The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

Kathy I hope today is a better day for you.
Maria, nice lobster!

I'll have to come back later to post pics...flickr is acting wonky.

Afternoon friends! I finally have a moment to sit and "dis" It is snowing like crazy outside,(has been for over a day) we will have around 2' when all is said and done by tomorrow afternoon. A lot less then was originally expected, this was a hard storm to forecast as it is one that went to sea in the Gulf of Maine and was pushed back and is just sitting on us now.
Kris and I will go for a ride out in it later. (he has a HUGE 4x4 so no problems)
The boys are out doing a "keep up shovel"(Kris will sno blow in the morning form the overnight snow this will just speed it up), on our 2 driveways and our neighbor's (he is gone skiing in Alaska and Italy for the month of January). He gets back the day we leave for Florida so we will trade off.
I am inside with my laptop and enjoying a cup of yummy coffee...Wow I really love my keurig!! :lovestruc

Gretchen--I realized I never said how sweet it is that Kenny got you the painting that you wanted, and how sneaky he was about it!!

Glynis--I am so sorry for the loss of your dear friend...how wonderful he and his family had that last Christmas together.

Aimee--I know I have told you before, but Kris is a huge believer in surgery for Crohns. He has been over 18 years and no problems other then corn on the cob bothering him. He had 1.5' of his small intestine removed, the recovery was very easy, compared to the pain he had before it. (not that the Dr agreed to it, but he was jet skiing 2wks post op:rolleyes1)
I hope you find peace of mind in whatever your decision is and that your Ins issues are figured out quickly!

Nan--I am so glad that Buddy has some good news heath wise on his pain issues.

Ann--I hope that Emma's teething issues are over soon. That was always so hard to watch..they are to little to understand why they hurt. Ross was a wicked drooler to begin with never mind when he was teething! We called him "Bedula the Droola" (he will kill me if he knows I posted that:laughing:)
I can't get over Emma being 6months! Wow!

Maria--Glad that Emily is all settled in Chicago..how exciting! When do you think you will be heading that way?
I am so sorry your "friends" were so thoughtless....
I love the photo of Greg with his clams...his smile was priceless!!
Did you have the list of everyone's personal information...I would like to get myself added to it and get a copy as well, just pm me or email on fb. Or if it isn't you who did it, let me know who I need to pm, lol.

Janice--How's the head today? I had a weather migraine on Thursday....my New Years Eve was spent toasting with coffee not champagne..once the storm broke so didn't my head for the most part!

Ellen--Yes I did buy the Kindle...It is sitting next to me in its pretty new case just waiting to be turned on and downloaded with goodies! I am going to share it with Ross...and he is driving me nuts to get it going. It is next on my list of things to do once I post here! I have such guilt on buying it as I have around 200 books to still read from recent purchases at Barnes and Noble:rolleyes1 I gues I could have worse habits then reading and buying books, ;)
I sadly understand your feelings on not being with your sweet mama when she passed. The regret I have eats at me daily at times. I don't care if it is 2yrs 5 yrs 15 50 or 500.. time does not take the hurt away....

Sheryl--Sounds like you had a wonderful birthday meal....chargrilled oysters sound soooo good!!

Becky--Those potatoes look so cute and yummy but time consuming...I don't think I would have the patience, lol.

Marilyn--Ross' whole grade went to see Blindside the last day before vacation and every single kid loved that movie. Ross came home saying you have to get it on Netflix and see it. I watched the story on dateline about the family etc it was very interesting.

Bethany--I have chronic and acute sinusitis and my symptoms are not a bit normal to what most people have. I can say that if after a week you are still in pain then it is most likely bacterial and not viral and you should see your Dr as it might need an antibiotic to clear it out.

Kat-- You are an amazing mother...Kyle knows this, and also knows he can push and no matter how upset he gets you, he knows that you will love him just the same. I am sure I am in the same path you are in time with Ross...it is something about our "boys". I have moments I tell Ross "I love you always no matter what, but right now I don't like you very much"....I am sure that there are more of those moments to come...I am so sorry you are feeling down....It is so hard to parent sometimes....the hardest job ever!!

Lauren--The pics of the house are looking great!! I loved the one of you standing in the yard...you look fabulous! I hope you let us know when you make it home safe and sound, either on here or fb!!

I did have a chuckle at everyone's New Years Plans....we were all doing about the same....I think our days of wild New Years Eve's out are long gone...I was so happy to eat cheeseburgers and be in my pj's, lol. We did make it (the 3 of us) to midnight, but bed was soon after the ball dropped, lol. To bad we all didn't live near each other...we could have had a pajama party:rotfl:

Hmm I think I just might be caught up...for now at least;)....
I am going to get another coffee and get my Kindle turned on....
Have a nice Saturday night friends!
Supper is homemade pizza and a salad...I have bread dough thawing...

I have had sinus issues on and off for years; this particular one has been bad for about a month now. Some days are worse than others. The worse days include pain up into my ears, throbbing pain in my temples and under my eyes, and being lightheaded/dizzy from it.

I can't go to the doctor for it until September; if I go before that it will be denied for being a "pre-existing condition" and I'll have to pay out of pocket. I already owe almost $700 for an annual exam because "I've had one before, so it's 'pre-existing'". I'm appealing it since I never had a gap in insurance coverage, but what a pain and I haven't heard anything from them yet. I am ready to call up the ENT and make an appointment for September 1st. The regular doctor just says "it's Louisiana and there's nothing you can do for it except leave the state". Um, no. I wonder what state she suggests since I had sinus problems in Washington, Colorado, New York, AND Louisiana. :confused3

Yeah...not grumpy about it or anything...:headache:

Can you check and see if I am on this? I thought I was but I don't think I am?? :confused3 What info do you need for it?

Hi everyone I'm back I'll post again after I catch up missed you all.

Want to thank you all for all the Christmas cards it was so cool to come home rom Fl. and get to open all the cards Thanks again.

18 years! Wow! Is he on maintenance drugs? That is what the GI and I were talking about this week... I'm glad it was fairly easy for him!

If you didn't lapse in coverage, they can't deny you... have you submitted your continuous coverage paperwork? That's ridiculous. I HATE insurance companies.

I'm glad you're back! Hope you had a good trip :goodvibes

We had Christmas with the outlaws today. This was the first time I've seen them since that "incident" last January - almost a year ago! I, sadly, couldn't figure a way out of this event but it was fairly short and painless.

We were supposed to eat something with them but when we got there, we learned it was a brunch of sorts and the teenagers (theirs and the neighborhood kids!) ate all the quiche so all that was left was a bunch of fruit, veggies, and cookies. I can't eat fruit and veggies so I ate 4 cookies and held out until we left the house and went and ate something.

Since we ate around 330 or 4, we don't plan to do anything else for dinner. We are going to some friend's to play dominoes later and will probably snack then.

Aimee---He hasn't been on ANY medication since 6months after his surgery.

That is what I have heard, which is why I have not paid anything yet. And yes, I've submitted the information to them - TWICE. Meanwhile, I can't go to the doctor....for two and a half months now since this mess started. :headache:

I can't believe what you are dealing with, either. I don't know what I would do if I was in your situation.

I have moments I tell Ross "I love you always no matter what, but right now I don't like you very much"....I am sure that there are more of those moments to come...I am so sorry you are feeling down....It is so hard to parent sometimes....the hardest job ever!!

Wendie, you are so right. The last time Liam was in real trouble with me, I told him how much I loved him, despite how I didn't like what he did. He welled up in tears. I guess he thought I didn't love him.

I head to Emily Jan. 15th!!!!

That is so exciting! I hope you have a great time.

I can't go to the doctor for it until September

What??? That is crazy! If you have a sinus infection, you can not wait until September to treat it. What if you have something else that requires a doctor's visit before then? Oh, and the way I know I have a sinus infection is that I get bloody noses in the morning. I never get them any other time.

For dinner we had roast chicken, gravy, mashed potatoes, mashed turnips with fried shallots, spinach gratin, and green beans. I invited my ILs over since I knew we would have too much food and I was in the mood for cooking.

Wendie, I love that you called him "Bedula the Droola":lmao:

My girl had a great night last night. She slept from 8:30 to 5:45am. I think she was exhausted. It has been a couple of weeks since she has slept through the night (which she has done since a couple of weeks old).

We are still getting light flurries here. It has been steady all weekend.
DH & I decided to eat what was in the house and go shopping on Monday.
I hate having to take one of the kids out in the cold to go.

WFD- Meatloaf with gravy, rice pilaf, and mixed frozen veggies.

WOW I just went out to get my paper from the driveway. It is -4 degree not the windchill that's -20. Later I have to start my car and go for a drive it is too cold to let it sit still, plus I haven't gone any where since thursday.

Last night we ended up with pizza that I had in the freezer. Not sure WFD yet.

Bethany I would call the insurance company and find out what is going on. Try to talk to one person. It should not take this long to get a resolution. If you don't get a good answer move on to a supervisor. You shouldn't have too but making a complaint to the insurance commisioner is a option.

Aimee I don't have any thing to add just

We're snowed in here today, so that means no usual Sunday meal with Becky and my parents. However, I'll take the snow over Janice's freezing temperatures!

I'm not sure what we're having for dinner yet. I have lots of leftovers to choose from, or I could make a big breakfast dinner. We'll see what everyone is in the mood for later.

I think the snow has finally stopped...Kris and Ross have us, and the neighbors all dug out.....we got over 14 inches! Not as must as originally thought but more then enough!!

Our temps are actually quite warm today..upper 20's!!

Supper is sweet and spicy kielbasa, mashed taters (rice for Ross) and a veggie of some sort.

Here are some pictures. The antipasto plate from New Year's Eve:

It is now a balmy 7 degrees :cool1: It feels much warmer in the house today too :thumbsup2

Laura Be careful what you wish for! :upsidedow This weather makes it's way east.

Still haven't gotten anything other than breakfast and a shower done. Oh I did start the car all is good but I think I am going to stay inside today.

I really need to decide on dinner soon so it can defrost. Well I better get my lazy butt moving.

Janice- it is windy and cold here but nowhere near your temperature! BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

I have taken all of teh indoor decorations down, minus the tree. I still need to clean and take all of teh linens down and wash them but that is for tomorrow. As long as i vaccuumm the mess up today I am going to be happy. I need to get to the office that I clean so i cannot keep at this much longer.

Janice, seriously, if I lived where you do I'd never leave my house. I'd become a hermit. I don't deal well with cold... It's 45 here and I'm absolutely miserable and am refusing to leave the house.

Church this morning was good; afternoon activities and such kick off next week so this was my last Sunday of freedom. DH went to chaperone a youth event all day so I'm home alone :woohoo: I bought blueberries at the store this week because I looooooooooove them, they don't love me, but I think if I use them in pancakes they will like me better. I hope. So I'm making that with bacon for dinner tonight. He's eating with the kids.

Oh - BTW - I rented Toy Story Mania for the Wii on Friday night and it IS fun! Though my arm is tired, LOL!

I wish I figure out why my printer won't work and says it is offline. So annoyed!

Becky, pics look good as always. I want articokes now, thanks!
