The What's for Dinner Thread- June 2012 (recipe index in OP)

Hi! SNOWMEGEDDON!!!!!!!!!! WE got a lot of snow here, but no ice! Thank goodness

Ellen- I know what you mean about not wanting the too warm weather this time of year. It is nto healthy at all. Plus all the snow starts melting, but the ground is frozen and there is no where for the water to go, and then it freezes! I also like to roast whole chickens, they are so juicy and tender.

Buddy is feeling better, but his recovery is up and down. Today he "off" and his balance is not there. Donny is taking him to the Ear Dr tomorrow, if the appointment is not canceled, and maybe he can shed light on this. I wanted to take him to the ER last night, but he had no part of it. There was some numbness on his rigth side, and that is worrisome. Donny will tell the dr for me, and see what he says.
Wish him luck please, he is sick of being off kilter and headachy.

We had a baked pasta dish today. i cooked ravioli and used it for the base of a casserole with meatballs, sausage and mozzarella cheese. it was so good! Buddy had little appetite, and his taste is off, so he does not want full meals, and is most happy with soup and a sandwich. I am planning a beef and barley soup in the ext day or so

….WTH??!??!? It's pouring rain now [we got about 13" of snow] and it's thundering and lightning…..:confused3 ….we are supposed to possibly get another 3" of snow….great…..fabulous….

…sooooo, WFDT? Thinly sliced steak, brown rice, and black beans….

We had chicken sausages with bacon and cheddar (inside) plus caramelized onions in a roll abd then salad and mac and cheese on the side. We're not very adventurous with all this packing to move and then not moving for six to eight months. Easy stuff ya know!

Friday night is here, thank goodness!

I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend. The rain hasn't started; seems like it got held up at Ayer's Rock/Uluru. But it is on it's way down. Maybe Sunday.

We bought some slop burgers for dinner tonight. Go figure! We can have fatty fried food on the quit sugar plan; but not fruit. :confused3

Yesterday we got Snow, rain, sleet, Ice and more snow. Not fun, glad you don't have to put up with that.

Prayers continue for Buddy, I hope today is a better day for him. You know when we get snow and a front moves in, I get fluid build up in my Eustachian tube and it causes me to be nausea. That might be part of his problem. I know inner ear problems effect balance.

Your baked pasta dish, sounds very comfy and gooey and wonderful, I would have eaten that!

We had steak and broccoli for dinner.

I have no idea how long it would take us to move, and pack everything. I am guessing if it was a hurry up job, everything would be thrown in boxes and moved and as I unpacked I would toss/give away things.

But if I had time to go through everything and only move what I wanted, it would take forever...

Happy Valentines Day!!

Kimmar ~ Wow you really got the snow. Stay safe and warm

Brandi ~ Oh the fun we would have. You are so right. I may need to start planning a cruise also in February. What a great idea!!

Nan ~ I am so anxious to hear what the Dr. says today. Maybe it is just he effects of the surgery but you need to have some answers. Please let us know how the appointment goes. Prayers are continuing - you know that.
Stay warm in this mess you are getting.

PIO ~ That is a bit funny - no sugar but all the fat you want. I still say the best diet is portion control and moderation.
Enjoy your quiet weekend.

Alison ~ I take it you got home ok. Now get busy packing. I can't wait for you and Fran to move in. I know with the remodel it will be awhile but hopefully it goes fast with no major setbacks.

I am so darn excited - can't wait for this day to be over. Marty and Stephanie are going to the Band Perry Concert tonight (so VERY jealous) and then down to Manhattan Kansas with Matthew tomorrow for the BBall game. So that means we get Lilly!!! As soon as I get off of work I am going over to give the boys their Valentines then heading to Kearney to pick her up. Last night Doug and I got her room all ready. We got some bed rails for her bed - hopefully she won't fall out. And it looks so pretty and all ready for her. We are going to have so much fun and we have till Sunday to spoil her rotten.

WFDT ~ I am bringing Jimmy John's home. Such a gourmet meal for Valentines Day. After 34 years we are good!! :thumbsup2

Make it a great day and a wonderful weekend.

That is hard for me in my way of thinking about food, but if it works for you, I mean they change the definition of what is good and what is bad for you all the time!

David has decided that I am fully off my rocker for going on this 6 week plan of only fruits and veggies...

We are planning a cruise for Feb in 2015 out of Galveston, around the 15th... Want to join us?

I have no idea how long it would take us to move, and pack everything. I am guessing if it was a hurry up job, everything would be thrown in boxes and moved and as I unpacked I would toss/give away things.

But if I had time to go through everything and only move what I wanted, it would take forever...

It is sort of stressing me out. First we need to figure out what to do with all the stuff in Olga's apartment. We ahve an entire room filled with musical instruments. Many of which we no longer need. Some are collectibles. We really need to purge and only take what we want.

PIO - what are slop burgers? Does DH eat them?

Ellen - sounds like you have a wonderful evening spoiling the little one!

Kim and Brandi - I hope the weather lets up.

Nancy - I hope Buddy is feeling better soon, and I hope you get some answers.

Tonight we are going to a special dinner being hosted at the Disneyland Hotel. It should be nice.

Nancy - Hope you got some answers at the Dr.

Ellen - Hope you have a wonderful weekend with Lilly. Sounds fun!

Brandi - Keep safe and warm.

Alison - Slop or sloppy burgers? Our burgers over here are a little different. A burger with the lot has egg, bacon, cheese, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, and sauce. Some might come with a grilled pineapple circle as well. With all that amount of food, add the fact that the bacon, egg and cheese will be oily and slippery. By the time I take about 2 bites, the burger has slopped everywhere and I'll be picking up the filling to shove it back on the bun. Fun to eat.
DH has a vegetarian burger.

My cat is not too good again. :headache: I guess the cortisone lasts about 10 - 12 days.
