We went to Disney three months after 9/11. The trip had been paid for six months before we were to go. At the time Disney was dealing with problems of their own. Closing resorts and moving people all around to try to fill others so they could reduce staff until people were ready to fly again. We were also not so fond of the idea of getting on a plane and the fact that Disney had called and moved us twice the month prior to leaving we were thinking we should just stay home. I wish we had.
I called Disney to cancel the trip and was offered a hugh upgrade if we would reconsider. We were to check in at POR and would be moved the next day to the Boardwalk Villas ... cool with me. So, we show up and they have no idea who we are so I give then the mane of the man I was to call when we got in and a few minutes later they come back and tell me he no longer works for Disney. Not so cool. I had talked to the guy the day before to make sure there were no problems and he joked that there better not be because they were closing POR the day after we got in and we'd be sleeping on the grass. Funny guy.
So Disney puts us in a room and tells us to go enjoy the parks while they figure out what to do with us. Fair enough, this is Disney and they take care of their guests ... right? Long story short in the next ten days we were moved three times in the same resort and each time our park passes wouldn't work and we would spend hours waiting for them to be fixed. When it was time to check out the real mess began. I go to the desk to pay for charges to our room and they hand me a bill for $3,400+ saying I had to pay rack rate for the room because I didn't have a reservation when I got there (I had booked in like June with an offer they sent me for $69 a day at a mod and paid the trip in full at the same time) needless to say by this time the pixie dust had turned in to more of a rash then a warm fuzzy.
We had a flight to make so I paid them and went home. A couple weeks later they refunded my money and told me my next stay would be the best one ever. And it was. It took me a few years to cool off but in the end Disney owned up to their mistakes and kept to their word when we returned. We've kissed and made up and it's all good.

Our first trip to Disney (for both of us) was our honeymoon. Besides having the best wedding ever-we were so excited about coming to WDW. We married on September 8, and left very early on September 10. Our first day we enjoyed a special honeymoon breakfast and it was off to the Animal Kingodom park we had a blast. At dinner some people told us about downtown disney so we checked it out-we had so much fun.
Tuesday Spetember 11-oh yea 2001......unfortunaltely native NYers....at 12 noon during lunch we were told the parks were closing due to an emenergency in NY....they couldn't give us any additional information...they bussed us back to our hotel (Port Orleans French Quater) and as the rest of the world did-we tuned into CNN....there was our city in ruins, and we were trying to enjoy our vacation.
THe parks closed for 2 days-as we were a terrorist target...only to reopen and we got hit with a tropical depression. All my honeymoon pics are either at the resort or us in ponchos. We got to enjoy our last day-beautiful weather-we fell in love with Epcot...but our honeymoon was a bust....we've come back every September since-our next big trip is scheduled for September 4~8-at the Animal Kingdom Lodge!

DH and I were at WDW on our honeymoon at the same time. We also were married on Sept 8th. We were at MK that day and had just gotten off of HM when a cast member approached us and told us that the park was closing and we needed to leave. I thought the parks re-opened the next day, though. We went to MGM and there was maybe 50-100 people there total until afternoon.

DH and I are also from NY - upstate, not the City. But, as Paramedics who work closely with our fire department, it took my breath away as I watched the footage on CNN and read the crawler at the bottom of the screen stating that 300 firefighters were dead. That would be our entire city fire department!

We have had two bad experiences. One mine the other my wifes. On one trip (our first as DVC owners) she had a tooth crack in half, on the first day! We ended up having to call the Disney Dentist on call and having the tooth pulled. She was sore for a few days but eventually felt better.
Mine was a small spot of poison ivy on the back of my foot. SOMEHOW I picked up a flesh eating bacteria and ended up in the hospital when we returned, The doc here said I would have lost a lot of skin if I had waited much longer.

That's bad she broke a tooth in half, And you had poison ivy that;s bad too! hope ya'll feel better!

I hate getting sick  I get sick a lot, also my sister (at the time she was 4) got sick at disney she vomited in bed and the disney bus, we had to clean the stuff off with baby wipes (A woman gave us some) she finally stopped vomiting! We got sick and went to the ER, mom was the sickest  she has no immune system! My sister and I got better when we were waiting to go into the ER, my mom didn't get better EVER! A year ago she got sick she's still sick! P.S I use the sick sigh a lot

I'm sure I had some whiny, unhappy moments when I was a kid at Disney, but the worst moment recently was when I went last year with my mom and sister. On our first night, we had reservations at an Italian restaurant in Epcot and my mom got so sick from the fish, she missed Animal Kingdom the next day!

Wow, your mom got food poisoned from the fish?! I don't even like fish, really.

My dh and dd went on Splash. We had FPs. Anyway, we were rider switching as I had a little one in a stroller. The line should have been 20 minutes. I kept going and waiting for them to come over the mountain. Nothing. An hour goes by, still nothing. By this time, I'm frustrated. My little one is frustrated from being stuck in the stroller. 90 minutes later, the logs start going over the falls empty. I go to the area where the line goes in and people are coming out saying they've been kicked off the ride or kicked out of line. The CM has stopped letting ayone in. Meanwhile, I still have no idea what has happened to my family.

Finally, dh comes around the corner and he is POed. They were on the ride. In about as far as the first drop, when a boy of about 12 got out of the ride. Did you know they are watching you as you go through the ride? So the ride stopped seconds after he got out, and everyone in the logs was trapped wherever they were. After about 15 minutes of not knowing what to do (a message kept coming on telling them to stay where they were), a CM came along and told the kid, "boy, you are in a heap of trouble!" they then got the people out of the logs and took them down the backside of Spalsh (which dh says is really dirty, btw). And they finally got out. It took 2 hours for them to get the ride back up and running because when a ride stops at Disney, they test it all out before resuming regular running. When we went to Splash, the park hadn't been too busy. Our idea was to get it done because it's our favourite MK ride. After the fiasco the park was very busy and we had wasted our window of unbusy time. Luckily, the CMs were honouring any unused FPs and they gave dh and dd each FPs to come back later so we did still get to ride it.

I'm sure people have had worse Disney days but that is our 'unhappy Disney moment'. Nothing anyone could do about it and no one to complain to but dh still says sometimes, "I still want to know what happened to that kid!" LOL

That is bad! I would have been UPSET :headache: if thay told me to get off the ride after I had waited in line for a least 1 hour! At least thay gave you FP's! That was a good thing!

More than likely he was escorted to the front, parents called or found. I am not sure being that he was a minor if he would have been asked to vacate the premises. I don't know if Disney would ask the entire family, but since if your child is underage you are responsible, they may have.

That is a HUGE offense in Disney. It's right up there with fighting in the parks.

Best never to assume that if you are in Disney you are not being watched on the rides. They have cameras in there for just this purpose, guest safety. I actually take comfort in that, since I am epileptic, if I ever were to have a seizure on a ride they would see it and stop the ride. There is a site that has tons of Disney Security info and this is one of the things I got off of it about IR Cameras in the attractions: This is very true and are quite visible on many rides. For example, on Pirates in the Magic Kingdom, the guy in the little loft above where you board the ride is actually watching video screens from the cameras (I have been up there and seen them). When on the rides, look backward and you will notice very dark purple "spot" lights pointing right at you. That is the IR light source, the camera is right next to it. They are also quite visible on Space Mountain, especially as you start up the ramps. This is why they do not want flash pictures during the ride. Turns out that the flash washes out the cameras for half a minute or so and nothing on that camera can be seen.

My family and I had ADRs for Hollywood and Vine for lunch with JoJo and the Little Einsteins. My three-year-old had been looking forward to this meal the entire trip. I had just finished getting food from the buffet for my kids and I returned to get food for myself. I slipped on something (food, probably) on the ground next to the buffet table and fell flat on my front. It was embarrassing and a little jarring, but it was even worse because I was 12 weeks pregnant at the time. I was so upset that I left my husband and three-year-old at the restaurant and decided to go back to the resort with my younger daughter. To add insult to injury, I couldn't find my way to the front of the park. I kept hitting dead ends. I left the restaurant in such a hurry, I didn't check to make sure that I knew where I was going. I was a mess and I missed my daughter's favorite part of the trip.

I know that this is nothing compared to broken limbs and cracked teeth, but it was my worst moment at WDW.

I honestly dont know if this is the worst moment we had, but it is the one that sticks in my mind. My DD and I were going to go on Stitch as my DH & DS drove the Indy cars. We had fast passes and when we went to the CM to had them in he pointed us to go in and walk all the way down behind the gentleman in the wheel chair. No problem right. WELL, we went down and stood where we were told and I wasn't paying much attention to anyone else and my DD said mom are they talking about us? So I turned around to hear a man telling his wife/GF that we needed to be thrown out of the parks for cutting in line. First of all, there is no line at this point...everyone is just standing around in a large group. I wasn't sure if they were talking about us either other than the fact they were looking right at me. My DD was 12 at the time, and she was freakin out about this. The man just kept saying things. Finally I said sir, are you referring to us, because we went where we were told to stand by the CM. He called me out right then and there and the gentleman in the wheelchair in front of us turned around and said not to worry about them and to not let them ruin our day. Well the guy all but pushed me and my DD out of his way to make sure he was walking through the turnstyle in front of us. He stopped and told the CM there of us line jumping. We were pulled off to the side and repremanded. I was MAD. I told them what happened, and made them go speak to the CM at the front enterance. They gave us our spot back in line (sort of) and what made it nearly sweet in the end was the fact the CM took us right back to the gentleman in the wheel chair & we ended up making a friend...

Not nearly as bad as some of the stories, but its funny to think about in hindsight. We got stuck in test track and we were trapped with our seatbelts on... in the HEAT TESTING room. It was like 120 or more degrees and we were frying under the heat lamps. :furious: The heat effect is pretty dramatic for the 2-3 seconds you are normally in it. We were trapped for 35 minutes...roasting like a turkey. My wife freaked out b/c she has asthma and couldn't breathe. :scared1: Eventually, we were freed and had some choice undisneylike words with several CM, I apologize if any of them are reading now!
We also got trapped again for the unmagical walk backstage at test track in Oct. I swear that ride has it in for us...

This past March I had the worst experience ever.

I was on day 2 of my 7 day hopper that I bought a year ago w/no expiration. It was so expensive, I saved up forever for it.

Anyways, I left MK at 7 to go to Poly for dinner. On my way back into the MK for fireworks, the CM tells me my ticket has expire and stamps it w/a big red VOID. I started freaking out, crying, shaking...they truly did not believe me. They gave me a list of dates that my ticket had been used. Well I was never in Florida for any of those dates.

They even went as far as to say I hadn't been in the parks that day, when I had dozens of pictures that proved I was. After I showed them pics, they took my ticket back to their office, retyped in the number and realized they had typed in the wrong number the first time. They reissued me a ticket and said "we're sorry".

I was just happy to get back into the park, and I was so embarrassed, so I just let it go and went in. Thinking back, I'm a little angry about it.

My worse moment at WDW was an entire weekend. We checked in, the next day got the call from home that my beloved pet had passed away suddenly. Had a MAJOR allergic reaction to a food I was told was NOT on my plate. Had a Bus driver shut my arm in the door (lovely bruise from that). An those are just the highlights LOL

Well I have been to WDW a couple times when we have had a Natural Disaster.

In 2000 a Tornado ripped through Orlando late at night. We were staying offsite and the Tornado hit less then 1 mile away. My husband was sound asleep when it was going through. It sounded like a train...me being from upstate NY had no "tornado experience". I could get my husband to budge, so I took my pillow and slept in the bath-tub. Nothing bad happened to us besides me just freaking alittle.

In 2005 we took the auto-train down, this is where you drive to VA and put your veh on the train and relax in the passenger cars the rest of the trip. Towards the end of the vacation hurricane Ivan went through Orlando and we were on lock down in the Pop Century for 2 days, eating only chips & cookies. Everything including the food court was closed. We could not leave the resort if anyone was cought driving they could be arrested. You should have seen that food court once it opened WOW. It ended up not being nearly as powerful of a hurricane as they forcasted. To make thinkgs worse it was by b-day. The cherry on top - Amtrak closed the tracks and we had to drive all the way home.

So in case anyone is wondering....yep I am going down again this Sept 17-27. Hopefully we will have good weather.....what's left??? an Earthquake?
