"There's a 104 days of summer vacation..." updated 12/16 page 13!!

Have I been lurking??? I can't find my last post and I know I read the installment....if so, I apologize! I just love your kiddos...they are just adorable! I love the Land ride too! I haven't been on the Golf Ball since I was in college but I hope to go someday soonerish! :thumbsup2 Sorry your little one didn't get picked by Crush...what a great question too!

We may have to work on a demerit system for you!:rotfl:

Thanks about the kids...I kinda think they are cute too...somedays...most days...okay, all the time!

I like the golf ball...but I have to admit, it was cooler the very first time!

Cute update! Poor little one didn't get to talk to crush. Hopefully you'll go back before 5 yrs.

Cute outfits of course:cool1:

Thanks!! He tends to take things to serious and too much to heart!

I finally got to catch up on your TR. I took notes!

I'm sorry your dad couldn't be veteran of the day. You are so sweet for trying to do that for him!

Thanks for the sewing machine shot!! Love the kid's outfits!

Since you have very good reasons, I understand why you like IASW. How cool that you got picked to go up to the front of the line!!

The carousel was closed when we were there in May. :sad2:

Was there any smoochin' going on in that TTA ride? ;)

Wow! I've never seen Buzz in such good form! Cool pictures!

Your poor back after the race cars!

I love your sappiness over Moonks princess wish!

Funny how everyone has a picture inside the shark's mouth!

I'm sure the mom who posed her kids for a gazillion pictures didn't get a better shot than you did! Your kids are so cute!

Cute spaceship earth picture!

Could I possibly use any more exclamation points?!

Wow...you did take notes!

i'm telling you...the whole IASW world thing really was weird the more I thought it about it. The guy just came up and grabbed me and he skipped all the way down the ramp! I think I laughed the whole way, not real sure I even worried about the rest of the crew bwing with me or not! I was going!!!

Oh no...I'm married to a no PDA type of guy...it takes it out of him to hold my hand in public for like a split second!!! DRIVES ME NUTS!!!! i mean I'm not asking for anything, just act like you like me when we go places!:confused3 When he does, and it is RARE, he will put his arm around me and kiss me on the top of my head...he did that a time or two at WDW when things were going really well. But, i would not trade him for anybody! i've had the worst of the worst and he showed me too much PDA!

I think I could try to beat you on the exclamation points if I try. I tend to use them too much too!

Hi Kim..

We are back from Johnson and Wales and orientation....

34 more days to go till move in...I was informed of that by DS this morning...

I thought of you as we drove over the Yadkin Bridge (both times)..one side (heading towards Salisbury) always seems worse then the other.:scared1:

We almost stopped in Salisbury, I was informed by Ds that there was a Starbucks there, did we want to go...mind you we had just finished the one we bought on campus...so I kept right on driving..and waved to you!!!

Hope your summer is going well..

Beth

So glad all went well at orientation...what is he going there for anyway, forgot to ask!

Yes, I agree, heading south over the bridge is much worse. Something is wrong with the way the road banks into the bridge off of the curve...look at the guardrail...there have been lots of misses!!!:scared1:

That is MY Starbuck's...but if I must share...I will let you visti now and then>:lmao: Actually, i'm tryin to come off all that stuff and get some pounds off. For the first time I got DH doing it with me, so no SB for now!:guilty:

Don't fret over the move in! At least he is close by! Sorta!:goodvibes

Would you guess that we came out of there to the potty AGAIN!!! These people and their bladders!

It was time to use our FP to Soarin, so we headed back over there. We got in line and headed pretty quickly up to the front. By now, my family was getting the hang of the whole FP thing. They understood how much time it was saving us just standing in line.

We got to the area where they line you up and I was SOOOO excited when I realized we would be in the first row! Yippeeeeee! Score one for us!

As we were being loaded, I, as I always do, read the nametag of the CM. I love to see where they are from. This one was from Raleigh, NC! I told her where we were from and it was fun just chatting.

After we were seated, it took a few minutes because there was a poor little girl kicking and screaming behind us to get off….NOW!!!! I felt bad for her and her parents.
She finally calmed down and we were off.

As I said in the beginning, my Dad was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. HE LOVED THIS RIDE!!!! It is something in those guys blood, they love being up in the air, floating around. He talked to Big Boy most of the ride, explaining all the things you would be doing if you were flying the helicopter for this ride.

It was great…for a moment, I think my Dad was a kid!:goodvibes

We all got off, so excited. It really is a great ride….wish we had done it again looking back now.

We left out from there and headed over to “Imagination”…I LOVE FIGMENT!!!

HATE THE NEW RIDE!!! :headache: Why oh why did they change my favorite ride in Epcot?

Then it was over to “Honey I shrunk the Audience”:3dglasses …my disclaimer…I have never been in this 3-D before. I had no idea what I was about to do to my children!!!!!

You can imagine now, the screams that came out of Big Boy! :scared1: Even Bits crawled into my lap!

When we came out…water time!!!!
P6170010.jpg

P6170012.jpg

By now, it was lunch time. I will add right now, I did not research lunch at Epcot AT ALL!!! BAD MOVE! Moonk wanted Italian. So, we went to the Friendship boat…smart am I to not make everybody walk!

We went over to Italy…ummm, bad move! :sad2: REALLY bad move. First, we had no reservation, I didn’t see and CS, and it was now high noon and BLAZING HOT. Who does everyone turn on…yep!

So, DH takes over…yep!:headache: He says there has to be something this way…without a map! He heads toward Germany…what does he think our kids will eat there?

I asked at the podium…yep nothing they will eat. :rolleyes1 I said let me run to America, I thought there was CS.

So, I did, not running, but I walked fast. Went in checked it out. All the needed items for my picky kids. PB&J for Bits, Chicken Nuggets and fries for the other two. SCORE! I called the crew and told them where to meet me. I was not walking back to find them.

While waiting I noticed that there would be a cover band for The Bee Gees! We LOVE 70’s music and we TOTURE our children with it! I took note that if we ate then went into the American pavilion, we shouldn’t have to wait too long.

While I waited I also struck up a conversation with a CM collecting the garbage. What a wonderful person she was. She was only a few short months away from retiring. She had worked there for 15 years. She wasn’t sure what she wanted to do after she retired, but she would miss working at WDW and meeting people. Really hope she gets to just enjoy her family! She said she had a bunch of grandbabies!

Finally, the family joined me, and I bid a fond farewell to my new friend. We got lunch and this is where I also used the whole double cheeseburger with an extra bun trick for me and DH. He couldn’t believe I knew this! I won instant save money points! Thank you DIS!:disrocks:

After we lunched, we headed into the American Pavilion. The voices of America were singing. BEAUTIFUL!

It wasn’t long before the show started. Nice show, just kinda skimmed thru a lot and left out some things that I think would be better. But overall, pretty good. DH got a decent nap.:lmao:

When we came out, we had about 30 minutes before the Bee Gees show, so we grabbed some frozen drinks for the kids. Moonk said this blue was not so good. But it killed time before the show.

While waiting, me and DH started talking about what fun we were having. About how much fun the kids were having. And then he uttered the words…”I think waiting 5 years to come back is just too long. I think maybe in three years.”

AHHH!!! Yipee! Three years…not what I was hoping for, but 3 is better than 5!

When it was time for the Bee Gees show we went and found our seats…in the shade! I was glad for that.

The music was great! They even did some Andy Gibb!!! That is about the time, one of the guys in the band spotted Moonk and how completely bored she was…and yep, he called he out! He asked if she had heard this music before, she gave a little nod then an eye roll.

DSC01359.jpg

Another band member said “Honey, it’s just a history lesson!” :lmao:

Poor Moonk was embarrassed and hid her face. It was really cute.

Great update! I can imagine Moonk was embarrassed! I know I would be.

:rotfl2: about Moonk getting called out by the band member! And it's great to hear that your dad enjoyed himself so much. Must've been great for him to feel like a kid again. :goodvibes

~Beka~

Too funny about the band calling her out. Gotta love a good embarrassement for your kids. :rotfl:

We had a bad lunch experience at Epcot. I'm glad you found some food that would work for you!

I don't think I can ever hope to hear Henry mutter the words "I think 5 years is too long to wait to come back." I think you have a keeper!

How cool that your dad loved Soarin'! That must have been really special!

Great update! I can imagine Moonk was embarrassed! I know I would be.

She is an outgoing kid when she is in control, but not in a situation like this.

~Beka~

He really did enjoy it! He LOVES to fly but hasn't in years because his HBP keeps him from passing the physical. So that was a real treat for him.

How did I not know that there was Bee Gee's show??? Oh Andy Gibb. What a tragic loss!

Me and my sis had the Shadow Dancing album when we were kids, and we would listen to it for hours so it was great to hear some of his stuff too.

They were I guess only there for a short time? Something that I understand may change out from time to time with different shows.

Too funny about the band calling her out. Gotta love a good embarrassement for your kids. :rotfl:

Yes, we embarass our kids often. This past weekend we were at a resturant at the beach and YMCA came on...yep me & Dh started doing it at the table...I think she went under the table..poor kid!:lmao:

I WILL plan better for meals next trip! I really really will!

Oh, but Henry has many things my DH does not...like wonderful fanny shots!:rotfl:

It was real special to do that with him and he talked about it ALL day!

So Moonk managed to survive the show. Thank goodness!

We decided to just really kill some time before fireworks. The kids (and us) were getting tired.

Since we had decided this would be our only day in Epcot, we wanted to hit Mexico and Norway for the kids. I thought they would enjoy the little rides, and it would cool all of us off.

So, we headed out for Norway.

As we passed by Germany, DH ducked into the shop. Looking back now, not real sure why. :confused3 He literally walked around the shop, with all of us following him, then back out the door.

Okay…what was that all about?

Then we decided to stop for a few pics, you know that spot!

P6170023.jpg

P6170024.jpg

Moonk and Bits taking pics of each other.
P6170025.jpg

Then it was over to Norway for the Viking ride. It felt so good to be inside, in the cool AC! As we got closer to the loading spot I tried real hard to hide the ramp that goes up with the boats.:rolleyes1 I knew if Big Boy saw it, he would get his worry on. And I knew that the drops on this ride were just little ones.

So we got on, then Big Boy said “Oh no! We are going up! This is going to be fun!”:lmao:

Huh?

What?:confused3

Cool! :thumbsup2 He was getting excited!

No Fear!

Too bad this ride is kinda lame as far as drops go!

Next, we headed over to Mexico. I love the inside of Mexico and next trip we decided to eat there. Okay, I decided…the kids helped…DH said whatever!

I had just rented the Cabelero’s movie for the kids about a week before we left so they would get the ride. They hated the movie, so they were not so excited about the ride.

But when we got on…they laughed and laughed and were excited to see parts of the movie. They love Donald and realize how funny he is and how goofy he acts like their Daddy!

When we came out, we had about 2 hours before the fireworks.

Memaw decided she had enough of this walking for today. So, we found a spot for the fireworks viewing.

I REALLY wanted to do Test Track! I was hinting…and hinting…

Finally, Dh said lets take the kids and my parents stayed with our stuff.

We got in line…not too long it seemed. I was so excited as the cars zoomed by the windows.

The noise was getting on my nerves!

Then I noticed…no cars have gone by in a while…the line was not moving!

Oh no!!!!

Then the announcement…Sorry, there is a slight delay…please standby!

So we waited!

(and for Heather's enjoyment...line pics!)

P6170033.jpg

Finally the dreaded announcement came that TT was going to be down for what they thought was the rest of the night!:sad2:

Bummer!:headache:

So we headed back over to where my parents were. Disappointed…no TT this year!

It was still VERY hot out, so we got the kids some drinks and waited for the show.

Look at this cool pic before the show started...I was so afriad it was going to rain...it went all the way around us!
P6170036.jpg

Now, I know this is supposed to be an impressive show…but it was okay at best to me. I really didn’t like the big hot balls of fire…it was already hot and that made it worse.

P6170039.jpg

After the show, we headed out to the busses and decided on the walk, that we would surprise the kids the next day with Animal Kingdom.

We had not intended on going there, DH didn’t want to go. We live near the zoo and go almost every year so he said there was no need to go to another one. We decided to only stay there a short time because we wanted the kids to be fresh for Chef Mickey’s. So, we would decided on three things to do and that would be it.

But for now…it was off to bed.

Oh! I should also mention that as we were leaving…TT had opened back up! OH WELL!:headache:

Aww...that's too bad about TT! There's always next time! Glad the rain held off for you. We love the inside of Mexico also, I mean who wouldn't! We were going to eat there this year but it gets bad reviews so we didn't book it. However, there are some people that eat there every year, so next year we will go for sure. Even if the food isn't that great, the atmosphere is!

~Beka~

I'm sorry to hear you missed out on Test Track. I'm glad the kids liked the World Showcase rides, though.

Glad you made it around the Showcase and got to see Illuminations. The kids must have been so dissappointed about TT. Oh well, just more reason to come back!!!

I am not a big review reader on some stuff...my main goal is to make sure the kids have something to eat...that was the game plan at least!:lmao: But they do like mexican type stuff...I'm sure we can find something there for them!

I'm sorry to hear you missed out on Test Track. I'm glad the kids liked the World Showcase rides, though.

I was really bummed about TT! I was contimplating getting an extra day just to go ride it! Could not talk DH into that one!

Glad you made it around the Showcase and got to see Illuminations. The kids must have been so dissappointed about TT. Oh well, just more reason to come back!!!

Yes! That's it...more reasons to go back! That's what I need! "Ah Honey...we have to go back...we didn't get to ride TT...what if it goes away or something!" Do you think that will work on him?:rotfl:

Good little update.

Thanks!:goodvibes

Great update!!

If I had been Moonk I would have crawled under the nearest bench if I was called out...:rotfl:

Now if it is someone else being called out, I totally enjoy it..., I know I am a little stinker.

DS is going to J & W for culinary arts. His goal is to one day either work on a DCL ship or at WDW. He found out he can apply for his required co-op at WDW for 11 weeks.
Do I have him brainwashed or what??

Thanks for the line pics and the shout-out!! I especially enjoyed them since I've never waited in line for Test Track. We're Test Track VIPs, you know!

I haven't seen Illuminations for years and years. I really want to on our next trip. Sorry you weren't overly impressed!

I hope your AK day works out! That park is so hard to navigate!

Those dresses in your siggy look very familiar! Tessa was a flower girl in a wedding with those exact same dresses! Her flowergirl dress was a little different, though. Cool!

In a normal place I might have died, but not a WDW...I thought it was funny!

Please make sure your son knows that I will offer my services as a taster at any time!:lmao:

Good job on the brainwashing Mom!!!!!

Yep...some of us are not a cool as you guys!:snooty: But really...it's such a blast waiting in line, with the clanking, and the noise!!!:scared1:

I remebered Illuminations being better for some reason...not sure why.:confused3

I was really kind of excited to see AK. Like I said, DH had no desire.

We got up fairly early to make EMH this morning. I figured if we got there slightly earlier than the masses, we would get to leave early enough to give the kids time to rest.

I went down to Memaw and Pepaw’s room to fetch whichever kid (can’t remember who) stayed with them. When I got there Dad told me he didn’t think Mom would be going today. Her feet were really killing her and she did not sleep very well the night before. (She was in the shower). I told him that was okay, but we could get a wheel chair at the park. He said he would tell her, but he really didn’t think she would go anyway.

We were only going to be gone for a few hours, so she really wouldn’t miss that much anyway.

Me and DH got the kids ready. No customs this morning as I knew they would get wet anyway.

As we got to the busses, there were sitting both my parents. I was surprised to see her, but pleased.

We arrived at the park with about 20 minutes of EMH left. I grabbed a map and told the family to meet me at the Safari while I ran to get FP at Kali. They had to get a wheel chair for Mom anyway.

I took off in a hurried sprint. Good Lord! It was already hot in this place! I agree with everything anybody has ever posted about this park being hot and confusing!!!

So, I got the FP and took off for the Safari. I figured with by big walk, they would be waiting on me. I called them, and they had just gotten the wheel chair! UGH! So, I waited. It took them a while because they had not only the WC but 3 kids in tow, that were tired.

By the time they got there, Moonk looks at her Dad to announce she must go potty, then they all chimed in!

DH told me to get in line and he would catch up. Let me say, I HATE THAT!!!! I hate when people get in line only to have another huge part of the party come up thru the line. I realize with kids (because I have 3) that sometimes this can’t be avoided if you are already in line. But to get in line without the entire party, that drives me crazy.

But, Pepaw started pushing Memaw up in the line and I followed. Feeling VERY uncomfortable. We snaked back and for the thru the line until we got to the part where you go into the little building, before the next outside line. I told Pepaw to stop, pull over and let’s wait.

So we waited for some time. Finally they showed up and then no one would let us back in line. Until this nice family from Ohio let us in. They were real nice and they had two kids about the same age as Moonk and Bits. We talked the whole way thur the line…they were NASCAR fans too. Bonus!

The wait was pretty long and the first time the kids had complained about any wait. I was prepared! I had been collecting little cans of playdoh and little cars for them and had them hid in my bag. It was just the thing to keep them busy.
P6180045.jpg

P6180048.jpg

We reached the handicap turn off and loaded into our truck. The ride was a lot of fun. But the whole bridge thing I could have done without! Not so funny to someone that fears bridges!:scared1:

P6180053.jpg

By the time we were done with the Safari it was time to use out FP for Kali.

Here is where the magic left Disney for me.

Little back story for you that I should have mentioned earlier.

First, my DH is kinda a stickler for some things. At no time should anybody be in a wheel chair if they don’t need it. He knew Memaw needed it. The kids did not. They were not to at anytime ride in her lap. He sees this as an insult to children that do need them. Fine.

Second, Memaw is a drama queen!!!!! She likes drama…lives for it sometimes. We really had not seen the drama queen this week, but we knew that at any moment she would appear.

Third, my parents. Because of the afore mentioned drama queen…I’m not sure what happens to my father. He puts up with it until they blow up into a fight. And it can get ugly. I grew up with it. HATED IT!!!!:headache:

Forth, not until I met DH did I know how to reign in the drama without a fight. Now, I put my foot down and it is over. I don’t feed into it, nor do I become a part of it all. I so did not want to do this at Disney. I wanted and prayed all would go without drama.:rolleyes1

So enough build up…on with the story.

When we left out of the Safari to head towards Kali, one of the kids tried to sit in Memaw’s lap. Dh grabbed him and took of down the path. I leaned over to Memaw to explain that he did not want them riding in her lap because of the above. She took this that he didn’t want HER in the wheel chair…I DID NOT SAY THAT!!!!:headache:

Off down the very crowded path we headed. I had two of the kids with me, trying to keep an eye out for DH who was in the lead, walking VERY fast, and at the same time, wait on my parents.

I have to admit, I was getting a little mad at DH for not waiting.

We get over to Kali and Memaw had to go to the bathroom. Fine.
DH was over at the entrance with the kids waiting on me. Looking very ill that I was not hurrying up.:sad2:

Pepaw took his FP and hers and told us to go ahead without them.

I find DH so we can go load up on the ride.

Okay…this is without a doubt the dumbest line in all of Disney. You go a little ways and the rope dividing the FP from the rest ends. Then, you go around the corner and the rope starts again. I didn’t know that, so I stopped. Thankfully a nice person in the standby line told me how it worked.

So we get to another loading platform of death and DH looks at me and said “Why didn’t we wait on your parents?”

Huh?

What?

Why didn’t you ask me that at the entrance you person you?

Ugh!!!

Okay…I am NOT a water person! Not that I don’t like getting wet. It’s just that I have no desire to get soaked in my clothes.

Big Boy wanted me to sit next to him, he picked the seat, we buckled up.
Remember he is not that type that likes to be caught off guard.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that the same seats don’t usually get soaked twice. Okay for future use by everyone…that is a big fat lie!!!! Big Boy and I got SOAKED twice!!! And no…I did not pick my feet up! Ooops!!!!

So we get off the ride…dripping from everywhere…well at least me and Big Boy were. Moonk was mad because she didn’t get wet at all.

When we got to the exit, no Memaw or Pepaw anywhere to be seen.

So, I called them…no answer on either phone. I figured they were on the ride.

I was hungry and so were the kids so we decided to grab a bite to eat.

As I was standing in line, my phone rang, it was Memaw and this is how it went.

“Hey, where are you?”

“We just got of the ride, where are you?”

“I’m in line getting some food. Do you want something from here?” (I read the menu)

“No….” Long pause…”why didn’t you wait on us to ride? We wanted to see the kids!”

“Um…Dad told me to go”

“Well…I hate we missed it”

At this point I think I was just too tired…

I started to cry…:sad1:

HARD!

“Dad told me to go…DH was leaving me with the kids…I tried to wait…you had to go to the bathroom…I CAN’T MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY!!! Bye.”

Yep, I hung up on my mom….I felt the magic leaving. Why was she making me feel guilty! I did nothing wrong!

Okay…I would not dwell on it…I was done with the whole event…let’s enjoy our lunch.

So I tried to eat and just ignore what had just happened.

My parents arrive at our table and Pepaw steps away to get food.

I start to talk about the ride and how much fun it was. I asked if she got wet. Was is fun?

She started to cry.

Then she told me that I had been very mean to leave them.

I told her that I was sorry...there was just a misunderstanding. Let's move forward and not let it ruin our day.

She cried harder and said it wasn't her fault that she had to be in the wheelchair.

When did anybody say anything about her being in the wheelchair...

She said that Pepaw was mad he had to push it.

No...he was the one that got it for you.

I said just stop and eat...Pepaw was back with the food.

We ate our lunch and decided to go see the Bug's life show.

We got up from the table and Memaw starting pushing the chair and walking behind it. I said sit down, I'll push. She said no, but then moaned in pain.

DRAMA!!!!!!:headache:

Whatever...I offered again to push her...I did not want her to be in pain.

She again refused...again she moaned!

So we lined up for the show.

I love the details in the tree...

P6180070.jpg

So we get to the Bug Show.

We go in with the kids in the regular entrance...Memaw and Pepaw sat in the back.

She would later reveal...this also made her mad.

Yep! That is right...we took the kid that is terrified of bugs in there! :scared1:

WE ARE BAD PARENTS!!!!:sad2:

Really they were all in tears by the time we left.

Needless to say...we won't be going back there!

As I said it was three things then time to go back to Pop.

I think Bits was okay with this thought.

P6180072.jpg

Next up...Chef Mickey's...

or will we all kill each other?:scared:
