The Real Housewives of WDW - 11/15: In Closing

Well, I've got two trips in the works. The man and I are heading down to POP for our first trip to the world together: 9/19-9/25. And I'm doing the Princess 1/2 Marathon in 2011 and will be making a trip of it at AKV: 2/25/11-3/5/11.
Sweet! Never say never, but chances are we'll miss you in Sept. (I'm back to school, which equates to zero free time again). Feb. is a good bet, though! :thumbsup2

Scratch that....reverse it. We got there first. I was antsy.
Oh, that's right! I really need to start checking with you guys before posting. :flower3:
Uh, yeah...about that challenging year.:headache:
I know.
Nope....only a house that required a new roof.
BUT, it led to a much better opportunity! :thumbsup2

Yup. The California family had a tough time waking up that morning. :rolleyes1 You all waited for us at SE's entrance.

She was still hurting her neck at that point staring up at my oldest. She's such a sweetie.:cloud9:
:lmao: That's when she started making her rounds. Since Evan & Bite 3 quickly bonded, Maddie bounced between 1 & 2. And they were so nice to my Little Miss Chatty Cathy. ;)

Now about that TT ride. I KNOW I have pics somewhere.....just can't find them. Me and poor LL got stuck in a car with 4 other strangers. But, we made the most of it, since our strangers were no fun at all! :sad2:

Love the update. It looks like Leo is conquering all his ride fears. We have a ways to go with Abby, but I don't want to push it. I find that if I try to push it, she regresses a little bit. She sure does want to do things on her own time. I like letting her wait until she in comfortable (although I am getting a bit antsy - haha).

Thanks! And Leo's is very much like that - he can't be pushed. I jsut trust that he'll let me know when he's ready. But all of a sudden, he's definitely wanting to be more daring! :woohoo:

LOL - I didn't even FEEL you picking my pocket to swipe that picture! LOL:rotfl2:

Oh my gosh... your reaction to Sum of All Thrills is EXACTLY the reaction I had. Of course, I had to make Tyson think that I had just ridden the best ride of my whole life!! The process of that exhibit is cool.. but the actual ride? Meh....

Another fun update, V!!! Ready for more!:surfweb:

Hehehe... that's 'cause I'm brown. ;)

I'm so glad to hear I'm not alone! Really, I wondered... was I too hard on it? But shoot - I give the Jack Rabbit at Kennywood mad props and it's not even considered a "thrill" ride!

Thanks! Hopefully by end of the week; I've got some major writing going right now for other things. Things that, you know, pay me to write. ;)

Okay. So, The Plan said to spend the evening in Epcot (EP).

But Plans are made to be broken. ;)

Earlier in the day, we discovered that Kate was planning a Magic Kingdom (MK) evening. Knowing that her family wasn’t staying at WDW for as long as we were, we wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. Also, we (I) were really, really sick of walking around EP in the rain by that point.

But wait… was there rain??? I don’t remember. But know this: we didn’t take the boat AGAIN from the hotel to EP. Was it due to rain? Did we just plain miss it? Who knows. All I know is that of the three nights spent at the Yacht Club, we only managed a boat to EP ONCE.

So yeah, we hoofed it yet again. Around the bend, over the hill, to Tutto’s house we went. Remember how we’d noted just two nights earlier that we could easily return to Tutto Italia for meals many times in a trip? Well, we did!

This trip to Italy was to be with Lauralee (LL) and family, with whom we met up in the Tutto lobby and were quickly seated.

Aaaahhh! I just love that place. Really, I do. Though I kind of wonder if I’d love it as much outside of WDW. At home, $35 for salmon seems a bit much, even for exceptionally good salmon. Even living in tourism central. But at WDW? Meh, what’s another $35, right?

I did not, however, partake of the salmon that night. Instead I went with the Penne Caprese. LL and Tony ordered the giant antipasto for us all to share, so I had an appetizer – highly unusual for me.

Oh my heck, was it good! LL, thanks again for convincing me to dig in! Marinated mushrooms and artichokes, a variety of meats and cheeses, roasted veggies… it was a scrumptious start.

Especially alongside my drink of the evening, a Bellini. Yuummmmm. Unlike other incarnations I’ve had, Tutto’s Bellini is not over sweet, but fresh and crisp. I detected not a hint of syrup in there, but a perfect smattering of pureed peach blended with the prosecco. Truly, it was perfection in a champagne flute.

As you can see, the boys were having a wonderful time, too. I think they were playing some version of I-bet-my-Lego-guy-can-kill-your-Lego-guy-nuh-uh-my-Lego-guy-can-cream-your-Lego-guy. I don’t know. I tried to edit them out and focus on my Bellini. ;)

Oh! And dessert. Too. Having previously enjoyed the chocolate torte on Night 1, I went for the cannoli on Night 3. Oh yes. Just like Grandma Carrie used to make! Only…
better. Ssshhh, don’t tell.

As you might imagine, it was with exceedingly full bellies that we eventually left Tutto. We seemed to be in slow motion, so I took advantage of that and managed to grab some photos while we were bathed in good light…

That’s still not the Good Camera, by the way. The Good Camera remained locked in the room safe.

Somehow we dragged our overstuffed, hot, tired bodies toward the front half of EP and split up. Because LL and I had separate missions to complete before journeying to the MK. LL had some Fast Passes for Soarin’ to use. Leo and I? We had a cell phone to find.

Oh yeah. Remember Cell Phone Gate? Well, truthfully, I’d just have kissed it goodbye, but we needed to walk right by Guest Relations anyway to get to the monorail. Since we’d be right there, and since LL and company had their own quest to complete, Leo and I took a chance and inquired of the nice Guest Relations folks, “By any chance has someone turned in a tiny black cell phone that has no bells or whistles and displays “Mommy” when I call it from my phone here?”

And lo and behold…

THEY DID! They actually had Leo’s phone. I was stunned. Numb. Bedazed. Awed. And fifteen other ways of saying “Holy shizzle, I can’t believe nobody stole it!”

Leo, he was sitting on a bench, gazing forlornly out the window. He hadn’t been himself all day. I could tell he was worrying about having lost the phone again. So I really, really wish I could have a picture of his face when I turned around, phone in hand, and said “Leo? Look!” I watched his face alight, his shoulders toss away a world of stress, and a deep sigh escape his chest. That was one happy, relieved little boy.

I did ask if he’d learned anything form the experience… to which he answered, “Yes. I don’t want to carry a phone any more. It’s too much resfonsifility.” LOL! Fair enough. I tucked it away in my bag and it stayed tucked away the rest of our trip. Maybe next time.

With that mission accomplished, we settled in to wait for our friends. Guest Relations (GR) is air conditioned, quiet, and has a nice bench from which you can people watch the passers by. It also received some, er… interesting situations.

We witnessed a woman in a scooter and her husband storm into GR and go ballistic on the poor cast members on duty that unfortunate night. Apparently, the husband had been in earlier to request a Guest Assistance card for his wife. And, he said, had been told that his wife needed to come in for it instead. The wife was NOT. PLEASED. In fact, she was “****ing pissed!” I know. Because she informed everyone within a five block radius of this fact.

Oh. Goody.

She also let us all know that her little dog was stressed and peeing itself over and over because she had to get so angry about the whole thing. Also, she was pretty sure she was being discriminated against and thought she’d maybe file a lawsuit before leaving Florida.

Up till that point, I’d been silently wondering how long this would continue before the Disney Suits escorted them out of ear and eye shot of other guests until the situation was resolved. Well, at the first mention of “lawsuit”, I swear you could actually hear the rustle of acetate lining as The Suits made their move. One took over the GR desk, shooing the regular cast members backstage, while another escorted the nasty couple outside and around a corner.

And with that, I got the message from LL that they were done Soarin’ and Leo and I headed out to meet them at the monorail. So I don’t know how it all turned out, but we certainly got a little entertainment while we waited!

- Does anyone else feel like this had already been a full night?! Me too. The fact that we weren’t even at our park of choice yet is pretty funny. Yes, there’s still lots more to come! –

We all made our way to the MK, first via monorail, then via ferryboat. I don’t remember just who made the call for taking the ferry, but it was a good one! What a gorgeous evening…

4786686239_516daf2bb9_b.jpg

Thanks to many texts back and forth, we knew that Kate and Tracy were already there, so we quickly-ish entered and started up Main St…. but somehow got waylaid in front of the Confectionary. Did you know there’s a booth right there in the window in which someone makes cotton candy? It was pretty neat! We stood there, watching for a few seconds before the wonderful lady in there beckoned first Michael and then Leo to come inside. When they did, she handed each of them a little blob of sweet, blue fluff on a card. How Magical was that?!

4786686285_e093362e8d.jpg

A couple things to note here.

One, it was an Extra Magic Hour (EMH) night. I frankly thought it an insane decision to be there, but it wasn’t bad at all! Yes, a little crowded at times, but totally manageable, MUCH cooler than daylight hours, and quite fun.

Two, when we arrived, T, Kate and their families were ready to go into Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor. Both Leo and Michael balked at that idea, so I offered to take them on the Peoplemover instead.

That was fun! The boys and I had a good time zooming around Tomorrowland. And then I bought them popcorn. I’m a pushover when I’m tired and happy and the sun is down.

4789431249_8ba6fa99f1.jpg

Really, we had a good time just hanging out, waiting for everyone else to finish up. It reminded me a lot of the old days, when I’d arrive at WDW long past rope drop, minus a plan and without a dinner reservation. Yes, this was done regularly. And it was FUN, people! Some days, we never made it on a single ride. It didn’t matter. Disney World was our place to kick back and relax; it wasn’t a race to see just how many rides we could experience.

Sitting there with Leo and Michael, I vowed to do a little less planning and a little more flying by the seats of our pants in the future.

But first, we needed to shoot aliens with Buzz. Heh heh.

4789431251_48613f29dd.jpg

Bite 1 and Leo partnered up for this one. Apparently Bite 1 shared some tips with Leo, too. Wasn’t that nice? I rode with Kate. I didn’t share any tips with her; I beat her silly. BWAHAHAHA!!!

Oops, sorry about that. LY Kate! I just might get a teensy-weensy competitive on Buzz.

Ahem.

We all then loaded into the Peoplemover for another trip, mostly because it was right there and we were running out of time. Poor T and Andy tried to get their own car, but I missed that cue and jumped in with them. But, hey – without me, how would they have gotten this uber-romantic picture of themselves?!

4789431255_709b4f1117.jpg

Per T’s wise suggestion, we had skipped the early Main St. Electrical Parade in favor of the later one, so it was then time for fireworks.

Confession: I’m a fireworks junkie. Watching sparkly things go BOOM! is among my very favorite things to do. But I’ve been spoiled rotten living where I do. Thanks to the proximity of Disney’s tops-in-the-world pyrotechnics, even local productions are pretty impressive here out of sheer competition. I’d heard some pretty impressive reviews for the Summer Nightastic fireworks, but was afraid to get my hopes up…

DUDES!!!

Summer Nightastic rocked my world. It was like the phenomenal Princess & Pirate Party fireworks of years past… only BETTER! Even my non-fireworks-loving Leo was pretty impressed.

Poor Michael, though, had had it. He was tired, hot and just plain over it all. And his amazing Momma had hit her own personal wall. I hated to see them go, but totally understood the need to get out of the crowds, into some AC and catch some Z’s. LL, hun, we’ve aaallll been there!

The SharkB8’s, too, had had enough and decided to go back to their hotel.

T and I? For some reason we and our offspring were on FIYAH that night! We were so ready to get some more rides on and hit up the night parade. I think Andy may not have been so into it, but he was hugely outvoted, so, um, sorry ‘bout that!

I have no idea what else we rode, because pictures don’t exist. I know we rode Aladdin’s Rugs, though, lol! See?

And we definitely ended the night with the Main St. Electrical Parade!

4789475475_960efd894d.jpg

Errmmm…. About that…

We, Leo and I, weren’t all that impressed. I believe Leo may have called it “lame.” We’d like our Spectromagic back, please.

Okay, okay, it was fun from a nostalgic point of view. I remembered the music from childhood trips, and that was cool. But it otherwise fell rather flat for us.

Plus, we were pretty tired. So tired, I feared that Leo might fall asleep on the bus ride back to the Yacht Club. And if he did, I feared that I wouldn’t be able to wake him enough to walk. And I for sure couldn’t carry him, big as he is now.

But T and Andy had us covered. They had their car at the Contemporary and offered to drive us home. Wasn’t that sweet?! We thought so too. We also thought we were pretty clever, for some reason.

Until Maddie schooled us.

When she asked on our walk to the car, “How are we gonna fit six people in a five seat car?”

Oh! Crap.

By that point, we were more than halfway there. I looked at T. She looked at me. And I believe we made a silent pledge of “I won’t tell if you don’t!” And yes, we crammed three kids and one V into the backseat of a Hyundai Elantra. Two kids in a single seatbelt, no less.

I know – we’re all fired.

Actually, it was pretty freaking funny. At some point, someone (I swear it wasn’t me!) complained of feeling “squished.” Which, of course, could only be handled one way…

“When WE were kids, we’d fit 10 kids in a backseat – 5 on the seat and 5 on the floor!”

“And remember – we’d stuff 20 of us in the back of a station wagon!”

“Yes, and that one time, when so-and-so rode in the trunk?!”

Oh, how we laughed and laughed. The kids? They looked at us like we were all insane. And I wonder how their tale of “overloading” the back seat of the rental at Disney will go over on their own kids someday. :rotfl:

T and Andy dropped us off at our front door and Leo and I stumbled into bed, looong past our bedtimes. The next day was going to be restful and low-key, though.

I’ll wrap this up by saying it was a super-duper fun day and night. We got to spend time with all of friends, experienced a lot, and laughed till it hurt. What more could we ask for in a vacation?!

Awesome update V!

That's the kind of day/night at WDW that is the reason you keep coming back again and again...wish I was there right now actually.

Oh and thank you for putting that song in my head...I've been singing it since I first read the title of your update. Please tell me you'll throw a "Money can't buy you claaaa-hassss" in there at some point?

But Plans are made to be broken. ;)

Would you believe I've NEVER had a Cannoli? Italian bakeries are just not to be found in this neck of the woods. BBQ shacks? Plenty. Korean food? In abundance. German bakers? We got two. Italian bakeries, nada.

I can't remember a lot from MSE as it's been like....two decades since I saw it. Sorry to hear it was let down. I do however remember riding in the back of my parents' station wagon. That was like my own little rolling clubhouse. Good times.

Dude! You should spend a day in a call center. We have stories...

Yep, I've ridden in a trunk. Voluntarily, I should add.
Somehow I don't doubt this at all.

I've heard that sometimes the techs will say, "it sounds like a D.A.U. issue" to the caller. Not explaining that DAU stands for Dumb A** User.

:rotfl2: Like you haven't.
Well...we do have a few acronyms we use with one another but never with a customer on the phone.

There is the ID-Ten-T (ID10T), PICNIC, (Problem in Chair, Not in computer), RTFM - (Read the freaking manual), and the ever popular Flash 12 or just F12 for short. (This is a user who is SO clueless, you know that every clock in their house is flashing 12:00.) When network admin's call in they are often labeled as a BETI (Pronounced Betty...Big Ego, Tiny Intellect). There are others...but they don't quite meet the forum guidelines for posting. As to trunking, I don’t know anything about that…

This makes me think of M.I.B. for some reason. Apparently the Suits forgot to "flash" you. Beware of any Tommy Lee Jones look alikes.

Ok. Want to know how incredible this shot is? BF, Mr. Disney-Shmizney himself, just leaned over and said, "Oh wow where was THAT taken from?"

I’m a pushover when I’m tired and happy and the sun is down.

You should start working on that now. Leo will be asking to borrow the car one day.

Confession: I’m a fireworks junkie. Watching sparkly things go BOOM!

I'm the same way. You'd have LOVED the 3rd of July fireworks display that BF's family put on when we visited them in TN! Granted, it's no Disney but it was $1,500+ of professional fireworks set off by amateurs. :thumbsup2 It was better than the display put on by our local cities/towns!

And we definitely ended the night with the Main St. Electrical Parade!

I did ask if he’d learned anything form the experience… to which he answered, “Yes. I don’t want to carry a phone any more. It’s too much resfonsifility.” LOL! Fair enough. I tucked it away in my bag and it stayed tucked away the rest of our trip. Maybe next time.

 Poor Leo.

Lovely:sad2:

We stood there, watching for a few seconds before the wonderful lady in there beckoned first Michael and then Leo to come inside. When they did, she handed each of them a little blob of sweet, blue fluff on a card. How Magical was that?!

Cool

Sitting there with Leo and Michael, I vowed to do a little less planning and a little more flying by the seats of our pants in the future.

That's how all our previous trips used to be too V> Some days we wouldn't go to a park until after dinner.

And we definitely ended the night with the Main St. Electrical Parade!

:woohoo:

Errmmm…. About that…

We, Leo and I, weren’t all that impressed. I believe Leo may have called it “lame.” We’d like our Spectromagic back, please.

NO:eek:

Okay, okay, it was fun from a nostalgic point of view. I remembered the music from childhood trips, and that was cool. But it otherwise fell rather flat for us.

I like it more than Spectro

Until Maddie schooled us.

Good girl:goodvibes

“When WE were kids, we’d fit 10 kids in a backseat – 5 on the seat and 5 on the floor!”

“And remember – we’d stuff 20 of us in the back of a station wagon!”

“Yes, and that one time, when so-and-so rode in the trunk?!”

Did you walk to school up hill both ways in the snow? :rotfl2:

The next day was going to be restful and low-key, though.

Is this moving day?

Oh and thank you for putting that song in my head...I've been singing it since I first read the title of your update. Please tell me you'll throw a "Money can't buy you claaaa-hassss" in there at some point?
You're welcome! ;) And I already did! Part One, I think - "Money Can't Buy You Class, But Can it Buy You an Extra Hour of Magic?" :thumbsup2

Dining with V… Cannol V… Got Skillz… Bedazed V… Mommie V… Court T-V… Photogra V… Magic Loving V… Expanding Horizons V… Laid Back V… Buzz Lovin V… Pyro V
:lmao: Love it!
I SO have to try this place out.
You really do! ::yes::
Would you believe I've NEVER had a Cannoli? Italian bakeries are just not to be found in this neck of the woods. BBQ shacks? Plenty. Korean food? In abundance. German bakers? We got two. Italian bakeries, nada.
Korean food is big in TX?! We have none here that I know of! That's it GB; I won't rest until you've gotten to Tutto and had a cannoli. :thumbsup2
As to the "incident" in guest relations.....Wow. My dog peed itself because I was was angry? Really? Seriously? You just said that as a means of supporting your arugment? Exepcting that it made your case stronger? Just.......wow.
Yeah, that was pretty much my reaction, too. Honestly, I was having a very hard time trying not to giggle out loud. Because I was afraid of what they'd do to ME!
I do so VERY love me some evening EMH.
I was surprised at how much we enjoyed it!

How could you handle all of that cute-ness?!
Oh, it wears off fast. :rotfl:
Nice picture of you two! I like Leo's shirt -- the epic battle of giant squid vs. whale.
Thanks! And :rotfl2: Yeah, the boy loves him some circle of life themes.
I might have a "lost item" story later on in my TR. :rolleyes1
Ruh-roh! popcorn::
I could never work in Guest Relations.
Me neither. I did my time in retail and bank management... it was hell dealing with irate customers. :sad2:
This picture is incredible! It looks like a painting.
Thank you! Point-n-shoot; it was all the camera. Plus some careful cropping by me. ;)
Yep, I've ridden in a trunk. Voluntarily, I should add.
I believe this.

Somehow I don't doubt this at all.
See? :rotfl:

I've heard that sometimes the techs will say, "it sounds like a D.A.U. issue" to the caller. Not explaining that DAU stands for Dumb A** User.
Well...we do have a few acronyms we use with one another but never with a customer on the phone.
FYI, I've notated all of these right here by my desk. I am so not a tech-y person, but guess who's in charge of our website and helping users of our website? 99.9% of the time any one of those acronyms apply.

Ok. Want to know how incredible this shot is? BF, Mr. Disney-Shmizney himself, just leaned over and said, "Oh wow where was THAT taken from?"
Wow, thank you! I'm feeling guilty though - I really didn't do more than point, press and later, crop! It just happened to be a beautiful night.
You should start working on that now. Leo will be asking to borrow the car one day.
EEK! :scared1:
I'm the same way. You'd have LOVED the 3rd of July fireworks display that BF's family put on when we visited them in TN! Granted, it's no Disney but it was $1,500+ of professional fireworks set off by amateurs. It was better than the display put on by our local cities/towns!
Oh yes, I believe it! Home-grown fireworks are a big, big deal in the south!
Argh. This worries me. I love me some Spectro and was excited to share it with BF. Now I'm concerned I'm going to keep saying over and over, "This is great but Spectro is SO much better. Believe me. Next time. You'll see."
Well... everyone else seems to love it, so you've got that going for you! Otherwise, you can totally work it to your advantage for a return trip. Fuzzy Boyfriend Relations. :teacher: :rotfl:

Love the picture of you and Leo! I love the top you're wearing too! Is it new and where did you get it? It looks so light and breezy.
Thank you! It was super comfy - got it from Old Navy, on sale! :cool1:

Love thosegames, especially when I am "playing" with Jimmy and I have no lclue what he is talking about...I always lose;)
Yep, me too!
Do you believe this tried and true Italian HATES cannolis. I have been asked to give back my membership card
:sad2: Do we need to send you off with Jo to Fake Heritage Reform School? :rotfl:
That's how all our previous trips used to be too V> Some days we wouldn't go to a park until after dinner.
::yes:: It's HARD to get back to that for some reason!
Did you walk to school up hill both ways in the snow? :rotfl2:
Of COURSE!
Is this moving day?
Yep. Fraught with peril. ;)
