The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

Awwww, that is it. You are driving home. It is over? Well thank you for sharing your trip with us! A great TR! And the bright side is you already have another one booked! I really do find that helps, when you have another one in the works!

Can't wait to see the souvies!

And have a good day back at school! Sorry to hear you aren't getting all your kids back. That is a bummer. :(

Sad your trip (and report) are ending. I hate the leaving-Disney depression... I get it bad and it sticks to me for awhile sometiimes.

I am testing a theory that my post-Disney depression is in direct relation to my pre-Disney euphoria so I am trying to keep a level head before this trip to see if it makes a difference later - Probably won't matter - leaving always stinks!

Thanks for your wonderful report - love the picture of the kids sleeping. That would be perfect blackmail ammunition in my house ;)

Hey Jackie! I'm new to your report and just spent a good part of the past two days reading both your pre-trip and your trip report. I absolutely loved them both! I'm blown away by how creative you are with your planning binder. I made mine for our trip next summer recently and it's nowhere near as colorful or full as yours was  I actually used yours to give me some ideas of stuff I can include in mine so thanks for that!

I'm glad you guys had a good trip. I loved all the pictures and stories. I actually learned a lot from your report... I've been trying to decide on restaurants for our next trip and was thinking about both Tusker House and Restaurant Marrakesh. Tusker House for dinner is definitely on our list now and I think we'll skip Restaurant Marrakesh. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks again for sharing, I really loved reading along. Now on to the souvenirs!

I too cry every time I get there and every time we leave...it's inevitable!

Those are the best later in life blackmail pics of the kids! LOL.

I'm sad that it's almost over!

Awww...that picture of the kids is priceless! They do like each other, even if it is while they're alseep.:lmao:

I'm bummed, my friend.

I'm not fond of reading about your leaving day. As soon as you finish this trip report, I require a pre-trip report, savvy?;)

I'm so sad that your TR is ending!

I'm happy that you're going to do an installment of souvenirs. Stretch it out as long as possible!

ADORABLE pics of Connor and Chelsea. Love it!

NOOOOOOO!!! You can't be done!!! You're realy making me look bad!;)

love the kids sleeping picture! Yes they would die if they knew you included that picture! hehe....

so sad to leave, I know... but at least you know when you will be back and maybe even sooner ! :)
thanks for sharing it was great getting to know you and your family in a stalking kindof way... haha... maybe I'll see you around Target sometime!

All caught up and OMG the room being open must have been scary

Love the blue mouthed photo of Chelsea :rotfl:

Saturday morning Charles woke me up and asked me if I wanted to head to the Animal Kingdom for EMH. In my not-quite-awake state and after the ordeal of the open hotel room door, I told him that I thought we should just head home.

WHAT WAS I THINKING???

I wish now that we had gone to Animal Kingdom. June seems a long way away. Well, it is a long way away. It is exactly ten months away from our check-in day.

Yum! I wish I could have Mickey waffles every morning, but I guess they might lose their charm if they were a regular thing.

The drive home was not quite as pleasant as the drive down. We encountered storm after storm from right below the Georgia line to outside of Macon. Charles did most of the driving since I hate driving in blinding rain. We made it home in one piece, and I started plotting the next trip...

UP NEXT: Souvenir Hit Parade!

On the last day, you can be so tired and maybe so sore you can hardly move, so you think you don't want to go tackle a park. As soon as you're off Disney property and back in the cold, cruel world, you wish you had gotten that last few minutes of magic after all. Most of us have probably done the same thing at least once, so I totally understand your feelings.

I'd like to do some research on how long it would take me to get tired of eating Mickey waffles at Mickey's house. You think I could get a grant to fund such a thing?

We've driven through those torrential downpours, too. Most of the time we just find a place to stop for a break. It is so hard to drive, and it makes me very nervous to drive and try to decide if we should keep going at twenty mph or just pull over and wait it out. I especially hate to get in one on the way down to Florida, because it takes up precious moments of our vacation time!

As an avid shopper (browser, really), I am looking forward to seeing the souvenirs.

I feel your pain on the long wait. We're going at Thanksgiving, and then that's it all the way until the end of next July. I'm already suffering withdrawal just thinking about all those Disney-less months.

This can't be the end of your report. So sad, I need a Oct. pre-trip report. But I understand once school start, their are papers to grade, and lessons to plan. Have a great year and may Chelsea adjust wonderfully to middle school.

We are still hoping for an October pre-trip report -- if not, I will start the one for next summer soon. I won't be able to resist!

Chelsea had a wonderful first day of middle school -- more on that to come!

One that will last all of four days...

But one that was worth the wait!

That's what I wanna know!

No one should attempt to talk to me when I first come out of sleep -- just saying. :rolleyes1

Oh. Well I guess that makes some sense, but...

Oh, I know -- I am still kicking myself -- we never even rode Everest this trip. :sad1:

 :rotfl:

Those pictures are great! Add them to the photo-fodder for Connor's wedding. ;)

And they will appear...they will appear...;)

I can't believe your TR is almost done! :sad2: I hope you think that 10 months isn't too soon to start a PTR, because I am going to go through major Jackie withdrawals, complete with cold sweats and shaking.

 My ego and I thank you for the sentiment! I won't be able to hold off on starting a PTR for long -- I know myself well enough to know that will never happen.

The pics of Chelsea and Connor are precious!

I can't believe your tr is almost over. :sad1:

I hope you get to Disney with Charles in October.

I hope you, Chelsea, and Connor have a wonderful first day of school. May it be a fast, productive year. Fast so June can get here and you can be in Disney again :cloud9:

But I have passed the Disney Torch to you and I know you are having a fabulous time right now as you check into the Polynesian!

Fingers crossed for October -- I have been having bad, bad, bad Disney withdrawals all week.

I want June to come quickly, but I don't think I want to wish away the next year too fast!

awwwwwwww........this is so sweet!!!!! your kids are just too adorable.

reminds me of a picture of me and my little brother. although i'm 10 years older than him so it's not so much a matter of us constantly fighting, but of him wanting to do everything i did and me being annoyed by him! he gave me this picture in a card on the day i got married and i have it framed in my office. i'm guessing i was about 13 and he was about 3 here. we were both sound asleep when my dad took it. :goodvibes

File00042.jpg

so sad your TR is almost done. can't wait to see your souvenirs though!!! and i hope there's another trip to read about in your near future. ;)

Thank you! That picture of you and your brother is precious -- my brother and I are almost 12 years apart so I know what you mean about not fighting too much -- but there was some arguing between us when we were younger -- I think it is the nature of being siblings.

I hope there is another trip soon, too, but if not, I have lots of TRs (yours included) to look forward to reading -- that will help to stave off the Disney Wanderlust a little bit!

Sorry that you missed AK on that last day. Next time you'll listen to Charles, huh? ;)

That's for sure!

I am sorry your TR is over, but soooo sooo happy that it coincided with my leaving for my trip!! I got to get my Disney itch scratched almost up to departure day.

And now you are at the Beach Club!!! Lucky dog!!!

I love the pics of Chelsea and Connor. So adorable.

Thank you!

sad that u r home now. it was fun. 10 months will go by faster than u know.

If it goes as fast as last week did, then it will fly by!

The pictures of the kids sleeping are cute.

Thank you!

I can't believe it's almost over! I guess I knew you had to finish and go back to school. You will be doing an extra long pretrip report for next year, right?

You better believe it! :thumbsup2

Gosh I hate the end! :sad1: And you are not the only one tearing up as they leave Disney property! :rolleyes1 The sleeping pictures are adorable!! Charles asking about EMH... he's really starting to embrace this Disney thing. DVC could be an "easy" sell... now all you have to do is gather a spare $15K or whatever it costs!

He is pretty much all for DVC -- I am trying to be the responsible one though. Wanna take bets on how long I will hold out??? I am thinking next year! :lmao:

10 months does seem like a long time but there are resorts to investigate (and switch to), ADR's, touring plans and other fun stuff to keep you busy. And, lest you forget, there is still (?) the possibility of an October trip?

There is lots of fun stuff -- I am also coming up with some fun activities here on the homefront that should help us bide our time (HSM 3 Premiere Party for a group of middle school girls, anyone?).

Hope you have a great first day at school. :) Sorry about the surprise you got regarding the returning students not all coming back to your class.

It was a great two days, but I think I was asleep before 10:00 both days -- it was exhausting!

First off, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?!?!!?!?! Second, I think Charles has the Disney Bug pretty badly. Yep, we are on to you Mister. :cool2:

He does -- I won't even tell you about the grief he gave me for letting Pop Century slip through our fingers for October. ;) Although, he wouldn't let me order the shirt from disneyshopping with Goofy on it for him. :headache:

The pictures of the kids are so adorable. :goodvibes

Thank you!

Glad to hear that an October trip is still a possibility! By any chance do you have a Disney Visa card? The rumors are quite rampant that they will be releasing discount codes to card holders in the morning for travel from end of Sept through just before Christmas!

FIRST SET OF COMMENTS ARE ON THE PREVIOUS PAGE!
Ohhhhh Jackie... passing up park time. I bet that is hard to believe now, but that last day I just wanted to get over... as did you it sounds like!

Looking forward to seeing your loot!

Knowing there was the long journey home really put a damper on it! Which is odd, when we are headed down it never seems like a long drive, but going home it always seems to last forever!

Oh Jackie--what a sad morning!!! You have to find a way to keep us entertained between now and next June---because we all aren't going anywhere. We are going to be like the houseguests that never leave---you can't just get rid of us, so you are going to have to find something to tell us about. At this point, even if it is the weekly visit to the grocery store---we will be there hanging by every last word of the trials and tribulations of grocery shopping!!! Happy First Day--by my clock you are 17 minutes into it---hope things are good for you today!!! Jen

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Trust me, Jen, I don't want to get rid of any of you, so please, stay as long as you like -- I can regale you with stories from now until June! Thanks for the First Day Wishes -- it went very smoothly although I was completely hoarse by the end of it and felt like I had walked all through Epcot by the end of it!

Such CUTE pictures of the kids! Sorry that the not so magical moment from the day before kept you from wanting to grab some last minute magic:sad2: Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful report with us:thumbsup2 Good Luck with the school year and your trip plans for next year!:thumbsup2

Thank you for reading along! It's been so much fun to relive our vacation with all of you!

oooooh your last day saddens me :sad1: But I shall use FDM to make it better....lets see.....the night you found your door open put a damper on that night (so that's 1) and then you were still feeling the open door blues the next morning and didn't go to AK (so that's 2). OK by my Fuzzy Disney Math you have 2 days that you can add on to any Disney vacation....free of money guilt. You can use it for October or to add to June 2009.

Good thinking about the two extra days!!! :thumbsup2 I will definitely use them towards October or June! ;) I'll just say, "Heidi told me I could."

That was a great idea! To use that picture in slideshow for Connors wedding! So funny!!!!!!!!!!

Aren't Mickey waffles so much better than all other waffles? Yum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to see the report end!

Yes, they are so much better than regular waffles! Everything always tastes better at Disney World!

Awe... I love the pictures like that! I've got one from when K and T were maybe 4 and 7... I should blow it up and hang it in the living room for the world to see that they haven't ALWAYS bickered and moaned about each other!

I can't wait for the souvenir hit parade!

:lmao: What a great idea to hang the photo where everyone can see it! Connor wouldn't even let me show our friends and family -- I had to sneak to do so! :rolleyes1

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: I fully endorse the logic! :thumbsup2

It's the best!

Awwww, that is it. You are driving home. It is over? Well thank you for sharing your trip with us! A great TR! And the bright side is you already have another one booked! I really do find that helps, when you have another one in the works!

It does inspire me with a strange sense of peace that I know I will be headed back within the year.

Can't wait to see the souvies!

I always have to bring back a little something from my happy place!

And have a good day back at school! Sorry to hear you aren't getting all your kids back. That is a bummer. :(

Thank you -- we did have a successful first day.

I am sad to see the TR ending :(

But I am sending you good first day of school vibes! :goodvibes:

Thank you!!! I am looking forward to your trip in October now! :goodvibes

Your theory makes a LOT of sense! I will be anxiously awaiting your final analysis on that one! I don't know if I will ever successfully combat the Disney Blues when leaving.

:welcome: I am so glad that you are joining in! I am so glad that you enjoyed reading and that I was able to give you some ideas for your binder, and help with your ADR decisions! Souvenirs are coming up soon!

I too cry every time I get there and every time we leave...it's inevitable!

Those are the best later in life blackmail pics of the kids! LOL.

I'm sad that it's almost over!

I am relieved to hear I am not the only one that cries!

Blackmail photos are always good to have on hand!

Yep. That was me! :rotfl:

Awww...that picture of the kids is priceless! They do like each other, even if it is while they're alseep.:lmao:

I'm bummed, my friend.

I'm not fond of reading about your leaving day. As soon as you finish this trip report, I require a pre-trip report, savvy?;)

I solemnly promise that a PTR will not be too far behind!

I'm so sad that your TR is ending!

I'm happy that you're going to do an installment of souvenirs. Stretch it out as long as possible!

ADORABLE pics of Connor and Chelsea. Love it!

You have figured out my secret plan -- I am trying to stretch it out as long as I can!

Thank you!

NOOOOOOO!!! You can't be done!!! You're realy making me look bad!;)

Trust me -- next time I am following your lead -- I am almost as sad about finishing my PTR as I am about the end of my vacation! I am going to make the next TR last until the next trip!

love the kids sleeping picture!

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Yes, we should plan an Atlanta DIS meet sometime -- we are too close not to do so!

Did your kids start school last week?

Hope you had a great first week of school!

As I said in the copy room on Friday -- two down, 178 more days to go. It was lovely -- not as lovely as enjoying a LapuLapu at the Poly, but school lovely. ;)

All caught up and OMG the room being open must have been scary

Love the blue mouthed photo of Chelsea :rotfl:

It was heart-stopping!

Thanks!

When do you leave for your trip?

On the last day, you can be so tired and maybe so sore you can hardly move, so you think you don't want to go tackle a park. As soon as you're off Disney property and back in the cold, cruel world, you wish you had gotten that last few minutes of magic after all. Most of us have probably done the same thing at least once, so I totally understand your feelings.

I am glad to know I am not the only one that has made that mistake -- I felt like such a bad DISer when I realized that I had given up park time -- and that realization was about the time that we passed under the sign that said, "See You Real Soon!"

I'd like to do some research on how long it would take me to get tired of eating Mickey waffles at Mickey's house. You think I could get a grant to fund such a thing?

If you find one, let me know -- I will totally volunteer to be your research partner -- I'll keep the lab notebook and everything! Think we could use it as a thesis for a doctorate???

We've driven through those torrential downpours, too. Most of the time we just find a place to stop for a break. It is so hard to drive, and it makes me very nervous to drive and try to decide if we should keep going at twenty mph or just pull over and wait it out. I especially hate to get in one on the way down to Florida, because it takes up precious moments of our vacation time!

Charles is never bothered by rain, but I was glad that it decided to do it on the way home and not the way down. I would have been so angry!

As an avid shopper (browser, really), I am looking forward to seeing the souvenirs.

I am an avid browser, too!!! :rotfl:

I feel your pain on the long wait. We're going at Thanksgiving, and then that's it all the way until the end of next July. I'm already suffering withdrawal just thinking about all those Disney-less months.

We need a support group or something -- oh, that's the DIS, isn't it? ;)

I am trying to think of things to do that will help each month go by -- themed parties, movie nights, day trips! I haven't got very far, because everytime I start daydreaming about WDW. I am incurable!

Glad to hear that an October trip is still a possibility! By any chance do you have a Disney Visa card? The rumors are quite rampant that they will be releasing discount codes to card holders in the morning for travel from end of Sept through just before Christmas!

Unfortunately, I do not have a Disney Visa! I wonder if I should go ahead and book something today, so all the rooms aren't gone. Agghhh, the stress!!! :scared:

I am trying to think of things to do that will help each month go by -- themed parties, movie nights, day trips!

I need to do that. I did it before our last Disneyland trip. I just need to get myself together and start planning something other than another Disney World trip. While I do love Disneyland, it is not nearly as much fun to plan a trip for as Disney World is!

Oh dear! I didn't mean to cause stress! According to the rumor the rates get released to Visa holders tomorrow and the general public a few days later. The entire resort will not sell out for October so we still have hope! Did you look into AAA rates? No pressure... not trying to be annoying... really! :flower3:

It's hard to escape the WDW planning, but I am going to try and be a little different this year -- I don't want the kids to say later in life, "All we ever did was go to WDW!" :rotfl:

Oh, you didn't really stress me out -- it will actually make me watch closely as room discounts are released this week. Maybe I can get a bargain on Saratoga Springs or Old Key West! :rolleyes1
