The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Last week, I went to AAA to try to book a room (well actually wanted a deluxe room, but I wouldve taken anything) and the lady said that the WL was entirely booked!! I wanted it for the week of 12/7-12/13 and this is supposed to be a 'value week' because it's supposed to be slower. I was completely surprised and disappointed that there wasn't a single room to be had in that massive lodge... I'm going to keep checking to see if they had any openings, but I'm so disappointed that I won't be spending my vacation here...

I Just Put Your Dates Into The WL Website And They Have No Availability For These Dates:confused3 :confused3 Keep Trying As When I Wanted "The Deluxe Suite For Over Xmas They Had No Availability Then One Day They Did,So It Does Happen:)
Goodluck:goodvibes

The rooms in the WL are all the same size aprrox. 340 sqft. (Standard, Woods and Courtyard view rooms including the Club Level rooms). Of course, this doesn't include the deluxe rooms and suites which are larger. The Studios at the VWL are 356 sqft.

Thanks for this information.

I just booked our package! We'll be staying at WL May 2-9 in a deluxe room. I am so excited. I have never stayed on site before and it will be the our first trip to WDW as a family. The kids are going to love it! :woohoo:

Anyone have any recommendations on what room to request?

Yes, keep checking but WL is very popular around Christmas time, even in the early part of the month during value season.

When is the best time to go during christmas season, by this I mean...I want to see the tree and decorations, and hopefully see the castle lit up, as well as the osborn lights BUT I want to go when it is LEAST crowded..our dates are flexable so we ca go in Nov or Dec. I am not sure when the Christmas lights, and decore will be up?

TIA:goodvibes

All the Christmas stuff isn't up across property until Thanksgiving (which is of course a busy weekend). The first weekend of December is traditionally when they tape the Christmas parade at MK, so you'd at least want to plan around that. Also there will be Pop Warner kids there around that time.

Many recommend going the second week of December for the lowest crowds, most Christmasy time of the year.

We did that the last two years, and it worked out well for us. :goodvibes

Thank you for your reply..we have always been in May, Sept and October. For our 09 trip I want to go during the Holiday season. Dh's birthday is on the 3rd so I was hopeing to go then, but I think I will take your advice and go the second week instead.
We check in to the WL for the FIRST time in 19 days!! so exciting!

I Have Heard That "Inner Courtyard" Is The One To Request..I'm Staying In A Deluxe Suite Over Xmas At WL:) :) I Cannot Wait:woohoo: :woohoo: I Can Let U Know All About It If U want:confused3 :confused3

Thanks. I am torn between reqesting a courtyard view or trying to get a view a MK and wishes from one of the higher woods view rooms.

I know that a 4-cup coffee pot & a little pkg w/filter is available in our rooms. DH & I have decided to bring our own coffee & will probably need more filters than they provide. Question is: is the filter a cone shape or the basket type? Thanks!!!

The Lodge does not provide any filters for the coffee makers. You will need to bring your own. It is for a 4-cup pot and they are the basket style. Just make sure you wash out the back of the coffee maker and also use filtered or bottled water. ;)

I have a question about the bear face courtyard rooms. Do any of those rooms have bunk beds? I'd like to book bunk beds, but I'd prefer to be in the Bear Face. So, I'll give up the bunkbeds for it. I just want to be sure before I book!

Thanks!

(We're booked at CR, but I'm pretty sure we're going to move to WL. I'm thinking my kids will like it better.)

I'm bringing some vinegar to run though the maker before my first pot is made. It is the only thing I can find that every manufacturer is okay with you using to clean their machines.
Also have the extra filters & good ground coffee for the mornings along with a case of bottled water. :thumbsup2

I am going to be staying at the WL in a little over 3 weeks :cool1: , my question is do standard rooms have dvd players?? They last time I was there we got upgraded to CL and they had dvd players in those rooms. I am just trying to figure out if I should bring my sons dvds with us.

Yes, there are at least 3 bunk bed rooms in the Bear Face location. :wizard:

Sorry, only Club Level, Deluxe, and Villa rooms have the DVD players.

I just got back from a beach vacation with NO access to a computer! I sort of enjoyed my planning hiatus, but now I'm back and ready to BOOK!

I think, having read just about everything I could get my hands on, that I'm going to book WL for the third week of December 2009 (the week before Christmas week). I'd considered pre-or-post Thanksgiving, but I really want to do the Candlelight Processional at EPCOT and MVMCP at MK.

I like to be close to the heart of things, which in WL's case, seems to be the lobby. These "bear face" rooms of which you speak...do I request "Inner Courtyard View Rooms Off Lobby"?
we will be there at the same time- arriving Dec 11th (friday), 2009 and heading home Dec 20th (sunday), 2009.. we've been before during the second week of dec and it was great. i am nervous about the crowds starting to get bad the 18-20th, but we will deal. we will try and do all the big rides early in the trip, so the crowds won't matter if there are any coming in that weekend before Christmas week.

we love this time of year and cannot wait to stay at WL for the first time and experience the holiday decor there. we just booked our packages- 5 courtyard view rooms for 9 nights, plus park hoppers plus dining. we plan to do MVMCP that tuesday, and the Candlelight dining package, as well as a grand gathering. see you there......we can wait the LONG wait together. i wish it was sooner.

Hooray! Several weeks ago I added a notation requesting inner courtyard view and off the main lobby ("bear face") to our courtyard view bunk bed room reservation. You are the first person that has said there are bear face bunk bed rooms. We've got our fingers and toes crossed hoping for a little pixie dust... I've already talked to my son about rubbing Humphrey's nose for a little extra magic. I plan to help him find the totem BEFORE heading to the front desk to check in. ;)
