The tacky continues...

People complain when stuff is in the middle of being repaired or fixed and has a scrim over it. People complain when, instead of doing that, they use a (likely) temporary fix. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

This is just not something that even registers on my care meter. It doesn't impact a second of someone's experience in the park. I think some of you are just actively looking for things to be upset about.

Scrims never bother me. Never, ever. I do prefer when scrims blend in with the environment, but it's fine. But this is not a temporary fix. This is permanent. This is Six Flags levels of Show, and Show is a Key.

And honestly, right now I could stay at one of the most exclusive hotels in Venice for the price of a Disney hotel. Elite prices should have elite EVERYTHING. It's funny, I've been a Disney defender on everything until recently. I'm still going. I'm still paying. I still have Boo Bash tickets. But this looks stupid and lazy.

They could have at least got the bubbles out of the decal. Even the stickers on the windows of our KFC have looked better than that.

Is it possible that they are currently in the process of creating brand new signs that will replace the old FP+ signs, and they are simply using these stickers as temporary signage until they can install new ones?

A very possible explanation but jumping to outrage is easier.

Not sure where I saw it, but I'm pretty sure they were confirmed as permanent. However, I also just saw that these are the only two that have turned up looking this way, so perhaps just these two are temporary and the rest are permanent installations.

To be fair, finding this tacky is not the same as outrage. Saying that I think something looks dumb is not outrage. Some of the defenders here are extremely thin-skinned when someone points out ANYTHING they don't like. It's kinda weird, tbh.

I'm not a hardcore defender. I just pick and choose the stuff that's actually worth my emotional attention. This ain't that.

That's fine. Can you grant me the same grace? Because it looks like we were on the same side of the argument when people were bashing the Boo Bash as being a total letdown. People who hadn't attended were looking to criticize, and it was pretty obvious.

Visuals are a big deal for me. And for MANY others. If they aren't for you, move on, I guess? I'm not outraged in the least. Outrage doesn't keep booking and so far, I haven't stopped. I'm going in October and I'm going to have a ridiculously good time. But that doesn't change the fact that I'm annoyed (not outraged) at how lazy (or perhaps backlogged or understaffed) Signage is getting.

Is it possible they are spending money on new signs? Of course.

Is it likely they are spending money on new signs? Imho no. This project is about squeezing every dollar possible about of the FP lines and new signs would be a waste of money.

But I would be happy to be wrong. I’d like the sign I stare at longingly remembering the good old days of when I could walk under it for free to at least look like it’s too expensive for me to afford to walk under 😂

Could be temporary to see if enough people pay for the lightening lane…

Maybe they wanted to get the words "Lightening Lane" in front of guests' eyes so that they would look longingly at the sign while standing in a long line and think, "what is that line and how the heck do I get in it in the future"!? Key the google search, and that is how marketing works...

From the pics I've seen, only a couple appear to have the temporary look, most of them look like brand new signs.

The pictures I've seen do look like a lazy effort. Filling in or covering the embossing would not have added a significant amount of time or effort (or cost) to the job and would have avoided the criticism.

Yea, my care meter goes in reverse with this stuff. I think people just like to complain. Combine that with unrealistic expectations and you have massive 1st world problems.

I’m never going to understand the “first world problems” comments on here. A DISNEY forum. Everything Disney-related is first-world. It is tacky-looking. Same thing when we’re at the parks and see dead plants in the flower beds, or majorly peeling paint, or trash piled up. The pp who said Disney in known for their almost-perfect “show” is spot on - these chintzy, cheap-looking stickers don’t fit. Little tiny steps on the road to feeling more like Six Flags, rather than the most famous, most expensive theme park in the world.

Exactly! Disney isn't just first world! Most of the first world can't afford it! It's literally at these prices a luxury vacation. I've been on luxury vacations. Cheap, slipshod signage is absolutely an ok thing to be annoyed (not outraged) by.

People are literally on property paying two car payments or a mortgage payment per night for the hotels alone. The parks are up to $1000 per day for some families who add Genie+.

Every. Single. Problem. On. This. Forum. Is. A. First. World. Problem.

LOL, yes! This was my thought. I'm one of the rare few who isn't bothered by Genie+ (some might have assumed from my post that I was just a complainer, but I'm possibly very alone in being kind of excited about G+.) But the press and feedback have been horrendous. I just can't believe that knowing that, they'd leave vestiges of FP+ right there for people to see as they remember, "Oh yeah, remember when this was free???" I thought it was funny! (And tacky.) 😂
