I was blessed with another beautiful day, upper 70s, sunshine and a breeze! I can't believe it. The rain held off until 9. It felt good to get my 3 miles in.

So in order to have wagons pick up product the homestead had to take up little room as possible but also have several walls exposed to...solar heat...so a corner of the land plot was used to build infrastructure ..and eventually a community road for a route and these happened when the initial pioneers of the 1800s. .. began to sell off land... this land was flat... from South of Salem to North Eugene...it is flat land so easy to carve into real estateCan you tell me why a curve indicates a house once stood there? I find that interesting. There hasn't been a home built on our stretch of road for decades and DH family had been at this location for almost a 100 years.
There is Internet info on Oregon homestead daffodils and festival and the famous Halsey,99e groomed daffodilsHomestead... just like Oregon... especially in the middle of the Willamette valley where nothing is grown but seeds for future natural grass turf and go around a corner and there on the shoulder is a bounty of daffodils...no house in site but the curve is evidence that a farm house once was there in garden beauty ... daffodils are so hardy and I don't think they taste good to gophers

I saw another one today but I came up too quickly and he ran.I love the bunny pics!!
Wow![]()
the stems and "bearded"...or "flagged" adjectives make it look related to Iris family...new York stream near barracks look similar but not that bright orange....so I have a narrow view of identity of wild flowers since Oregon lost it's natural Flora... you have to hike in the wilderness to find any beauty... how common is the flower on your morning time
Nice crisp Spring morning here in North Central Louisiana, with the moon several days past full. Mostly quiet, except for the call of a Great Horned Owl off in the woods before daylight. Won't be too long before the whippoorwills begin sounding off. Good stuff!!

Very, very distinct call from the Barred Owl (Stryx varia). "Who, who, who... who cooks for you!" Haunting! We've been hearing a lot of Barred Owls of late but I haven't heard the Great Horned ones here in a while. There's a stretch that I walk most days where I often hear a pair calling to each other, but it's usually a little later in the spring.
Oh..... that explains it... our desert owl family... when they come to our street every six months....huge complex neighborhood.... where's cat... where's catVery, very distinct call from the Barred Owl (Stryx varia). "Who, who, who... who cooks for you!" Haunting!

You are not alone in this. Sometimes those special goodies are very tempting and cravings are very strong and hard to resist. It's no fun to be at a party or gathering and have literally nothing safe to eat so you eat what you brought in the car so you don't have to answer the same questions .... again. I am good 99% of the time, but once in a while those cravings make me crash and burn.Happy Monday.
Today will likely be a 2-parter. That was not the plan, but that's how it's going. I have a love/hate relationship with holidays and special occasions. I try to allow myself to enjoy a lot of the goodies, but my body makes me pay the price. I'll spare you the details. I do have a rule though...if I'm feeling unwell and it's because I ate/drank things I know will make me sick...especially if I did it in excess...I will try and push myself back into a healthier pattern. Like, this is the price you pay for not being kind to your body. i.e. it's not like a picked up a stomach bug. So, I went out this morning and just walked according to my normal route. I wasn't feeling wonderful but I was managing...until just shortly after the 2 mile mark. I started to get some preliminary warning signs that I needed to head home. So, I listened to my body...turned around...and started heading for home.
All in all, this was not a pleasant experience. I wound up getting in 4.36 miles but will likely try for another 2 after work. It's really too bad I couldn't stop because the clouds and the moon looked so neat over the lake this morning. Oh well.

TiggerTigger, that looks gorgeous! It's no wonder you feel compelled to get out and walk there!
The weather here has been uncooperative the last 2 days. Intermittent rain, cutting wind, and cold. Tomorrow chance of snow. SIGHI'll live vicariously through your pictures.
