The "Pop In"

Does it bother you when people stop by or pop in when you are not expecting them? My family does it all the time and it drives me crazy, especially when I'm trying to get things done around the house or trying to get my daughter to calm down or take a nap. Often times, if they call and we don't answer the phone, they still show up within ten minutes!!!!!!!!! We have several family members that live close by. Guess I have to move.

That would bug me. I would not consider doing that to someone else, so I expect others to be considerate of me.

I hate it. Period. Don't come to my house without a courtesy call. I never do that to people - even if they say it's okay. It's a personal "do unto others" thing, I guess.

Yep, my MIL does this on almost a daily basis. Usually, the "courtesy call" comes as she's pulling in the driveway.

We don't have anyone that does this but we don't have a lot of familly in the area. I always call, even my parents before I come over. However I wouldn't mind if they just stopped by and vice versa. The do call first though.
If may aunt or grandma lived in the area though...... that's a different story!!!!

It depends on who it is, my aunt, uncle and cousins live right next door to my Dad's and we always go over without calling and they always come over without calling, but they are more like immediate family and neither of us mind if the others just stop by, most of the time we know when it wouldn't be appropriate. Other than that if it would depend on what was going on and who it was.

keep cleaning supplies handy if you see some one coming to you grap ou supplies to look like you were in the middle of cleaning so they wont stay long.

I guess I'm definetly in the minority here. I LONG for that to happen. As a kid we never grew up around family and as an adult we still don't live a round family. My husbands family has 12 kids- all but 3 of them live within 20 mins. of each other and their parents. The other 2 live within 4-6 hrs- and then there's us.... we live about 30 hours away. Believe me, even though you're not wild about it now, if you lived as far away as we do, you'd miss it a lot! I think you're lucky. ( BUt, I can imagine that if it happened on a daily baisis and you're trying to get somehting done, it might get a little bothersome!!! )

There are no pop ins here..except the Mary Poppins DVD
The only person who pops-in is DMIL and that's ok.

I don't like it. We are fortunate that we don't have alot of family close by. So no pop ins for us.
