We would like to visit the FWL while we are in Disney and would love to know what to do. We are staying offsite and have dedicated a few days to explore the resorts. IS the Lodge and campgrounds in the same area? We are thinking about the Horse drawn wagon ride, petting zoo and movie/campfire. Where do we park and is it o.k. to explore even if we aren't staying there? What shouldn't be missed? Any help would be appreciated.

The things you mentioned are all at Fort Wilderness. You can arrive at the entrance by car and then take their internal buses or walk to the area where you want to go. The alternative would be to take a boat from the Contemporary, MK, or WL hotel if that is more convenient. It delivers you to the area where the restaurants and Hoop Dee Doo Review are. FW has an entire campground board located separately on the DISboards.

WL hotel (for which this thread was written) is a separate location. You can also arrive by car or take the boat mentioned above.
At WL they have a children's club (for a fee in the evenings), 2 restaurants, and a marina with boat and bicycle rentals. There is a bike path that can take you to FW campground. See the first few pages of this thread for more details on the fun at WL.

As someone not staying at either resort, the only thing you are asked not to do is use the pools.

We have stayed woods view twice and I never once noticed bugs. Maybe it depends on the time of year, perhaps love bugs?

yeah, but the love bugs are "buggy" every where! ;)

We've had woods view a couple of times, too, looking at the MK, and never had a bug problem. :goodvibes

We're coming to Wilderness Lodge June 6th. It is me, my wife and our daughter Ansley. She'll turn 7 months while we are there. We booked a standard view room. Very excited!

So excited! I am pretty sure that DH and I narrowed down our resort list to the WL for our trip this Sept/Oct! Can't wait to book!

Husband smokes I know very bad habit but does anyone know how many smoking areas they have?

You both have made a great choice with the WL!:thumbsup2
Here's to a wonderful vacation for all!

Can not wait to get to the Wilderness Lodge next week. Even though it will be crowded we are so looking forward to relaxing at the WL. We have a courtyard bunkbed room reserved and I was thinking of upgrading to CL but doesnt look like they can gaurantee the bunkbed room. Maybe I'll ask at check in to see if we can upgrade if its not too expensive.Right now the price difference is about $50 more a night. Not sure still thinking about it :)
Would love a room here this time:

Designated Smoking Locations:
There are two designated smoking locations at Wilderness Lodge, and one location for the Villas.

The main DSA is located on the south side of the Lodge outside behind the Arcade, exit through the doors near the Mercantile Gift Shop the smoking area is just past the Buttons and Bells Arcade on the right.
The second DSA is located on the patio behind the Trout Pass Pool Bar next to Bay Lake.

The DSA at the Villas is located outside behind Sturdy Branches Health Club, near the rear door.

Okay I call myself going thru this thread hoping I might find my answer.
We booked WL 12-5 thru 12-12-10 we got the 40% PIN and got the Woods View with BB.
My question is what is the best room, Woods/BB, with a somewhat good view of the MK?
Thanks

We stayed in Room 5008 (with bunks) had a view of the castle, fireworks and monorail. Also, it was close to the back elevator which brought you down to Roaring Forks and the Pool area.
We loved it.

going back to the WL in July~ can't wait we love it there!!!!

We are going to Disney in mid July, can't wait. We haven't been to Disney since 2001, we got hooked on the Disney Cruise for a few years, sorry. Anyway, we are staying at WL and are super excited. What is one thing not to miss at the resort?

Take the time to relax and soak up all of the atmosphere in and around the lodge; it's like being at a lake resort in the middle of no where and yet your only minutes away from the MK!
