The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

I like a lot of the same favorite Food Network chefs and shows that you guys like. I like Giada's recipes a lot, but she always seems to be seducing the camera man. I like watching her better when she's not on her own show.

Giada is the only one DH will watch with me :rolleyes1

I told Marisa the other day while we were chatting but needed to say I finally ordered my Keurig!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited!

I'm so jealous! I really really want one, but asked for GCs to Costco for XMas in hopes to get enough to buy one. They have the best deal that I've found so far.

You'll have to review the coffees and other K cups you try!

Good Morning! I should have some free time to catch up later...for now I wanted to post some pics.

Oh, I am so drooling over those fries. YUM!!! Great pics, I don't think your table is boring at all!

So, here is a dinner disaster story for you. The other night I made asian chicken (for me) and beef (for John) that I planned to serve over ramen noodles in a broth of sesame, garlic, and ginger. I had two pans going with the meat, plus the pot of sauce. I went to plate the food, filled one bowl with ramen, then somehow knocked the pot with the remaining ramen and all of the broth onto the floor. John jumped over to grab some paper towels to help clean up, and somehow knocked the other bowl of ramen onto the floor! So, no ramen or broth. All we had for dinner was the meat. I did not take a picture. :sad2:

:rotfl:

Love the pics!

Service was lovely this morning, though I was later than I wanted to be. My dogs opened the pantry door, dumped the trashcan (untippable my butt!), and ate lots of things out of the trash from Thanksgiving - including the "innards" of the turkey. So, the biggest culprit has had an upset tummy since (imagine that). The innards are actually good for them but in very small quantities since they aren't used to such rich organ meat. Anyways, he was up every hour or so last night, then the little one was up, then the middle one. I think we both napped 45 minutes at a time. I'm so exhausted! This is my only Sunday evening off until January so I will partake of the nap this afternoon :goodvibes

Tonight we'll plan on the steak and cheesy chili rice for dinner.

This year black friday at some stores was more cut throat. All the other years it was great people held you space in line and where friendly.

The rudeness level wasn't bad here it was just the amount of people. My cousin said they had to eventually close the Toy R Us near her because they had hit maximum capacity.

Will probably get food off the Wegmans Asian buffet tonight, have to take my DN's home. Then I come home and get ready for work tomorrow. :headache:

Hi everyone! Kenny and I spent yesterday watching college football and vegging in front of the TV. Today, we had an afternoon meeting with a contractor about the house. It went ok and answered a couple of questions we had. He's just the first one, so we'll see how it goes.

The lot is completely cleared now and it looks so different. Much bigger if that doesn't sound strange. :confused3 It's a half acre but it looks more like that now. Plenty of room for the pool if we can afford it.

Anyway, dinner last night was take out and tonight we're having pizza pasta for the kids. Talk to all of you later.

Glynis – Hope you feel better soon!

Becky – Thanks for bringing back your lovely photos!!!!!!!:worship:

Aimee – The dogs had Thanksgiving dinner!;) Sorry their tummy’s were upset.

Marilyn – Congrats on the new computer!!!!!

Gretchen – How exciting to be starting on the plans for the house!!!!

I know this sounds silly but I'm already a nervous wreck thinking about the Saints game tomorrow night.:sad2:

Becky, That goodness & Vickie & Aimee! ;) that you are posting your beautiful food & drink pics again!! That all looks yummy! Did you have a recipe for the cocktail? that could be de-sweetened a bit? I think I'll go google that for some ideas right now!

Aimee, I liked your pics too!
I'm so sorry about the dogs! What a mess!

Gretchen, I hope y'all find a great contractor! Prayers for that!

Kathy, Can you believe we have to go sign legal papers at 5:30 tomorrow night! I was mad & fussed at the poor DH! Don't these people know the Saints are playing the biggest game ever?

I am sick of turkey, dressing, & everything else that we had on Thurs.!!! I have to do something different with that turkey. Pot pie ?? chili??

Hi Everyone,

I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep up that much this weekend. Caili and I had a wonderful time at the Nutcracker today. She really went all out on her outfit...even her shoes were gold and sparkly. Her friend from skating who was in the show had a great part and she was terrific. I'm not even related to that little girl, but seeing her shine on stage was so heart-warming. Okay, I sort of cried. Caili is dancing with Boston Ballet this year, so she said she MIGHT be in the Nutcracker someday.

Vickie and Aimee -- Your pictures really made me laugh.

Maria -- Happy Birthday to Greg!

Gretchen -- I hope you are able to find a good contractor.

Lauren -- How did the house showing go?

Marilyn -- Congratulations on the Black Friday finds. I just can't do that.

Well, now it is time to get the kiddos to bed. I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend, and I'll talk to you tomorrow!

I know... I saw that!! I'm so tempted, but we just bought this TV and Blu Ray player. I feel like I should sit on my hands and be patient. But it's hard!! That's a good deal. :headache:

I  the Nutcracker. When I was about Caili's age, my parents splurged and took me and my little sister to see it when it was in town. I remember I wore a green velvet dress. Sometime in the first half, I got sick. Now - all I remember was being angry that my parents made us leave after all that, and I felt guilty for wasting my parents money on tickets :confused3 Evidently, I was really really sick and had puke all down my dress and obviously could NOT sit through the remainder of the show but all I remember was having to leave against my will

Evidently I'm still on "holiday" because I sent DH a text to grab Taco Bueno on his way home. I love their mexidips and chips.

I decided to go easy tonight. I have greek chicken breast and potatoes in the oven. I don't think any vampires will be bothering us tonight ;)

Sheryl How fast can you sign those papers? I would keep the chitchat to a minimum.

Does anyone here remember if Charlene's (Big mama) screen name was Big Mama with a space in between Big and Mama? I'm trying to send her a pm and don't want to send it to the wrong person.

I don't remember Kathy.

Dinner tonight ended up being Five Guys. I was meeting my sister at a movie theater, she was seeing The Blind Side, and when we got there the movie wasn't over yet. I took the girls over for dinner. I ate too many fries, I'm stuffed.

I did stop at Wegmens, needed bread and bananas, and got some Shrimp Purses. I'll have them for lunch tomorrow.

Laura, sounds like you had a great day. Maybe next year you would want to come with us to the ABT production of the Nut Cracker...we go every year & I still think it is one of the most beautiful sights in the world.

Janice, the apartment is in the "LOOP" section of Chicago. My cousin said just a few blocks from Whole Foods:confused3

Aimee, Greg brought home a Blu Ray player yesterday........I had no idea they also worked as a music system. We used it a today but I will never be able to make it play...

Kat, not sure about Charlene's name...maybe send her a note on FB?

The "Loop" refers to the loop the l makes around downtown. The l is the Elevaited train tracks. You will see them when you get downtown. I knew all this trivia was going to pay off one day. :rotfl2:If you ever saw Dark Knight they were featured there and in the old Blue brothers movies.

Yesterday was productive we got some decorating down. I managed to drag Mr Gruppy to the mall to get boots and shoes. 3 pair for $130.00 including tax since 2 of them where for Big foot I think I did really well.:woohoo:

wont be around today, I am going to a new Dr. for a physical. It has been forever since I had a GP. Taking DM shopping after.

Good morning everyone
So glad to hear everyones Thanksgiving went well. So much food and so many leftovers.
Lauren how did the showing go?
Sheryl I would sign the papers with as little chit chatting as possible and get home quickly.
Laura Caili was so pretty she looked like a little princess.
Becky thanks for the food porn looks awesome would love to have been a mouse.
Not to much new here but that is good. Mother in law is at Mayo clinic and I'm on the way to Dr I have had a bump the size of a marble appear on my ankle top of the foot. Hurts like crazy to put shoe on so were going to find out whats going on.

Have a great day everyone.

Dinner tonight is sweet potato gnocchi with browned sage butter.
I'm putting the egg nog that nobody wanted on Thanksgiving in the ice cream machine with rum & raisins.

Janice, thank you so much "Ms. Chicago" ;)

When Greg arrived at work this morning there was an email from Cameron.
I would like to share it but not post it on a public thread....if anyone would like to see it & give me your gut response I would be so grateful. I'm just spinning.

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a nice thanksgiving. We a nice, simple day and enjoyed being very lazy the rest of the week.

Becky- I'm glad your ramen noodle story didn't end worse. My cousin just burned herself a few weeks ago when she spilled them. She has giant blisters all over her arm, it looks very painful.

Sheryl- We had turkey pot pie and it was so good, much better than plain old turkey. I vote you make pot pie.

Gretchen- It must be so exciting to see your lot cleared, do you have a time frame when the house will be done? We have 1/2 an acre too, and at first it seemed so small but now I love how managable it is. I really hope your home building moves along nice and smooth.

Marilyn- Have fun with your new computer!

Well to be honest I really didn't care about the football game tonight, but now that I see "The Big Bang Theory" is a repeat, probably because of the game I'm a bit annoyed. Oh well, Alton Brown has a Christmas special on tonight.

Steak for dinner tonight with cinnamon butter gnocchi and acorn squash. Have a great day everyone!
