First, :hug: to Glynis. Sending you good thoughts.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think the sickness is finally working itself out of the G-Luv/UncleR household. OMG. I got it as well and I was down and out for 2 days. I'm finally up and around like a human again. Everyone else is getting better too.
I have lots of cooking coming up this weekend and some other exciting things too. I'll try to spill more when I can.
Other than that...6 weeks left of school!
:hug: all around.
Yummy! Tonight I made a garlic, chicken, and broccoli alfredo over whole wheat pasta and garlic italian bread. So stuffed right now... :goodvibes
Tonight is a neighborhood Father/Son campout, so Alan, Jacob, and Timmy will be cooking their meal over a campfire. The boys are so excited about it! Last year's campout was rained out, but it looks like this year's is going to be great!
The girls are having a pizza party here at the house, while I go out to dinner with my dad. He's in town for the State Republican Convention tomorrow, and since he's a delegate, he has to be there. So, I get to spoil him tonight, and warn him to drink and not overtire himself tomorrow. Yup, I'm gonna nag him! I can't wait to see him!
Absolutely! I could use all the hugs I can get. It's scary to be 45 and facing a "grown up" decision that will impact my family. Exciting, but scary.
....switch those numbers around, and you've got ME....
Second: I need to ask you all to keep me and Alan in your thoughts right now. Things are happening that could impact our family greatly. I can't go into too much detail, now, but we could use some good thoughts coming our way. Don't panic, though, the stuff that's happening is good, we just don't know how to approach it. If y'all could send me prayers for peace and clarity, I'd appreciate it. I'll update you as I know anything concrete. Sorry to be so cryptic!
!
Ellen - Enjoy your Lilly fix! I think both you and Doug deserve it!
:hug: my dear friend. I hope it all turns out just the way you want.
Thanks - we did. She is just precious. We find out tomorrow how much she has gained. Hopefully a few ounces or more.
...WFDT? Grilled garlic lamb chops, string beans with crumbled bacon, and cheesy potatoes....
Oh MY Goodness your dinner sounds heavenly!!
Your dinner sound very good.
Thank Goodness it is Friday - This has been the longest week. How come that always happens right before vacation, but the time you are gone just flies? I have so much to do this weekend. I haven't even thought about what I am packing, I have wash to do, weed the flower bed, wash, clean and wax the car, and somewhere in there I really do need to pack.
WFDT ~ Chicken curry, rice and fresh asperagus.
Make it a great day everyone!!
Went to the Market today. Got all sorts of good stuff including hamburger patties, onion rolls and blue cheese for my dinner tonight. :lovestruc Grill me up a burger and have it with PW's Crash Hot Potatoes.
Hi all! I hope that I am back!
I am sending good thoughts to Glynis and Jen! Hope your good stuff happens!
Ellen- I hope that I get to wish you safe travels.
Well, this week was one of way too many firsts in the G household. IF we never go through another one like it I will be thrilled. Will tell you all about it this weekend.
Thank you all for keeping us in your prayers, you have no idea how much we needed them. I appreciate you all more than you know.
:wave: Hi y'all.
It's Friday. And there's officially 6 weeks left of work.
Today was a very productive day at work. Thank goodness. I needed it.
It was rainy and cool here today. UncleR made us taco soup for dinner and it was exactly what the doctor ordered!
I had all of the posts saved to reply and lost them all, so you'll just have to take a :hug: instead.
Well I had all sorts of plans to make the John Wayne Casserole tonight. Then reading my email (which I am three weeks behind on) I found a notification that we had theater tickets for tonight (that we had purchased at a major discount). So then we picked a dinner spot.
Then while I was running errands at Costco, Fran tells me that she is ambivalent on going and we could just stay home if I wanted! Then the guys who give you samples at Costco got me on this Barbacoa, Mexican Style Pot Roast and Pupusas! OK, I'm lazy today. So that's dinner. And since it's Costco sized we have enough to put some in the freezer and have it on two more days again!
WFDT? Roasted chicken, made in my 'set it and FORGET it'
....set $99 I ever spent!!
:wave2:
Not sure what's for dinner tonight, but I need to make out my menu for the next week...
Just sharing food porn from the holiday.....
My first breakfast was in Walt's Cafe, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
We had breakfast here on the first and second morning of our stay.
Between my parents, DH, DS and I, we had these items.
The Chinese breakfast allowed you a choice between:
1. Asian noodle and congee breakfast.
0401HKDLDay1115.jpg
2. The Dim Sum platter. I didn't take a picture of the platter because the food came out in individual plates and there was so much of it.
It came with Har Gow
A Char Siew Bao, Turnip cake and springrolls
0402HKDLDay003.jpg
and a serve of Gai Lan (see above greens).
The American breakfast provided you with access to the buffet.
0401HKDLDay1107.jpg
DH had this selection.
0401GlennDLDay1011.jpg
I had some toast and more fruit.
0401HKDLDay1126.jpg
The white fruit with the black speckles/seeds through it is Dragonfruit. I do have a picture of the fruit somewhere in my collection.....I haven't found it yet. I'll post it when I do. It tastes like a cross between apple and pear with melon thrown in. The black seeds are much like seeds in Kiwifruit; only dispersed throughout the flesh.
The American breakfast came with a choice of:
1. Waffles.
0401HKDLDay1118.jpg
2. Pancakes.
0401HKDLDay1119.jpg
3. Omelette
There were a number of other choices on the menu; but my family pretty much decided that the above choices were the pick of the lot.
Enjoy!
Hi everyone. Hope you are all well and that life is being kind to you. Hugs to those that need it.
I'm finally starting to feel a bit more normal, despite a hacking cough that just won't go away just yet! It's been over 2 weeks and I suspect that if I hadn't rested as much as I have done, I might not be feeling as 'normal' as I do right now. DH has been fantastic in taking over all the home duties during this period.
So...today is the first day I've felt like getting in the kitchen and organising dinner. DS and I are going for the porterhouse steak with steamed vegetables. I'm making grilled flat mushroom with pesto and feta cheese for DH to go with the steamed vegs.
No food porn from dinner tonight....I haven't yet got the energy to get behind the lens.
You may have seen the previous post with some breakfast items from my trip. I'll slowly post the food porn from the various dinners we had as I progress through the TR. So for those that are frequent visitors on the TR, apologies for the double posting.
Have a great day all. I'm hoping to make it through a full day at work tomorrow.
Good Morning!
PIO- I am glad you are feeling better! Don't get over ambitious now that you are well, keep resting! Your food porn is a nice way to start my day so thank you!
Allison- how is Fran feeling? I keep hoping the wound is healing quickly!
Glynis- still got you on my mind!
Dinner last night was pot roast with potatoes and carrots and green peas. I am going back on my diet today and hope that I don't let myself get derailed. I think BLSL chicken, a green veggie and a huge salad.
Buddy is back to work, thank goodness. He has been home all week and miserable. I am grateful he was able to at least interact with his Mom but he has been having a hard time reconciling her behavior throughout their lives. Right to her last decision to be buried with her parents and siblings. He was floored by that and cannot imagine how she came to that decision. His father adored her and he and his brother both are devastated by this last "stab" at him. :sad2:
We have scheduled a Mass for her on Saturday at her Church with a coffee and pastry hour after. We were not able to have access to the kitchen but that is a good thing IMO. I think that the sooner this thing is over the better.
