The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

What great stuff. Those PJs are too cute... and that soap would be awfully hard for me to use too! Hope this week is going well at school!

I love this! :thumbsup2

My grandmother has a silhouette's of my mom and aunt when they were little, 60 years ago! :goodvibes

Mickey Mouse Soap from Basin. I still can't bring myself to use it.
MickeySoap.jpg

The soap smells really nice when it's unwrapped so maybe you could just set it out. But if you do decide to use it, if it's unwrapped for about a week before using it, it's supposed to last longer. I think Basin has mail order too! ;)

I love Chelsea's caricature!!!!!!!

I am going to have to buy me some of that soap!!!

I think I may need to add a few things to my souvenir list. ;)

You guys got some great stuff. :thumbsup2

So will the PTR be for June or October?? :rolleyes1

Oh wow, that silhouette's gorgeous! I've never seen the finished silhouettes before but it's such a great souvenir... I love the shadow of Connor's glasses. I love it! The caricature came out great too! Thanks for sharing the pictures :thumbsup2

I love all of your souveniers (how do you spell that word???)! I didn't get an ornament last year, and I won't make that same mistake twice! The silhouette is amazing! I may have to get one of my kids now! That caricature is awesome!

Love your pins! We really didn't find any good ones, and completely missed out on the dated ones.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful report with us!:thumbsup2 I LOVE that silouhette:goodvibes I hope you get to go to the AKL, keep us posted!:thumbsup2

Diane

This evening I read your entire PTR and TR and loved every update! :goodvibes I look forward to your next PTRs and TRs as well-you are a gifted writer and photographer.

I love the sillouette-what a great idea! I wonder if our 1 year old would still still long enough for one of those in November, I know both Grandmas would love them.

Hope you had a great first week back with the students, and everything has settled down.

I enjoyed looking at all of your souvenirs. A magnet is one souvenir that I always buy. The only problem is now I need a bigger refrigerator just for my magnets.

Conner did a great job on Winnie the Pooh.

You just SOOOOO made up my mind to DEFINITELY get silhouettes done of the kids at DL! It is so precious. Did you have it framed there or did you bring it home? If you brought it home, how did you keep it flat? And the caricature is so perfectly Chelsea!

Thanks for sharing, CP!

We brought them home (you get three of them) and bought frames at Walmart. They put them in a sort of cardboard folder to keep them from bending. The caricature definitely captures Chelsea!

Great souvenir pics!

You got some wonderful things on this trip. The silhouette is such a wonderful idea!

I don't want your TR to end!

Thanks! I don't want it to end either! That's why I keep stretching it out!

you got some great souvis... can't wait for your final thoughts too, working on mine as well.

You beat me on the final thoughts! I just don't want to wrap it all up yet!

Love the pics of the souvies---the ornament you got we got back in 2006 and it looks so AWESOME on the tree!!! Reflects back all that light and makes it so beautiful!! You will LOVE it! Don't have much to say, but just wanted to say "hey!" Hope school is still going well for you!!! Hope to hear from you soon! Jen

Oh, now you have me so excited to see our ornament on the tree, Jen! School is going well -- the novelty hasn't quite worn off yet.

They give grants for a lot of weird things. We could sure try!

The Dis is a good place to hang around. There are good people here!

That's for sure -- on both counts!

That's what we do. Whenever we all get together, we have some kind of Disney theme going. Brooklynn's Monsters, Inc. birthday party will be this weekend, and we're going to Disney on Ice in September, so that'll help the wait until November.
From November to July - that's another story.
And not a good one.
We're planning to do Playhouse Disney live in March, but other than that, it's just a long, long wait.

Can't wait to see the pictures from Brooklyn's Monsters party!!!

Oh, yeah, we are having a new baby Diser coming in April. I guess that could help the wait! :)

Definitely! Not to mention that new baby smell to enjoy!!!

Connor did a great job on Pooh!

You'll have to get two soaps next time - one for display and one to use.

I love the pajamas!

Thanks! I definitely need to buy more the next time! I wish those pajamas had come in my size!

LOVE these! Where do you have the silhouette's done? And how patient is the artist? :rotfl:

We had them done at Downtown Disney, but we also saw the artists in front of France in World Showcase and maybe Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom. The artist doesn't even need to be patient because they are super fast -- I don't think that either of mine sat in the chair longer than a minute. It was amazing how fast those scissors flew!

Okay, now I want to start a magnet collection! And is that a coloring calendar I see underneath?!

We always buy magnets from places that we visit.

Why, yes, that is a coloring calendar underneath! ;)

I cannot WAIT to walk into Basin the first time...

It's a fun store!

This is what Kyle's anxious for!

One of these days I will get up the nerve to ride it again!

I so need to buy that soap!!!!! My bathroom is mickey and it would match perfectly!

It would be perfect. I found the soaps near the registers!

that is some good stuff you got there.

i like the soap and key chain especially.

Thank you!!!

i saw a t-shirt like this that i want to get for ray when we're there in september!

Chelsea wanted the t-shirt, but they didn't come in child sizes :(.

i need this!

Definitely!

funny how your pooh's were a profile view and ours were straight on! you guys did a great job.....and i see future abstract artist potential with connor's!

I guess the artists like to change things around -- it also makes me want to go back since they do different ones. Connor loves to draw and definitely has his own style! ;)

That caricature of Chelsea is wonderful!

Thank you!

You're giving me ideas for in two weeks! And I was not going to buy much.... THANKS! ;)

:lmao: That's easier said than done at Disney! :thumbsup2

Chelsie's characature is great! I think it's the best I've ever seen!

Thank you! She was so thrilled with it -- it made my night to share her excitement!

I love every single item!! The caricature, silhouettes, soap, pjs, pottery (now I really need to shop in AK!), magnet, ornaments, star wars pins... everything!!! Every item is a perfect reminder of your magical trip. :goodvibes

Thank you! I can't wait to see what you bring back!

Love, love, love the souvies!

Chelsea's pjs are soooo cute. Do they come in adult sizes?;)

I love the Mickey soap from Basin, and am totally intrigued by the little animals from Mexcio. I would LOVE a splash of color like that sitting on my kitchen counter!:goodvibes

Thank you! I wish the pjs came in adult sizes -- I would have bought a pair for myself. The animals are one of my favorites -- they normally reside in a glass-fronted bookcase in the family room, but I needed more light to photograph them.

The caricature is SO cute! I wish we had done that on our last trip. We thought about it once in the lobby of POFQ but there was quite a wait. It is adorable!

And the soap, love it! That just might make me try and fit DTD in somewhere this trip! Way to go, messing with my itinerary a week out! LOL!

Allyson

Thank you! The artist at POFQ was amazing.

You should have scheduled DtD to begin with! ;)

I can't believe how close you are!!!

I so need to save more money for Disney shopping! I just want to go now!!!!!! Online shopping just doesn't cut it :sad1:

It sure doesn't -- I need another trip to WDW just to get a shopping fix -- I don't like shopping anywhere else.

What great stuff. Those PJs are too cute... and that soap would be awfully hard for me to use too! Hope this week is going well at school!

Thanks! School is going well -- are you enjoying your last few days before Luke arrives?

I love this! :thumbsup2

My mother always had silhouettes done of my brother and me when we went to Disney, so I figured I should continue that tradition. So glad that I did!

Thanks for all the information about the soaps! Basin does have mail order -- I just ordered four different soaps and a soap dish yesterday. I am so excited! :yay:

I love Chelsea's caricature!!!!!!!

I am going to have to buy me some of that soap!!!

Thank you! They have all different scents!

I think I may need to add a few things to my souvenir list. ;)

Thanks!!!

Just June so far...

Great photos! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you!

We were just so pleased with both the silhouettes and the caricature -- definitely worth the money!

Excellent loot!! Love the PJs!!!

Thank you!!! I am ready to go get more loot!

Love your pins! We really didn't find any good ones, and completely missed out on the dated ones.

We weren't able to get any of the dated SWW pins, but we really liked the ones we did get.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful report with us!:thumbsup2 I LOVE that silouhette:goodvibes I hope you get to go to the AKL, keep us posted!:thumbsup2

Diane

Thank you for reading and sharing it with me! I hope we end up at AKL, but I might be just as happy at CBR -- I asked the kids the other night and they both said they wanted to stay at CBR.

This evening I read your entire PTR and TR and loved every update! :goodvibes I look forward to your next PTRs and TRs as well-you are a gifted writer and photographer.

Welcome!!! Wow! I can't believe you read all of it in one evening! I am so thrilled that you enjoyed it so much!!!

The silhouettes are done super fast, so I bet your son would sit still long enough!

So far so good at school, but you know we are still in the "honeymoon" phase still!

I buy lots of magnets, too, and am definitely beginning to run out of room.

Lately over on the food pictures thread, there have been a lot of pictures of those ice cream sandwiches that you can buy at the Main Street Bakery. I have been drooling over them all week.

So, today at the grocery store I bought all the makings for homemade chocolate chip cookies and a carton of vanilla ice cream. Tomorrow's project? Making our own Main Street Bakery Ice Cream Sandwiches.

I'll let you all know how it goes. :thumbsup2

How fun! I tired to make funnel cakes once....not so good. But Ice cream sandwiches....I could do that!

How fun! I tired to make funnel cakes once....not so good. But Ice cream sandwiches....I could do that!

I think I should be able to handle it -- one scoop of ice cream between two cookies, wrap them in plastic wrap, and then freeze them. If I can't then we can just have cookies and ice cream! :thumbsup2

A few summers ago, we had a detective themed day, and we made ice cream sandwich magnifying glasses by taking the chocolate chip cookies and ice cream sandwiches and adding licorice sticks as the handles...fun, and yummy!

I love those ice cream sandwiches. they were so good.
