The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

Hope all is well. Busy day yesterday...Andrew had a game. He has improved - I am so proud of him and all the practice he has been doing.

Tell A I am very proud of him too and I'd love to see a pic of him in his baseball uniform.:goodvibes

WFD - White beans & rice with grilled sausages and a chopped salad.

It's been quiet here today.

Lauren -- :thumbsup2 for Andrew. It's so great when their hard work pays off.

Caili has skating and Liam has a baseball scrimmage tonight. My parents are handling the baseball game and taking Liam out to dinner beforehand. Caili and I will probably have sandwiches.

Good Morning! I hope that Monday finds everyone well.
Maria- Just in case I miss you, best luck tomorrow. I will be thinking of you and hoping to hear that the surgery has given you much needed relief.

Lauren- How did Andrew do?

Kathy- have you heard anything from that :headache: buyer?

I hope to check in later today but I am not sure that I will. My Aunt is not doing well, she is 95 and I think that it is a matter of days. We took turns staying with her all day and night yesterday, she is not waking. She suffered a seizure or stroke while I was with her, and that seemed to make her very uncomfortable. Gail is with her now, she spent the night. I will go after she and my cousin come up with today's plan.

edited to ask that you say a little prayer that she passes in peace, it is her time and she seems to be taking her time finding her way. This is to be expected, she never did have a sense of direction and was easily sidetracked.....I am her niece in this regard..... so I can understand why her journey is taking longer than the nurses thought. We always allowed double the time we needed to go anywhere because we always seemed to take the scenic route.

I have news and you're not going to believe it!

I have a new sister-in-law!

:cheer2: congrats...

!

Dinner tonight will be A-1 and Dijon steaks in the crockpot. Don't know how it will turn out, but it was given a positive review on the crock pot blog. I'll let y'all know how it turns out.

I love A1...thats on my must buy list for October.Im sure it will be ok in my case !!

Good morning! Today is a big day - I am baptizing someone for the first time.

.

Nope, don't expect to. Because it's such an old house and has been vacant for years we can expect lengthy inspection reports every time. We just need the right buyer who's ready to buy "as is".

Had to think about my Mom when you said this, Mom always took the same route.;) Prayers for a peaceful passing for her.

A quick check in. I will read back and properly check in later but I wanted to let you all know -

Hug the ones you love.

It is such a sad day here at our little church. We have just gotten word that one of our members has died very suddenly.

Her and Doug sang together at our early service just yesterday. Her name is Karen Darby. Karen was a VERY good friend. This is such a shock and loss. She will be soooooo very missed.

You just never know when your time will come. Please take today and tell the ones you love how important they are. Call them, hug them or pray for them. I will never be able to give Karen a hug again or hear her lovely voice. I did tell her yesterday how I enjoyed the song that her and Doug sang. Oh so beautiful. What a very sad sad day.

I'll be back later

Ellen, :hug:sorry for the loss of your dear friend. You gave wonderful advice taking time to tell those you love what they mean.

Nancy, sorry about your aunt.

Maria, sending prayers for tomorrow.

Lauren, kudos to A for his hard work paying off... keep it up kiddo!!

I was a bit MIA this weekend, but all is well. DS is regressing with his sleep once again and it is paying it's price on this advanced maternal age pregnant mom. :rotfl: I need to find some solution before Emma comes.
My Dad has been good listening to the doctor's orders and resting to ease his pain. I am going to take my Mom shopping while Dad is napping and then have dinner with them tonight. He told my Mom that Luke is good medicine for him. :goodvibes Sunday was there 51st Anniversary!! It seems like yesterday I was telling you all about there 50th party I was planning. Boy how time flies.

Have a wonderful day my friends!
Ann

Great news!!!:cool1:

Maria - Thinking of you and hoping all goes well tomorrow.

Forgot to mention, I think Kyle has a fractured rib. He was wrestling with a friend Saturday and has been in pain since. Just called the doc and there's really not much other than pain meds which he doesn't want. Any suggestions? I've been giving him ibuprofen and we have him wrapped.

Ellen, I am sorry about your friend.

Marisa, that is such great news! I am sure that Kady will be thrilled.

Dinner tonight is going to be oven fried chicken, cole slaw, potato salad, and devilled eggs. Oh, and biscuits. We are off work today because it is a holiday here in MA and we are both starving so I think dinner is going to be in about an hour. I'll probably fall asleep before Dancing with the Stars even comes on.

Kathy, for the rib I think all you can do is keep him taped up.

Lauren - Congrats to A!

Ellen - I'm so sorry for your loss. It's never easy!

Nancy - Prayers said for your aunt. I hope her passing is peaceful and beautiful!

Kathy - Not much you can do for a broken rib. Make sure he coughs, even though it hurts. You don't want pneumonia developing!

Maria - Good luck on surgery tomorrow.

Dinner last night was pretty good. I made a mixture of equal amounts of A-1 and Dijon mustard. Then I spread it over both sides of some steaks. I put them in the crock pot, and poured 1/4 cup beef broth over them. I cooked them on low for 7 hours. They were so tender we didn't need a knife to cut them. Pretty good flavor. Not wow! but all my people ate them.

Dinner tonight is something with chicken. Not sure what, yet, as I'm too tired to think straight. Not only has Timothy been getting me up numerous times at night, but I've been dogsitting for my dad, and the dog was up several times each night, as well. I'm glad I'm giving the dog back tonight!
