The What's for Dinner Thread- June 2012 (recipe index in OP)

Ellen - so nice you had a relaxing weekend.

Brandi - glad you had somewhat of a fun weekend, but sorry about your friend falling and the wall.

PIO - sorry your DS's school didn't get the sugar free memo! Hope you worked out your moral dilemma!

Space cadet - enjoy your lasagna!

Kim - glad to see you're still snarky!

It's funny how folks commented on how "Mom's meatloaf" is the best, as we switched from spaghetti to meatloaf, I gave her the recipe and ingredients that we needed to make it. What was funny is Fran and I were driving over a mountain pass and I must have dropped the calls to her at least 10 times. Tomorrow we get to drive the 300+ miles back home.

Last night we had rib eye steaks, mushrooms in burgundy wine sauce and sauteed spinach. Tonight we are having Lasagne. We turned the spaghetti sauce from the other night into lasagne yesterday. Dinner is all ready to go tonight, which is good because we have a full day ahead of us, and the whole reason we made the trek all the way up here!

SpaceCadet - Vegie Lasagne sounds delicious.

Brandi - How long now to your cruise?

Kimmar - Are you STILLl venting? I would have thought that you would have gotten your drool-ly milk under control by now. ;)
Caster sugar is probably called Baker's Sugar? It's just a finer grind of white sugar.

Ellen - I'm watching Sochi. My favourite winter olympic sports are figure skating, ski hill jump, alpine skiing and the luge.

Alison - Hope the visit with the folks is turning out to be relaxing for you and that you're not doing all that cooking!!!!

It's hot, hot, hot here. My share of the fruit salad is sitting in the fridge and I've been feeling rather guilty at not eating it. I think it might be breakfast tomorrow morning.

Good morning girlies,

PIO ~ You have done such a good job with cutting out the sugar. Don't stop now. He will never know if you ate it or not. But if you feel you must, take a small bite. It won't hurt and undo all of your work. I totally understand.

Alison ~ Your meals sound amazing - as always. Safe travels today!!

Everyone else down South ~ stay warm and safe in this winter mess. Spring is just 30 some days away.

Today is payday :yay: :woohoo: :cool1: THANK GOD!!! Whenever there are 5 Wednesdays then we have a 3 week period between pay checks. Most times this doesn't matter but with 2 trips into Lincoln, and Christmas just over, let's just say I am excited to go to the bank today. :lmao:

Choir practice and bells tonight. We are working on the Easter Cantata. So it will be an extra long practice now till Easter. But the music is beautiful and my favorite time in the life of my Church.

WFDT ~ White Chicken Chili and spicy skillet corn bread.

Make it a great day.

Thankful Tuesday

Stay warm everyone - :wave2:

Another cold, windy and dreary day out today - yadda, yadda yadda! But by the weekend it is suppose to get up to 50. I just might open the windows for a bit. ;)

We are really enjoying watching the Olympics. I am always so proud of these young people and their accomplishments. My favorite part is figure skating, and the skiing, but I really do love it all. Yesterday I watched the USA win in hockey and then the USA get beat by Fancy Pants (Norway) in curling. I think that is the neatest thing to watch. Just amazes me. Are you watching and what's your favorite?

WFDT ~ Chicken pot pie, and homemade onion bread.

Make it a great day all!!

Ellen,

I normally really love the Olympics, but for some reason, I just have not been into them this year.

I am glad you are enjoying them, I wanted to watch the Women compete in the Ski Jump since this is the first year they are allowing it.

I was saddened to hear that Shaun White did not even medal... :(

Have fun watching!

Well I must confess that my mother could not cook anything! I mean nothing! not even boil water! So no meatloaf for me... My Grandmother cooked everything, she was amazing growing up, and i miss her, I think I mentioned before that Peach fried pies were her thing, and I never learned to make them like she did. Hers were amazing!

6 days!!!!

6 days!!!!

Woot Woot!

Well today we leave my parents house and back to the real real world again.

PIO - I have not been cooking everything, but more of a tag team effort on the part of my mom and myself. I did assemble the Lasagne, but she made the sauce and the noodles. She made the salad last night.

After our trip to the Star Wars exhibit, we all wanted to watch the movies again. We saw the first one last night, and Fran and I are on a mission to see the rest before our trip in May to SWW.

Long drive ahead. I have to go pack the car and get going!

Morning all.

No cooking here either. I might get some done tonight....maybe. It's too hot and smokey here. The smoke from the bushfires have blown our way and covered the city for the last two days. We're hoping for rain today.

Happy Thursday!

Alison ~ Hopefully you are home all snug in a bug. :lmao:

Shortstuff ~ Did you bake a whole chicken or just parts? I love roasting them whole - also love the way my house smells when they are in the oven.

PIO ~ I have been watching your fires. Scary stuff. Hopefully it will rain.

Brandi ~ not long now. Man I wish I could stow away in you suitcase. I am really getting the wonderlust.

Kimmar ~ I never know what to say to you............:rotfl2: :lmao: :rolleyes1

I am almost afraid to say it but the sun is shining, no wind and we are to be up to 40 today with 50's over the weekend and maybe hit 60 next week. As much as I am ready to thaw out a bit, this weather is not what we need. Oh well we are never happy are we? Such is the life of a farmer. ;)

WFDT ~ Bacon Cheddar Burgers, pasta salad and sweet potato fries.

Make it a great day!!

WFDT? Baked snow, fried snow, sautéed snow, fricasseed snow, broiled snow, snow-a-la-king, toasted snow, snow creole, snow marsala,…..

Ellen, we plan a trip every February just for this reason, I am so tired of winter by Feb, and this gets me warm and ready to put with a little more! Come stow away! It would be fun!
