the pre trip from H**

I knew you folks here would understand my vent so here goes. We have been planning our trip since last October. We are to leave late today. I think someone is working against us. Last week DH was hospitalized with pneumonia(came out of nowhere), has recovered and Dr approved the trip. DS and family are to meet us there for the weekend for the grandkids first trip. He was going to "Flex"(work day shift instead of night) Friday and come (they live in Jupiter) over for Saturday and Sunday. Now his job has required 10 hr days this week and a possible manditory Saturday work day. He says if he doesn't work Saturday they could fire him. How do you explain to a 2 & 3 yr old at the LAST minute that they can't go!!! Not to mention the disappointment of a grandmother that lives 1000 miles away and only gets to see them a couple times a year!
Sorry for the vent. But I feel a little better.

I did think of that but their parents want to be there with them for their first trip. Which I sure understand.

Can the mom bring the kids over for a hotel visit and not do the parks so that you can see the munchkins?? I hope it all works out for you.

I had to reply to your post because I understand your disapointment. We'll be heading to WDW in May where my DD (3 1/2) will get to visit with her beloved "Gommie" who lives outside of Orlando. I don't know which of them is more excited. I also had a few ideas.

1) Maybe you could make a late PS for a character breakfast at one of the resorts. Your DIL could bring the kids. They wouldn't be disapointed with not going and you wouldn't be disapointed with not seeing them.

2) The other idea is to have your DIL bring the kids to DTD. There's lots of Disney stuff there and a few rides. I don't know how much your grandkids understand about what Disney is but this might be enough to satisfy them.

I hope you're able to work something out because I know how hard it is to be so far from family.
