The Widow & the Spinster Take a Bougie WBTA Cruise That Didn't Suck! - Lookout Cay, a One and Done 3/31

Well if I flitted around all day like that, I'd eat my bodyweight in food too!
You did a fair amount of flitting up and down those hills!
I bet the local tour operator dropped out.
Quite probably so.
We did actually consider a Segway tour, but decided against it.
Ever done one? So much fun. :)
Hey it was a local wine!
I said "fair"!
See you answered your own question!
I know... just wondered if you got up close and could tell or just from the location you knew.
I don't think Disney has the exclusive on them, but they are on all the Disney ships and in many of the Disney spas.
Not much of a spa person, so...
There was a glass barrier, but the kept asking if they could have ours.
Ah!

I was really bummed as it sounded fabulous!
And they would have taken us directly to our wine purchasing location!
It was a whole street of oysters! We did see oyster beds when we sailed out of the harbor later that night.
Yeah, I'll need to point those out when I post the update.
Leave it to Alison to find all the kitties!
That's my superpower!
Best excursion of Vigo! LOL
::yes::
DCL pizza is surprisingly good especially when fresh!
Yes! I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not sure if we had any more on the trip though! :scratchin
I LOVE European orange Fanta (Fanta, Fanta, do you want to want to? LOL) and I bought a couple of bottles in London and carried on. So much better than the bright orange American Fanta.
You should have taken the last one with you!
Vigo was beautiful to look at but I couldn't find much to see/do. Luckily we had better ports to come!
Yes! Much better ports!

Ever done one? So much fun. :)

No, I haven't, but it's on the list of things I want to do. I wonder if they offer them in Long Beach. That would be a fun touristy thing to do!

I know... just wondered if you got up close and could tell or just from the location you knew.

We treated them just like the vendors in Egypt. Put your head down, don't make eye contact and walk past as quickly as you can.

They do! A quick Google showed a couple of segway tours in Long Beach. :)

Good way to remain unscathed.

It was around this time that I realized that Donald and Daisy would be out, so I headed down to the atrium for some character meets. First I met Daisy.

There was a while until Donald came out, so I decided to wait for Rapunzel. Her line hadn't started yet. Well there was one family in front of me which included a special needs girl who absolutely loved Rapunzel.

When Rapunzel came out she really gave that little girl some quality time. They talked about her day, Rapunzel let the girl hold her braid, and gave her multiple hugs. As she walked away the little girl was over the moon.

When I approached Rapunzel, I told her that she was amazing, to which she replied, “You're amazing too,” which was not what I was expecting. I tried to make it clear what an impact she made on the girl, and she kind of brushed it off saying, “she made my day as well.” Must be nice to bestow pixie dust like that on a daily basis.

Then I was getting in the line for Donald, but his line wasn't open yet, it was still Goofy, and I got him earlier in the day in that same outfit. So I went to wait for Chip & Dale again since they were in their Spanish Outfits.

In the line, I met our next door neighbors. I recognized the guy because I saw him stick his head out while we were sailing away. Turns out they were from London proper. After the TA cruise, they planned to hire a car, drive to Port Canaveral and sail on the Wish.

I met with Chip & Dale, and when we finished I told them to watch out for the little kids and “Don't let them pinch you in the butt.” They both sniggered.

As soon as Chip & Dale were done, I ran up to meet Donald, as did our neighbors. We made it just in time because the handler said he would be closing off the line in 4 minutes.

When I got to meet Donald, his handler told him I met Chip & Dale first. Donald can be very jealous and she asked if they gave me any words of wisdom. I said, “No, but I warned them about getting pinched in the butt by little kids.”

Donald sniggered as well. “You don't know how true that is.” Said the handler. Actually I do because I've heard the horror stories from character actors at DL.

By now it was time for dinner. Again Jill had already been seated at our table. The drink server had the rest of our bottle of wine from the night before. However, we didn't want that wine until the main course.

We ordered an Italian Chenin Blanc to go with the initial courses.

Jill got the fried Brie. She seemed to like it OK. She didn't complain.

I got the shrimp and lobster and was deeply disappointed. There was no sauce whatsoever on the plate. The shrimp was OK, it was cooked well but it needed some additional flavor. The little slice of lobster was tough. I ate half of it, and that was it. I sent back about half of it.

The French Onion Soup was super good. No complaints and I ate every drop.

The rack of lamb was perfect. They say it's cooked to medium, but in actuality mine came medium rare. It was great! I was only able to eat one of the little racks, but it was super tasty. I only ate one bite of the potatoes, they were good, but I was trying to finish my lamb.

Jill got the Chateaubriand, and liked it well enough, it was just too large a portion.

Then it was my favorite, the Grand Marnier Soufflé. Both Jill and I ordered them, and pretty much as soon as they arrived, I told the server That I was going to need another one. I finished both of mine before Jill finished her first one. I washed it all down with an Amaretto neat.

And my stats for the day.

First I met Daisy.
How was that?
There was a while until Donald came out, so I decided to wait for Rapunzel.
That's a bit of a U-turn. Completely unalike.
Well there was one family in front of me which included a special needs girl who absolutely loved Rapunzel.
Awww...
When Rapunzel came out she really gave that little girl some quality time. They talked about her day, Rapunzel let the girl hold her braid, and gave her multiple hugs. As she walked away the little girl was over the moon.
 This is what makes Disney great. I love this.
Well, I think you've done your fair share of bestowing pixie dust, lady.
Turns out they were from London proper.
I've always wondered... who exactly is from London improper???
After the TA cruise, they planned to hire a car, drive to Port Canaveral and sail on the Wish.
Whoa!
I met with Chip & Dale, and when we finished I told them to watch out for the little kids and “Don't let them pinch you in the butt.” They both sniggered.
We made it just in time because the handler said he would be closing off the line in 4 minutes.
Close one... but you made it!
I warned them about getting pinched in the butt by little kids.”

Donald sniggered as well. “You don't know how true that is.” Said the handler.
Oh dear...
Actually I do because I've heard the horror stories from character actors at DL.
Oh? I mean... I've heard the odd one here and there, but...
I'll take the pasta, I think.
Jill got the fried Brie. She seemed to like it OK. She didn't complain.
Glowing review!

:rolleyes1
I got the shrimp and lobster and was deeply disappointed. There was no sauce whatsoever on the plate. The shrimp was OK, it was cooked well but it needed some additional flavor. The little slice of lobster was tough. I ate half of it, and that was it. I sent back about half of it.
Well, that's not so great. :(
I probably would've gone for the escargot.
The French Onion Soup was super good. No complaints and I ate every drop.
mmmm... who doesn't love a good french onion soup?
The rack of lamb was perfect. They say it's cooked to medium, but in actuality mine came medium rare.
Perfect!
Jill got the Chateaubriand, and liked it well enough, it was just too large a portion.
Looks like it was cooked well, too.
Here’s the dessert menu for tonight.
Gee... I do so wonder what you might get...

Both Jill and I ordered them, and pretty much as soon as they arrived, I told the server That I was going to need another one.
 You know your weakness!
I finished both of mine before Jill finished her first one.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you might have a bit of a fondness for them.
We came back to the room to find a stingray towel animal.
That's a new one. At least for me.
I wondered if you were going to google that for me! Now I just need to find someone to play tourist with me, that doesn't want to go to Disney!
I'd do that. I don't need to do Disney every time I go to CA or FL. Who knows when that might happen, though!

Love the soufflé! Best dessert on DCL! I even like it more than the chocolate one at Palo because citrus always wins against chocolate with me (even though I know the one at Palo is much higher quality!).

How was that?
She was fine....one of the more mild characters.
That's a bit of a U-turn. Completely unalike.
Well you don't really get to pick there are usually 2-3 characters out there at once and their lines will stay open for about 15 minutes. Sometimes you'll get in a line and see Donald up there, but they'll tell you that by the time you get there you'll be meeting Mickey, or whoever is in that spot next.
 This is what makes Disney great. I love this.
Yes, it's moments like these that are so precious.
Well, I think you've done your fair share of bestowing pixie dust, lady.
All in a day's work.
I've always wondered... who exactly is from London improper???
Good Question! :lmao:
Close one... but you made it!
Whew! I did!
Oh? I mean... I've heard the odd one here and there, but...
Well evidently Gaston gets kicked in the n*!$ regularly!
I'll take the pasta, I think.
I had to go back and look cause the menu you pictured was the appetizers and soups. I never noticed that pasta. I've always ordered the rack of lamb, and Fran always used to get the Chateaubriand.
Well, that's not so great. :(
I probably would've gone for the escargot.
I know you like your escargot. I'm not a huge fan, I'll eat them, but there's things I like better. Like Shrimp with a sauce on them.
mmmm... who doesn't love a good french onion soup?
Only crazy people.
Looks like it was cooked well, too.
No, it was cooked medium rare! :snooty:
Gee... I do so wonder what you might get...

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:
 You know your weakness!
::yes:: That I do!
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you might have a bit of a fondness for them.
:rolleyes1
That's a new one. At least for me.
That's actually a pretty common one on DCL and easy to make, I think.
I'd do that. I don't need to do Disney every time I go to CA or FL. Who knows when that might happen, though!

Well, as you said, who knows when that might happen?

She was fine....one of the more mild characters.
I kinda had a feeling...
Sometimes you'll get in a line and see Donald up there, but they'll tell you that by the time you get there you'll be meeting Mickey, or whoever is in that spot next.
Well, that I didn't know.
And I don't think I'd be too happy if I was in line for a rare character and when I got to the front, was told it would be someone else.
All in a day's work.
pixiedust:
Well evidently Gaston gets kicked in the n*!$ regularly!
Hope the dude wears a cup
I had to go back and look cause the menu you pictured was the appetizers and soups.
Oops! Sorry.
If I'm quoting at work (and I frequently am), I have to see the pictures on my phone but then try to pick the right one to quote on the 'puter based on location. ("Let's see... it's the third one after the comment about the ___")
Only crazy people.
::yes::
No, it was cooked medium rare! :snooty:
:lmao: Touché!

Jill got the fried Brie. She seemed to like it OK. She didn't complain.

Insert shocked face that Alison ordered French Onion soup. :P

Best MDR dessert by far!

Sorry for the delay in replies....I was off on another adventure...driving to/from Kansas City, Missouri for Christmas. Almost as exciting as the cruise...not!

Jill in CO

When Rapunzel came out she really gave that little girl some quality time. They talked about her day, Rapunzel let the girl hold her braid, and gave her multiple hugs. As she walked away the little girl was over the moon.
That's so sweet, and so good of you to really point out to Rapunzel her impact

Wow! small ship hey!
Cute little silver tray, nice touch Disney
I got the shrimp and lobster and was deeply disappointed.
Pretty sure D got this and was like meh with it also
The French Onion Soup was super good. No complaints and I ate every drop.

I believe I got this, and yes it was super yummy, and that's coming from someone who doesn't really love big onions
I was going to say that Maria got this, but then looking back at the menu, I think Dorian got it and Maria got either the duck, or the pasta- I know one night she had a seafood pasta, but that it had a red sauce...Pretty sure Maria did have a bite or 2 anyways, as she loves ROL...anyways, I digress
Pretty sure I had this, but didn't finish it
We came back to the room to find a stingray towel animal.
:lovestruc I like rays a lot, pretty sure we got this one as well...

Onwards!

Love the soufflé! Best dessert on DCL! I even like it more than the chocolate one at Palo because citrus always wins against chocolate with me (even though I know the one at Palo is much higher quality!).

I like it better than the Chocolate Souffle too! That's why I normally order the Amaretto Souffle at Palo!

Well, that I didn't know.
And I don't think I'd be too happy if I was in line for a rare character and when I got to the front, was told it would be someone else.
They're very good about letting you know. There's usually a handler at the back of the line who let's you know. They tell the last person who will see Character A, and then they hang out back there and tell newcomers to the line, "you'll be meeting Character B when you get to the front."

A lot of people are disappointed, but they often have characters come out twice, so sometimes they can say, "But Character A will be back out at 4PM."

Hope the dude wears a cup

I bet it's issued with the outfit.

Oops! Sorry.
If I'm quoting at work (and I frequently am), I have to see the pictures on my phone but then try to pick the right one to quote on the 'puter based on location. ("Let's see... it's the third one after the comment about the ___")

I was wondering about that. You've been rather on top of replies lately!

The fried brie is fine...not my favorite but it'll do. ;)
So I nailed it on my description! :lmao:
Insert shocked face that Alison ordered French Onion soup. :P

Do i have a reputation for that too?

It was tasty and perfectly cooked.

Looked like it!

Best MDR dessert by far!
::yes::
Sorry for the delay in replies....I was off on another adventure...driving to/from Kansas City, Missouri for Christmas. Almost as exciting as the cruise...not!

Trying!

That's so sweet, and so good of you to really point out to Rapunzel her impact

She was really good with that little girl, not sure she could tell just how much she made her day.

Wow! small ship hey!

And some people, like @ACDSNY we never saw until disembarkation day!

Cute little silver tray, nice touch Disney

Probably more to keep the red wine from staining the tablecloth.

Pretty sure D got this and was like meh with it also
Yeah I'm already considering what I should order instead on the birthday cruise!
believe I got this, and yes it was super yummy, and that's coming from someone who doesn't really love big onions
I love onions! ❤️
was going to say that Maria got this, but then looking back at the menu, I think Dorian got it and Maria got either the duck, or the pasta
If Lamb is a choice, I'm pretty much ordering that. I ate it every day for the first week on the Egypt trip.
I know one night she had a seafood pasta, but that it had a red sauce...Pretty sure Maria did have a bite or 2 anyways, as she loves ROL...anyways, I digress
Pretty sure I had this, but didn't finish it
It's a lot of food!
:lovestruc I like rays a lot, pretty sure we got this one as well...
It's an easy one to pull off!
