is something about our bank needed to transfer funds to the title company, and the title company transfers them to the seller. They sort of hold the money until all the papers are signed. You would have thought our realtor would have been on top of that.

So I am sitting there because my hubby couldn't be at closing trying to talk to the bank, getting the funds released, etc. Of course, I couldn't get my realtor on the phone to help! :headache: It was really bad! And when I think about how much comission she made on that sale! :furious:

I am mad for you!!!!

NC! Did you get any of that awful storm????

There were tornadoes in Fayetteville- a pic of one right over top of the Sam's there... hope your bro is okay.

And I agree with you on realtors...
ours here was a peach. when we found our house, being in a golf course community, we asked what the membership dues were, she said "You can find out online." We asked about upkeep for a certain type of shingles we'd seen on some homes in a neighborhood here. Again --"you can find out online".

She then told us that her 1/2 of her commission was taken by our relo company for fees.

Seriously--- the absolute best realtor I EVER had was in PGH. She called me every single day, sometimes three or four times a day to reaport to me every step of the way of what was going on with the sale. She even started the enrollment process for the kids into their schools for me. All I had to do was walk in and sign a few papers. Everything was already done for me. When we left PGH for here, she came and paid the maid for clean up ( i had left her the $), she even came by and put out the trash for me when we left for vacation to ChS, right after it went on the market. You name it, she did it. Unbelievable realtor. Amazingly detail oriented and organized. Ex elementary school teacher.;)

As a matter of fact, when we got here, we called her, told her to look at the houses on line we were looking into and asked her opinion of them b/c we missed her guidance and felt that our realtor wasn't up to par.

Ahhh, sniff. I miss her. Wish i could take her everywhere I move to.:rotfl:

Jo

I'm sorry you guys have all had such crappy experiences with your realtors. :guilty: I adore mine. She is awesome. She has been walking us through every step and she has been in contact with every.single.person that we have had to deal with. The house was listed through HH (which we have heard horror stories about :scared:) so found her through Northwood.

I love her :lovestruc

I can honestly say that this would never be happening without her help.

I really hope it works out for you Shelly. :sad2: I can't even believe it...

She says that she went to the appraisal and unlocked the house for the appraiser and then left. Because "appraisers just like to be left alone". What??? And then she claimed that the appraiser should have known to turn the breaker on. :sad2:

DH called her when he got home to tell her just what he thought of this and she just couldn't understand why he was upset. . . She acted like it was no big deal and we would just reschedule the appraiser for next week. So not the point. You know? The point was that with all the other crap going on we sure didn't need any other set backs.

The whole other issue is with the bank that owns the short sale and the title company and who to actually pay at closing and a bunch of other garbage in there. We certainly didn't need a delay on the appraisal.

And the thing is that this realtor is actually much better than the one we dealt with at HH last time.

We would have tried to sell it on our own but last time we did that we had people calling us at like 11:00 at night and asking us stupid questions and had people coming to look that you just knew were not qualified buyers and things like that.

We did get an estimate on carpet/laminate this week. It was about a grand higher than I expected. . . Tomorrow we have a painter coming to look at it.

Hopefully things will progress in the right direction next week. I really can't take much more!! I told DH that I am going to need a Disney trip when this is all over with! Maybe we will be going sooner than January!! Anyone up for November, I hear it's a nice time to go! ;)

Thanks for listening guys! :snooty::grouphug:

Jo & NC - Glad you stayed safe throughout the storms!

Oh my! My kids just caught a chipmunk outside and want to keep it for a pet. :faint: He's a cute little fellow, but he's still a rodent! :scared:

Leave it to my kids to catch a rodent! :upsidedow

Hey Shelly!

I'd love to have a Spike as a pet. That's one thing I miss being down here, is all of my animals that live with my parents now. I go to my friend's place once a week, just to play with her kitten to get my animal fix :)

Sorry you're having such a hard time with the appraisal and realtor

Hi Mari, RF, Anyone else that's here! :wave2:

And for Sea (as well as everyone else) - Here's some pics I think you'll enjoy :)

I went to Star Wars Weekend yesterday. Got up for rope drop even! It's the first time I've ever been at rope drop as a non-CM working. The lines were crazy and it was very hot, but I really wanted to check it out, so I stayed at Studios til about 3. I only rode TSM and Star Tours, both of which I FP'ed. Even with the crowds and heat, it was fun, and now I really want to watch the Star Wars movies. :)

I ended my outing with a trip to Coldstone.....YUMMY! :)

Hope everyone has a fun weekend!

OMG! WE WON THE STANLEY CUP!!!!!!!!

GO PENS!!!

OK, I know that most of you do not care about hockey. But I have to say this. I hate to admit it, but I this city (myself included) still holds a lot of bitterness towards Marion Hossa. This win was not only amazing because we finally won the cup again, but it was also just a little bit of sweet satisfaction for the fans.

A little hockey background for those of you who don't know (and if you don't care, that's fine - but you're gonna hear it anyways ) ...

Hossa played for us for half a season last year. We picked him up at the trade deadline (after trading away/not re-signing some of my favorite players to be able to pay his hefty salary :guilty:) After everything was said and done - The fans here a-d-o-r-e-d him and after we lost the cup in the Finals last year (to the Redwings, who we played this year again for the cup) he declined a longer, more lucrative signing deal with the Pens.

First he said that he wanted a "longer deal" than the Pens were going to offer him. Then when we upped the anty to a 7 year/ $8 million a year deal for him to stay with us - he turned around and said that he wanted to go play for the Wings because "he had a better chance of winning the cup there" and he SIGNED A ONE YEAR DEAL. The fans were irate. The players were a little hurt, although most of them would never admit it. Maxime Talbot (plays for the Pens, and scored BOTH goals for us last night!) has even said to the media that he wished he could line up to shake everyone's hand after the game and look Hossa in the eyes and tell him that he chose the wrong team. Ouch... But, he endeared himself to all of us. :lovestruc And, yeah the tension was that bad.

So, anyways he slapped us all in the face a little bit last year. :sad1: This was just a nice little slap back. We held him to ZERO goals in the series, and the team that he walked away from for a "better chance" went and won it in front of him - on his new home ice.

SO - although I have a great deal of respect for the Redwings, and was terrified that thre was going to be a repeat of last year, I am really happy that we could show the league and the naysayers (especially Marion Hossa) that we were good enough too.

OK - Sorry!!! I'm done now. :mic:

GOING TO KENNYWOOD TODAY! Wearing my Pens shirt of course! ;)

What's everyone else up to? popcorn::

Yay Cold Birds! I mean, Yay Pens!!!!!!!:goodvibes

We watched a good portion of the game last night. The Pens absolutely were outplaying the Wings all over the ice. it was fun to watch and Drew was LIVID when Crosby got hurt.

RF- have fun at Kennywood- hope you're taking pics, we want to see it.

Shelly- hope everything starts settling down for you guys. This move has been a very painful one for you. It seems that soemtimes when you move everything goes soooo easily and then other times you want to pull your hair out. When we moved from here to PGH, that's how it was. It got so bad that we ended up in the rental b/c we couldn't take it anymore.
ANd then of course when it's not an easy move you start wondering and second guessing yourself about whether or not it was the right decision. At least, that's how I am.
I hope and pray that you will get a resolution to this soon. And you DO have a reason to be angry with your realtor. Their main purpose is to make a move as pain free as possible and that's not happening in your situation. And it is a big deal that the appraisal didn't get done. If it wasn't a big deal in the first place, then why didn't she schedule it for next week to begin with?

Off my soapbox now. I've just moved about five too many times in 12 years and have so little patience for the entire process. MCat wrote a school paper and she started it out with "In my lifetime I have lived in 8 different houses." I thought, my word.

Sulley- I really enjoyed your pics of Star Wars. DOn't know who any of those strange looking peeps are but anyway, I enjoyed it nonetheless. :goodvibes The white dudes on top of the buildings with guns would have scared me, LOL.

So I have been packing all morning and doing laundry.

I'll try to check in when I can, I'm taking my computer, but if I don't before I leave, I'll try to log on at least sometime before I go to Hawaii.

Have a good rest of the day and weekend.

Jo

Hello MAYers!

Thanks everyone for your support and for listening to all my troubles.

You are right JO, I have begun to question if this move was the right decision because of all the troubles we have been having. I know if this actually does happen in the end we will have a very nice house (after much cleaning, new paint, and new carpet), but it sure is easy to question it right now. Especially since we are only moving 7 miles!

So we spent 6 hours cleaning the new house today. And we are only about half way done. :faint: What a disgusting mess. It's hard to imagine what went on in that house and how anyone could let such a nice house get so dirty & gross. :scared:

The kids nearly caught a chipmunk at Epcot once, so there is hope that you could get a little pet Spike of your own! :rotfl:

The boys love all of your Star Wars Weekend pics! They looked at each one and named all the characters! Thanks for sharing! :goodvibes

Well you know, Shelly, that I totally love the WL. Love love love it.

The rooms, I have been into b/c our friends from SC were staying there when we went last MAY.
The bunk beds are neat. They had their room on the ground foor, overlooking the pool area.
I thought the room was an okay size. Just okay. The bunk beds are huge and take up a lot of the room. Can't remember now if they had a king size bed or not as well.
But there were 4 of them and there are 4 of you so I think it would be okay.

Transportation is fun... take the boat to and from the MK, hop the monorail once at MK to Ep, or take the bus from the hotel to AK/DHS.

If you think about it, either way, you have to travel to a park somehow b/c all the parks aren't near one another. I don't think of transportation as being a big deal either way.

And while I love EP- my fave park and I totally missed it big time while in DL....
the BC area would be my last choice to stay at.;)

The WL is very cozy and beautiful and nice.

Love it.

Jo

Sorry, never responded to this yesterday with all my "issues".

The big furniture in the little rooms is a concern of mine at WL. But the balcony would be nice! And the kids would love the bunk-beds.

I would still much rather stay in the Epcot/Boardwalk area - just love it there!

Oh well, we'll see. . . At this point I would just be happy to get there!

Good Saturday Evening Mayers!

Shelly - Sorry to hear about your realtor woes...such a pain.

Sulley - Awesome SW pix! Thanks for sharing. I wish they would do this out here at DLR sometime. It would be a lot of fun to get our pics with Jedi Mickey.

Jo - Still waiting for another DL report...you left us in line for a ride, must have been a LOOOOOOOOONG wait time....popcorn::

RF - Congrats to your Pens. Can't wait to read and see your pix from Kennywood.
