The "protesters"

I am so sickend as to what went on in our neighboring town (actually Northampton is a city we are a town) last Friday.. Keep in mind that there is barnes airforce base and westover airreserve base not more than 20 miles from northampton. In walking vacinity to a elementery school (two actually if you consider a mile and a half walking vacinity) as well as several preschools. Some "Good Americans" felt the need to do a "die in" the covered themselves in fake blood.. lit smoke pots and lay in the streets disrupting trafic acting as if they had been bombed. I find this SO disgracefull and disrespectfull on so many levels it makes me want to scream. The children that were exposed to this had no option if they wanted to see it.. many of them had parents who have been deployed.. There is NO point in a protest at this stage of the game.. the troups are GONE the war is ON and you should support the people that make it possible for you to do such in my opinion nasty things.!! i moved this from the cruise board as it really did not belong there.

These people sound like the same folks in high school that didn't get a part in the High School play and had nothing better to do! Some people have too much time on their hands and do not use it usefully.....

Ann N Hampton is a progressive liberal town. College town at that. I am sorry that the children of N Hampton were exposed to the living dead.
But, what you are saying is that protesters should stop protesting because the war is over? Resign to it? I do not see that happening.

You know, there's a good chance that if these protestors continue to lay in the road pretending to be "dead", they may very well END UP dead.. Sooner or later someone is going to accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake and the results will be a needless tragedy.. They obviously feel quite strongly about their cause, but they certainly don't appear to have a whole lot of common sense..

I can still hear my dad's words ringing in my ears - "If you don't want to get run over by a car, don't play in the street!!"

What a wonderful "example" they must have set for the children in your area..

Good gosh! These questions have already been addressed about a zillion times on the debate board..

No one is saying they "can't" protest.. No one is saying they must "stop" protesting.. All anyone is saying is that they should do it in a lawful manner that does not obstruct the free flow of traffic and/or endanger the lives of people who have absolutely nothing do to with these protests..

Having FACTS to back up your argument with would have saved you the trouble of having to suddenly "disappear" from that thread - but - I guess you must have been pretty embarrassed and therefore just decided to slink off to another thread instead..

Hopefully this war will be over as quickly as possible and then we won't have to deal with these idiots laying in the street anymore.. Or with protestors vandalizing private property.. Or with protestors defacating and forcing themselves to vomit out in public.. Or with protestors chaining themselves to fences.. Or with protestors sticking their arms in pipes and then not being able to get them back out again..

Come to think of it, are all these protestors out on day passes from the local psychiatric hospital or what??? Sure doesn't sound like "normal" behavior to me..

I can't speak "for" her, but from the tone of her post it appeared that she was more upset about the "type" of protest - rather than "protesting" in general..

Hope you didn't feel as though I was "taking a shot" at you.. I'm just totally frustrated with all of these "protest" threads because the peaceful, law-abiding protestors and the "we-don't-have-anything-better-to-do-than-break-the-law" protestors keep getting mixed together..

Sorry if it appeared that I was "snapping" at you.. That really wasn't my intent..

Don't be silly. It was just starting to remind me of a sign I saw once "Don't try to teach a pig to sing. It's not going to work and it annoys the pig."



But why are you bringing up running over people again?

Ummmm...because when people lay down in the middle of the road there's a very REAL possibility they could be run over???? You didn't really need me to explain that to you - did you???? If you saw someone lying in the middle of the road, wouldn't you think, "Oh my! That person could get run over!!"??

Where's the big PVTA busses when you need them? They could have taken care of that whole scene in about 2 minutes.

It's a real shame that the children of Northampton have to see these fake deaths. The children of Baghdad are seeing the real thing, on a daily basis.

I was not complaining about protests in general... they happen on a weekly basis in Nhampton. I was complaining about people pretending they are dead infront of children. As for the children of bagdad I think it is horrible they have to see people dying but they have their leader to thank for that. I do not think it is right to emotionally injure our children because others are being injured. There are starving children in the world. I do not withhold food from my son to teach him empathy for them. I send money to charities and explain to him why but I don't make him suffer because others are.
