The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

My boys are home all week

Dh's parting words this morning.. put the boys to work. Uh, sure...

I haven't nagged them yet, I have a good dose of caffeine and chocolate in my system.. I gots no worries :thumbsup2

Wednesday I am to make dessert to bring to my parents.. I stopped at the grocery store two days in a row..

No pumpkin

WHAT??!!

Just days before Thanksgiving and they don't have any Libby's pure pack pumpkin?:confused::confused::confused:

One of E's co workers commented on the lack of pumpkin in stores (and she doesn't live/ shop in our area). I tell ya, it's a conspiracy to force us to buy their crappy generic brand (it looks grey when you bake it into a pie-- gross!). :snooty:

I should have picked it up at Super Target. :guilty:

Maybe I will just buy some pies at Aldi's instead.

Also on Wednesday, someone is coming to swap out E's machine. Due for maintenance since it has run for 4,000 hours, it goes beeeeeeeeeeeeep beeeeep beeeeeeeeep when I turn it on and I have to slap some buttons to get it going again. It would be nice if we got a new machine, but not counting on it. Machines get sent in to be fixed and they send them back out again for someone else to use. The one we currently have was a used one from our center, it was dirty and dusty. Yuck!

AND

Eloy is finally going to have his permcath pulled from his chest. :cool1:

Very minor procedure, they cut a few stitches, yank it out, stitch the hole closed and check for bleeding for an hour before he gets booted out the door. From there we will pick up tamales at the Mexican deli (yum!), we figured we should bring one really yummy thing in case dinner is a total bomb. :thumbsup2

Then it's VRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooooooooooooooooMmmmmmmm over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house we go.... :car:

Okay... My hubby has the week off, right? SO I am taking the day off today. He gets to do everything I normally do, with only minor coaxing and instruction from me. ;) He is going just a teeeeeny bit crazy. But Im good. :lmao: I think I might take a bath.

Did you guys see that the rates for the Fairfield in have jumped up a bit??

Hello ladies. I meet with my trainer today!! I had a shower but my hair is so shiny it looks greasy. I'm contemplating another shower so the trainer doesn't think I'm dirty. I probably won't though because I'll have to shower after my session.

So I checked out my profile page today for the first time since I joined and I noticed my birthday says July 21. That's not my birthday, why would I have put that?

Hi guys.

I still can't believe that Dawn's gone. :sad1: It happened so fast. I haven't been able to post on the Ladies thread yet...I can't read all the stuff that people are writting, it makes me too sad, yesterday I was on there a little bit and each time I almost start crying and I don't want to just start bawling at work and have everyone asking what's wrong.

You're starting his on the job training now for February? It will take that long right?

I will need to teach the boys to help with dialysis, Eloy does his own needling but now that the access is in his bicep he needs a bit of help to make connections and to pull needles at the end. The tubing on the fistula needle is a little bit too short for him to reach. Plus I squish the artery up higher to have the site "pop up" for easier needling. (his clinic gave him a tourniquet that is made for lower arm use, too small)

If they made the tubing just two inches longer and he had a bigger tourniquet to fit on his upper arm, he could be independent again. But of course all the supplies are made for medical staff to use on someone...not for self use.. :headache: grrrr
----------------------------------------------
Funny to us tidbit of news from E's family. Talking to his mom, E found out not only did his brother quit school but his sister was enrolling into a program to be...

drum roll please....

a dialysis tech!

:rotfl:

We just thought it was odd that his sister didn't call and tell us herself...

you know..

considering.....

her brother has been on dialysis now for 9 years.

:rolleyes1

I told Eloy that we should call her and insist she come help him dialyze, do our own little on the job training. Between the two of us, we could teach her everything she needs to know. ;)

I noticed the prices had changed about a week ago, now the Marriot by the convention center is cheaper. Not sure if Alison made a cancel able reservation or not.

I don't think I met her.
But yes it was fast, startling news and makes one feel a little nervous.

One day here, next gone.

The good part, lots of people on the boards showing their love for each other.. helping each other during this time.

You're not alone. :grouphug:

I talked to her a little bit on the last Ladies Trip but I really got to know her through the Dis Boards this past year. I was really looking forward to spending more time with her in February. She was just such a sweet lady.

I completely understand. I just talked to her a few times.. She had twin grandbabies.. and Just loved when I popped a picture over there. She was a very nice person, and it was way to fast.

Yep we're weird and we like it that way. :thumbsup2

Ahheemmm....TAG FAIRY!!!

I have no idea why I quoted this...:confused::confused:.

So you could celebrate twice in one year.;):confused3:dance3:

Sorry I haven't been around lately. We've been going to the gym every night. I've been working my rear off and I've been in bed by 9 most nights.

I just read about this. I didn't know Dawn but she seems to have touched many people's lives. So sad and very frightening and shocking for many when it happens suddenly.

I found the prized cans of pure pack pumpkin at Target... woohoo for me. Will bake my pumpkin custard dessert thingie on Wednesday, I was planning to bring a pecan pie too (cheaper to buy already made) but Eloy spotted a chocolate dream pie and refused to have the pecan in the cart. :lmao: Odd combo.. pumpkin and chocolate pie for Thanksgiving dessert?? :upsidedow

Tomorrow is the busy day. New machine delivered, yank out the permcath and pick up tamales Mmmmm, tamales...

Today I dirtied up my tiny kitchen with making an enchilada casserole. New to me, hope it's good. Basically it's like lasagna but I used chicken, salsa verde mixed with sour cream and corn tortillas in layers. Less work than rolling tortillas for enchiladas but turned out to just as fussy to put it together.

I sent the guys to do Noah's student led conference, my joints hurt today. :guilty:

You did know there's a pumpkin shortage this year in the midwest. It was on the news, too much rain so many of the pumpkins got ruined. Thus the pumpkin pie filling shortage.

Here's an authentic Ark-Mex recipe for you B.:lmao:

Grannie Arkansas's Mexican Chicken.

1 whole chicken boiled & deboned or 3 chicken breasts boiled & shredded.
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
2 cans Rotel tomatoes w/chilis
2-3 cups grated cheese
1 bag Doritos

Mix soup & Rotel together in bowl. Layer chips (slightly crunched up), chicken, soup mixture & cheese. Two layers in baking pan. Bake 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until bubbly throughouts.

Haven't found anybody that doesn't like this recipe, teenagers especially seem to like it.:thumbsup2

Really?
Well we did have the "moonsoons of October" as Justin's band teacher said in closing ceremony for marching band. We had more rain (and snow) in September and October then we do now. Usually by Thanksgiving we have a couple inches of snow cover, we got nothing, it's drizzly and foggy instead. I can live with that kind of weather for the entire winter :yay: though our travel economy would really suck.
