I'm doing a split stay next April with 3 days at the BCV, and am thinking it might be nice to try Club level somewhere for the first time. Been thinking it might be nice to try The Yacht Club's club level (the lounge is called the Regatta Club right?) I was wondering if anyone here who's been lately had any positive things to say about club level at YC so they can help convince me this is the place to try it. Saying that, it has to be available when I'm ready to book. (And am hoping to try getting either a bounceback offer from a visit to OKW this fall, or else a annual pass discount)

My family stayed club level at the YC last month. This was our third year in a row at YC club level, and I thought the lounge choices were the best yet! There was plenty of food and drink, the CM's were attentive and polite, and the appetizer choices were delicious.

We do not drink alcoholic beverages, but the cart was very busy. I noticed people asking for a larger pour, and the CM was very willing to do this.

We found seating each day with no problem. The CM's cleared and cleaned the tables quickly. I think you will enjoy it!

***USELESS UPDATE!!!***

I am writing to inform you all about my ongoing practice for Storm Along Bay and perhaps to provide some encouragement for the less coordinated amongst us (JanetMom I'm looking at YOU! :magnify: ).

Yesterday did not go well for me. I waited all day for the toughest kid in the hood to break out the hydrant wrench and turn on the water. After seeing me sitting on the curb all day he finally relented and turned it on, but only because it was rush hour and he was bored.

I had a tough time practicing getting in and out of the tube but I chalk that up to the curb only being 4 inches tall. I fell over numerous times and hit my head on the bottom of the street but it's nothing that doesn't happen on a regular basis, so that may explain a lot about 'ol Ninja Mom... ;)

I also had a couple of near misses with a UPS truck and a cop car. My husband says not to worry as the insurance is all paid up and the cop was out of donuts so he didn't have the energy to get out of the patrol car and yell at me. He started to roll down his window to do the yelling but then he saw all the kids run over to the hydrant to redirect the water into his window and he thought better of it. Living in a tough neighborhood does have it's perks occasionally and this was one of them.

The other problem I'm starting to experience is something I call "Pool Tube Asphalt Road Rash" (PTARR). It seems to be indigenous to people who practice pool tubing in the big city. Nevertheless I soldier on and I wear my road rash as a sporty badge of honor. If I should ever encounter another person with PTARR I shall proudly drop trouser and give them the full PTARR salute! In my opinion this is way better than all that flashing of gang signs that goes on in Ninja mom's neighborhood. ::yes::

I also had a major scare when I was unexpectedly swept up in a one inch raging current and directed by the neighborhood thugs toward a sewer drain. The grate covering the entrance had long ago been stolen and sold for scrap but I rose to the occasion and I engaged both cheeks in emergency brake mode and saved my bacon (but not my road rash :sad2:)

Today I plan on taking matters into my own hands. I am planning a trip to the dollar store to see if they have any hydrant wrenches in that excellent hardware section they have. Once I have one of these babies in hand I can run foot loose and fancy free in ANY neighborhood and use their hydrants for my tube practice. Hopefully I will find a neighborhood where the Ice Cream man is brave enough to troll for business so I can live the good life and have an ice cream cone after tube practice. Why heck I might even buy an extra popsicle and smack it on my road rash!

I have had heard conflicting opinions on whether the Wishes Dessert Party is worth the money. What is your take on it?

We have done it and thought if you are going purely for food, it's not worth it. But to us, not having to fight for a good spot and not be overcrowded while waiting, it was worth it.

Booked for Christmas week vacation simply to avoid fighting crowds :rotfl2: (at least in my own mind) as possible.

I have a question for all of you.

I just read this on a facebook thread, and wanted to see if I missed this change in policy or if its something that is incorrect or maybe just happening or something along the lines of getting accurate disney info :thumbsup2.

It has to do with your credit card and charging to your magic band. We are used to giving our credit card info and having charging privileges turned on to our KTTW cards or in this case now Magic Bands. We have a limit set (by the resort - depends on where we are staying). If we reach that limit our card gets charged and spend more, repeat, and so on.

Usually we go to the Front Desk and pay down the balance with disney gift cards that we have saved throughout the year. Sometimes, the front desk lets us put them on our account at check in and create a credit balance and sometimes they don't because they don't want us to create a credit balance (we usually have a minimum of $1000 saved on gift cards through various store promotions, etc.). Anyway, I like when they let us put them on at check in, but that is not really the point of my post ;) I digress.

I just read on the FB thread that the credit cards on file are now charged immediately and therefore there is no balance to pay down. Has anyone heard this? I really don't care if they charge my card, but I don't want to be sitting with all these disney gift cards. If that is the case, I'll use them as I vacation instead of using them to pay off my balance and then let whatever goes over be charged like normal.

I just can't see this being the case, but I am wondering.

We just returned from a split stay at AoA, then BC. On both stays, our MagicBand purchases were totalled at the end of our stay, and then charged. Our bank reflected an immediate pending charge on our credit card, but actual charge was 2 days later on both stays.

Thank you for the input! After getting our milk situation taken care of and hearing this report, I am excited about our YC CL stay! In case anyone was interested...we had booked AKL CL as a fall back and was going to cancel our YC stay. After hearing from AKL IPO I asked about having lactaid and they said it would be there at check in and no additional charge! I notified the YC of my disappointment that one CL could do it no problem while YC didn't want to. It was taken care of and they will have it ready for us at check in. We don't use IPO for our ressies or anything but this so it was upsetting to hear they were not interested in helping us plan ahead (which I thought was their purpose). Either way, we are relieved and excited about our trip once again!

Thanks. I love being near Epcot so getting YC CL would be my first choice for my split stay with BCV. Like I said, all I need to see is if its available and hopefully I can get either bounceback or AP discount. I'm hoping that the fact that easter is the beginning of the month and spring break should be over by then, should help my chances. Course, it is the F&G show so we'll have to see.

We were at the Villas @ GF last week. I always take cash, paying off our balance every few nights.

Nothing has changed. Your credit card will not be charged until the resort-level charging amount is reached OR you reach check-out day without exceeding the level.

We checked in Saturday. I stopped by concierge on Tuesday and again on Friday night to pay off the balance.

Thank you...I am chalking this up to misinformation shared via social media! Good to know that the charging back to your room process has not changed!

I suspect what they do is when you check in, the resort will put an authorization through on your card for the amount of purchases you're able to make. I think I read somewhere that at the deluxe resorts, it's $1,500. That effectively will reduce your available credit on that card by $1,500 as the card issuer will place a hold on that card until it receives settlement.

As you use the MB and charge to the room, it just gets tallied as a running total. Should you spend more than $1,500 the front desk will automatically settle the authorization for the outstanding amount which clears the authorization and charge the card. They will then authorize another $1,500 "block" on your card for the next amount of purchases.

As long as you return to the front desk prior to hitting that magic authorization amount you can pay in any form they accept payment. The initial authorization will remain as you ring up the charges. It's pretty standard practice for hotels that offer charging privileges, and that's the way they did it for us last year at POFQ (I think the authorization there was $1,000).

If you don't hit that limit at any time during your stay, you can just pay the total when you check out in any manner they accept, or just tell them to charge the card.

Prepaying cash or gift cards would be the same thing, but different hotels have different policies regarding that as some don't like to receive cash on account.

So excited!! Just booked the Frozen Package for Jeanne, Princess Lily and myself for July 19th. Lily will freak out!!!!!

Reminder- I am trying to put together information about the accommodation for food allergies and dietary intolerances at the resort. If anyone has information or pictures about items that are available- especially at the Marketplace- I would appreciate it.

The recent discussion about milk and milk substitutes at club level has piqued my curiosity about what is available at the Marketplace.

According to the order form I have for the Marketplace for DVC members, Pearl Organic Soy Milk Vanella (sic) is available. (September 2013)

I don't see any other soy or almond milk listed, but that doesn't mean it isn't there.

Could someone who is going to be there soon please check what is available, and if possible, take pictures.

Thank you!

Dee

I don't know if you want to remind people that if they are going to Animal Kingdom park, they can check out the Gardens Kiosk, which has snacks that some people with food sensitivities might be able to bring back to the hotel. I mention it because it's an easy option if someone is in that park anyway -- no additional transportation required. Here's the menu:
http://allears.net/dining/menu/gardens-kiosk/all-day

I'm pretty sure I also saw the gluten free cupcakes at the Boardwalk Bakery, but I can't swear on a Bible about it. That would be another snack that some people with food sensitivities could bring back to the hotel, no additional transportation required. Those are small cupcakes which come in a set, in a plastic container like you would get at the grocery store.

:scared1::scared1:
They better not put a $1500 hold on my card when I check in!! I don't plan on using my magic bands to pay, using cash or my credit/debit card, so I'll need that money available! So I would need to have an extra $1500 in my account for them to put a "hold" on?

Geez, I didn't count on that....:worried:

I haven't told Tom about this yet...something tells me he'll throw down his Discover card when he hears about this!
