I'm just about to get ready for our city night. Greg & I are going to Lincoln Center for the Nutcracker & then off for some champagne & caviar.....

Sounds like a wonderful night, you both deserve it!

Kat ,did you see my post about Rod Stewart ??

I sure did and forgot to post!! Please post pics if you have some.

My Christmas menu:

Veggie tray and dips
Roast turkey and gravy
Cornbread, oyster and andouille stuffing
Scallion sweet potatoes
Broccoli and cheese casserole
Emeril's cranberry sauce
Bacardi rum cake

I am offically in full panic mode. Will I get everything I said I was going to do? Will I get that and the gifts wrapped by noon tomorrow? :confused3

Right now I just want to lay down. It started with the freezing rain stuff. Needless to say it was a very fun drive home.:rolleyes1 I am soo not going out tonight. I certainly hope I have everything I need, since I checked twice.

Tonights dinner is porcupine meatballs that I made earlier and froze the leftovers. I'll make some noodles and a salad to go with it.

Maria Have a great evening. That sounds just like what you both need, a relaxing night out.

I really hope the mail comes through and everyone gets their cards. I really did try to get them out earlier. I just don't know where all the time went.:confused3

Oh I forgot to mention I also Love Rod Stewart. Does that make me creepy for liking someone way older?

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: Thanks for reminding me about that!

I have to say...I took a picture of a box of Kraft macaroni and cheese (intending to post it here) and then it was on my camera when I had it at work. I took the camera out to show someone a picture of Anabelle and that picture came up on the screen. The person was like "what...is....that?" :confused3 and I just said "ummm...." :rolleyes1

:rotfl2:

I saw The Princess and the Frog today. :goodvibes I really enjoyed it. :thumbsup2

Quick post here! Today has been a non stop running day! We took the kids to the dollar store to pick up gifts for their cousin party tonight. Then had to take the car to get the oil changed, and the emissions tested. Got that done, and the car is legal for another year. In between all of that, I managed to make a batch of fudge, some small pretzel candies with Hershey kisses, and the centers for some cookie dough truffles. I also had to make a main dish and a side dish for tonight.

Tonight we are going to my SIL's house for a family Christmas party. We do potluck where everyone brings a main dish and a side dish. I made PB&J sticky wings, and corn risotto. It's smelling really good, and I just hope it's all done in 30 minutes!!!

Once we get home, I need to make some cinnamon rolls, dip the centers of the truffles, and try to get the presents all wrapped and under the tree. The kids are getting a bit depressed that there's nothing there. I think, we'll be able to keep Timothy out of them tomorrow.

Dinner tomorrow night will be baked potato soup in bread bowls. After dinner, we'll pig out on chips and dip, candies, and cookies. Christmas morning, I'm making a peach french toast, and a ham and egg bake for breakfast. We'll snack around for lunch, and dinner will be a glazed ham, sweet potato casserole, green beans with lemon chiffon sauce, and egg nog gelatin salad.

Wish me luck!!! If I don't get back on before the holiday OFFICIALLY starts, I wish you all the merriest of Christmases! Thank you for all the cards, letters, etc. You are truly the best of friends! You have made this year so wonderful for me!!! I love you all!!!

Hi All,

It's crazy busy here. I still have tons to do, but we finally got the tree decorated tonight and my cards went out today, so progress is being made. The kids and Greg are watching Rudolph right now.

I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep up much right now, and I am even sorrier that I couldn't include a personal message in my cards (that might delay them until February) but I do want to thank all of you for your friendship. You are a great group of women, and I am so glad you are a part of my life.

Tomorrow promises to be another packed day, so good luck to everyone finishing up last-minute preparations, and I wish you all a very merry and happy Christmas.

Dinner tonight was clam chowder. Tomorrow we are going to a neighbor's house...I'm not sure what she is serving. On Christmas, I host my family in the morning. We will have cheese and herb strata, bacon, and fruit.

In the afternoon, I will host Greg's family and one neighbor family. The dinner menu is roasted pear salad with blue cheese, cranberries and toasted walnuts, seared fish with roasted vegetables and tomato buerre blanc sauce (think Jiko ;) ), and chocolate mousse, vanilla custard, fresh berries and cookies for dessert. I'll also make the roasted almonds I posted here and have cheese and other nibbles before dinner.

Merry Christmas Everyone!! :santa:

Robin, just in case I don't see you before Christmas, i am thinking about you. Your Gram was a lot like my Mom, she always had her shopping done way in advance. She gave all of us girls a special car medal for the car just before she passed, I think it was on her list and I treasure it more than anything else I ever got from her. Try to make this gift from your Gram a happy memory and not a sad reminder because she is always so close by.

I'm just about to get ready for our city night. Greg & I are going to Lincoln Center for the Nutcracker & then off for some champagne & caviar.....

Have a great night all.

Have a wonderful evening!

We had so much fun sledging we are heading back out now Colin is home !!

:yay:

:goodvibes

After that, I was done!!!!!! I decided I am going to do a "Countdown" to the New Year and make the other things next week and bring in something differant every day. :thumbsup2

That is a great idea! I still cannot figure out how you have so much energy!

I got your card today too and it made me laugh...

" Im glad you stuck around, even though you dont share your recipes...!! "

Girl, you made me laugh harder than I EVER had on this thread when you posted your food porn for the week.:lmao: That was brilliant!!!!!!!

OMG! I forgot that! :rotfl2:

I'm sorry I haven't acknowledged each & every card that we've received. :sad2: Just know that we loved getting all of them!! :cloud9:

Nan, You'll be happy to know that my original meal schedule will stand. Angelina & Josh will come early & probably rush off after eating to visit his family. I'm not happy about that, but I'm going to try not to dwell on it.

You may have noticed that I do not either. I love my cards but have amnesia once I get to the keyboard!

I think you made a great decision! There is no way you could have changed the time and survived.

Wendie- Thinking of you this week!

Glynis- I am glad that you can have a quick fix. The iron makes sense. I could not get out of my own way and it turned out I was anemic. I thought that I should just feel that way, it had gone on so long but it was awful. How you managed anything with 5 children is boondoggling!

So I had Taco Bell tonight. It was good but it will be another coulple of years before I have it again.

Tomorrow night we are going to my DMIL's for Christmas Eve dinner. I think Janice is making lasagna, meatballs and sauce, onions, peppers and sausage and Italian Bread. i am bringing a salad. There will be desserts galore!

My Christmas menu is still a work in progress. It is a grazing menu and I have never done that before. I am enviying Sheryl's dinner.

Sweet and sour kielbasa
BBQ cocktail meatballs
baked pasta (the one the kids like with the meat sauce and cheese and sour cream sauce)
fresh kielbasa
sausage balls with dipping sauces
salad
cheese tray
buffalo chicken dip
corn chowder
rolls and butter

Black Forest cake
chocolate cream pie
eggnog cake
derby pie
assorted cookies and bars

Whatever else people bring/
Janice is bringing the eggnog cake and the salad

I am finally done wrapping and I even cleaned up my mess.:thumbsup2

When I get up in the morning I'll bake the cranberry pound cake and put together the corn casserole. I am also making Ina Garten's roasted shrimp and cocktail sauce( not her's but a good bottled one)

Now I think I am going to go lay on the couch and watch christmas movies.

Fingers crossed that I don't have the kidney problem. Went to the doctor for a check up and my blood pressure was high. Now, my Mom had high blood pressure, heart problems, high chlorestoral, etc., but I've been doing good. Since its a drastic change (and I kinda freaked out about it) the doctor ordered up some kidney tests. But she really thinks its just regular high blood pressure and gave me samples of a medicine to start after the test results are in, which will be a week or so. Plus she's doing a thyroid ultrasound because I have a nodule or something there. Yet more family history rears its ugly head. :headache: And all I went in for was because I'm due for my mammogram and my rosacea has been acting up. Geez, and I wonder why I don't like doctors

Prayers are being said my friend.

Sorry I'm having time management issues.

No you aren't - you are having a family to enjoy. I am so happy that your trip was so wonderful and now Greg is home and able to enjoy you all. Have a very Merry Christmas!!

I heard back from the doctor this morning, and found out that I do not have diabetes, thyroid problems, kidney disease, or any of the other things they tested my blood for. The only problem is really low iron. So, I'm back on the iron pills. I don't mind. All things considered, it's an easy fix.

Praise the lord, this is wonderful news. I am so happy for you. Oh and we are going sking at Dillion in Colorado. The heart of the Rockies. Someday maybe we will come to your area. Oh wouldn't that be fun!?

I'm just about to get ready for our city night. Greg & I are going to Lincoln Center for the Nutcracker & then off for some champagne & caviar.....

Have a great night all.

Right back at ya sister. I can't think of anything better for you and Greg. My heart and soul go out to you both. Please, please remember that there is a reason for everything. We may not fully understand it now but someday we will. Don't EVER EVER EVER think that we don't want to know what is going on with you. Our prayers are always with you.

Lauren ~ Happy Birthday! I am so sorry I am late. But the wishes are still the same. for your brother. I will keep you all very close.

Becky ~ welcome home. Your menu sounds great.

Gretchen ~ I am so glad the kids liked the Runzas. But even more happy that Hailey liked the ornament. I made it just for her. My heart goes out to P & A I so hope their Christmas is a good time for them.

Kat ~ my friend  I so wish I was closer. I hope you are feeling better.

Sheryl ~ just to add my .02 - you are the BEST of friend and I don't want to ever hear you say you are a rotten one again. OK?? I know you are a bit down but please know that we all have been there and we will always be here when you need us.

Bethany ~ I am so glad that Annabelle is feeling better. I have so loved chatting with you. You make my day. Thanks!

Nancy ~ You are so right. I couldn't have said it better myself. What a good friend you are. Your menu looks amazing.

Aimee ~ I am loving the live trip report. I hope you and Mom are feeling better.

Lori ~ I know I have missed you but I so hope you and Rick are having a ball.

Robin ~ Budwiser :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: serves 'em right. You go girl!!

Janice ~ Thanks so much for the good thoughts. We really need them!!

Vickie ~ I hope you can move in the morning. ;) I would be so sore there would be no way I could move. I haven't recieved my card yet. :confused3 Have you gotten mine yet. I mailed it way over a week ago.

Wendie ~ Sweetie I love love love my pictures of Ross. What a great looking young man you have there. No wonder you are so proud.

I have loved every card I have recieved. What a great looking group of kids we have here. Each and every card has been such a joy. Thank you all so much.

Well so far, so good as far as the electricity. I think it is going to hold. PTL!!! We have gotten around 8" and the wind is starting to pick up tonight. We aren't out of the woods yet but we might just get by. Thanks so much for all of your prayers, PM's, and good thoughts. I really appreciate it.

Hopefully I will be able to get back on tomorrow. Have a great night all.

Laura - just enjoy having Greg home. We'll still be here!

Maria - I hope your evening was a blast! You certainly deserve a pleasant night.

Robin - enjoy the Christmas gifts from your Grandma. And like everyone said, make it happy memories.

Sheryl - yes, getting old stinks big time! :scared1:

Marilyn - those picture frames sound beautiful. You are very talented. Sorry that the cooke making didn't go to well.

Janice - Sorry you are in panic mode. I'm very lucky in that I just need to buy the gifts. My daughter (Erin) does the wrapping.

Glynis - I can just imagine what the kids are thinking if there are no presents visible yet.

:rotfl2:

I'd have liked to see that explanation take place :lmao:

Nancy - you had asked about my turkey with the mayo -it's the way my Mom did it; using mayo instead of butter. I just put a few large spoonfuls of mayo in my hands and rub the entire turkey and then season with salt and pepper.

Ellen - glad everything is so far so good. I'll keep you in my prayers that you stay that way.

Here's what we are bringing for Christmas dinner -
Roast and gravy
mashed potatoes
roasted veggies
eggnog cake
cookies and fudge
There will be a lot of other food, I'm just not sure what. My niece's BIL loves to cook and is very good at it, and they always bring a bunch of different dishes.

In case I don't get back here, I hope everyone of you and your families have a very Merry Christmas.

Glynis – Once again just reading your daily activities made me so tired.:worship: Happy Holidays to you and your lovely family.

Laura – Please don’t apologize for anything!!! My goodness, I’m impressed you managed to get cards out at all. I, too, appreciate our friendship. Your Christmas (JIKO) dinner sounds wonderful!

Robin – I am thinking of you on this holiday. The gift will probably one you will treasure more than any you’ve ever received.

Nan – I envy your grazing menu, looks really GOOD TO ME!:thumbsup2

Janice – Glad to hear you accomplished so much!!

Ellen – Hoping y’all continue having electricity, stay safe and warm my friend!

Good morning!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Christmas eve.

I couldn't sleep in this morning. I never sleep well when we have any kind of storm :confused3. The trees are covered in ice as well as everything else. I am waiting for the sun to come up before venturing out to get my paper. I wish I had a trained dog. My luck even if he would go out Hershey would only bring me back the plastic wrapper. He has a thing for plastic bags :confused3

Well I am going to get another cup of coffee and have breakfast, then I need to get the cake going.

Oh my goodness! I missed friends while I was posting last night. Sounds like everyone was super busy.

Janice- your panic mirrored mine except you got your things done. I did not. Oh well. Enjoy your Holiday!

Lauri- I missed your post, hope that your tests come out okay

Glynis- Timmy will probably get into teh gifts but that is part of the fun! Enjoy your Holiday! Are you going to IHOP today?

Laura- I am happy that I will get a card but it would have been okay if I did not, just knowing your family was together this Christmas is the best present!

Kat-

Ellen- your are the kindest person!

Okay back to business. I have the corn chowder made, my sauce for the pasta is done. I made those sausage balls and they better be good! They were a dog to make, super sticky and difficult to mix. Maybe I should have used a mixer but I did not.

Donny picked up his meat pies, I hope that they came out okay. I need to have one delivered to my brother. Mine will get baked today.

Today I need to bake my cake, make the chocolate and Derby pies and I may make a Millionaire pie. We'll see. Quick question. I want to assemble the pasta dish today to bake tomorrow. I am not useing WW pasta, I am using bow ties. If I undercook the pasta a bit and use plenty of sauce will it be okay? The white sauce is a combination of cream cheese and sour cream layers with the pasta that has been mixed with the meat sauce., It has a lot of cheese too.

I'll BBL but I am wishing my friends a Merry Christmas and a wonderful Holiday Season. TO those who do not celebrate Christmas but enjoy the Season I send you my happiest Holiday wishes for you. This thread has made the difference to me of having a close network of women and being to insulated at home. I understand how people who do not work outside the home can get skewed because there is not the opportunity to chat with a lot of people. Having all of you here to turn to brings that support here to me and I love that you are here. I stopped caring how some of my family looks at me when I refer to any one of you as "my friend from NOLA or NB or Chicago". Even Buddy stopped looking at me like I was whacked, you are as real to him as you are to me and I love you! :grouphug::grouphug:

Nancy I think the pasta will be fine. Whew! You have your work cut out for you today. Make sure you manage to sit down and relax.

Cake in the oven. The batter sure tastes good I hope the cake is good. I think I'll make the corn casserole later and bake it right before I go. That way it will be warm.
