POT (Proof of Time) Race Equivalency Cutoff Confirmed Times

I've seen it a few handful of times when someone is registering after the POT deadline occurs, but has a valid POT from within the calendar window. What I would do is get into the race, and then upon confirmation send runDisney an email stating you just registered and didn't properly submit the POT and since it's past the deadline you can't fix it on your end. Low chance they might help you, but worth a shot. And then as you said, go to the runner relations and see if they'll help. In most cases, they'll fix the error if it was on their end, but on rare occasion when the error was yours they will fix it. Bring the evidence, a smile, and a positive mindset. I wouldn't say it's impossible, but register knowing that the chances are low that he'll get into Corral A.

If he started in the first non-POT corral, it'll probably be like 14 min after the gun time. If he aims to run around his PR pace (7:10 min/mile), then he's about 4 min/mile faster than those starting with him, and about 2 min/mile than those who started 10 min before him. So if he stays patient, starts near the front of Corral D, then he'll find the course opens up a good bit upon entering the highway around Mile 1.5-2. By the time he gets to TTC (Mile 4), he will have passed most of the runners that started ahead of him in Corral B-D, and be catching those in the backend of Corral A running their PR pace (if they are). So my suggestion is not to stress too much about the opening 2 miles until you hit those wide highways and then he'll find more space to move. But it's unlikely he'll be congested by the time he makes it to MK given his pace.
Thank you for this. I figured I had a better shot at the expo than via email, but your right it's worth a shot to try that too. And thank you for that run down on the timing and course opening up info. I guess looking at the course map from last year, if it stays the same, the start of the Princess is more conducive to passing people than some of the other courses.

I would actually guess that the course changes to match the new half marathon course for MW, seems like the changes might be due to MK construction impacting the route (the full marathon course is also changing). Stay tuned to see if we run into any issues with course congestion in January.

Good morning friends, can someone remind me how PoT submission/corral placement works for Princess weekend Fairytale challenge? This is my first year running the challenge during princess (I usually run the half marathon only). I submitted a PoT from a 10 miler last year. Can I expect to be in the same corral for the 10k as I would the half marathon? I know for the 5k, I select my pace but I cannot recall the 10k registration process. I would appreciate any insight (maybe paging @DopeyBadger who always know how to answer these questions! LOL). I have never run Dopey or any challenge so this is my first time doing so. Thank you. :-)

I'm pretty sure that you did select a pace for the 10K and your 10K corral will be based on that. The HM corral will be based on PoT.

I haven't done a challenge since COVID so this is solely based on reports here. It might be worth asking in the princess weekend thread if you get no other responses here. You could also review your race registration info. You won't be able to edit anything but you should still be able to see what you selected.

Great suggestions and idea, thank you @GollyGadget I will check and see. 💜

Last year at Princess, they only had one corral listed for challenge runners. However, I think previously there were two and they could be different, so I'd just assume you won't know until you get your bib.
Just checked a Wine and Dine vid from someone who ran the challenge last year, only seeing one corral on the bib (D in her case).

When submitting a proof of time, what is the date range for the race? How far back can you go for a race to be considered? I have a 10k from October 20, 2024 that might work for the 2025 Wine and Dine.

Side note: the race policies for the 2025 Wine & Dine have May 1, 2024 as the POT cutoff date. Not sure if the typo is just the year, or the whole date, as it seems they keep moving registrations earlier, concerned that it may be sooner than that.

  • Proof of time must be provided from an officially timed race on a USATF certified course reflecting results between January 1, 2023, and May 1, 2025, and must be one of the below listed distances.
Mine shows 2025, but that is not to say runDisney IT doesn't have the wrong year on other areas of the website. LOL Your 10k should be good!

Thanks so much for replying. Can I ask where you see it? Never mind I see it under the individual race.

this is where I found it:

That 2024 date is a classic RD mistake, seems to happen at least once every race weekend. They roll forward all the information to the following year and forget to update something.

Ok, next question: how do you know if a race is a USATF certified course?
A lot of races will include if the course is certified on the website. You can also check the usatf site: https://certifiedroadraces.com/search/

As @fatmanatee said, I wouldn't really worry about it. You just need a race with online races results. International folks would be put at a disadvantage if they actually enforced the USATF thing. Plus it'd be a lot more work on their end.

2021 Wine and Dine Challenge - single corral listed (first race post COVID)
2022 Princess Challenge - single corral listed
2022 Springtime Challenge - single corral listed
2022 Wine and Dine Challenge - two corrals listed
2023 Princess Challenge - two corrals listed
2023 Springtime Challenge - single corral listed
2023 Wine and Dine - single corral listed
2024 DL - two corrals listed
2024 Princess - single corral listed
2024 Springtime - single corral listed
2024 DL Halloween - two corrals listed
2024 Wine and Dine - single corral listed

Unfortunately, I don't think we can say definitively how Princess Challenge bibs will be done. 2022 was one corral assignment, 2023 was two, and 2024 was one.
