The Official October 2013 Trip Planning Thread

I'd like to join the party...We're staying October 15-20th at BWV. We were fortunate enough to get a Grand Villa for my wife and daughters (4) first trip. Can't wait! Looking forward to more planning and information from all of you.

Congrats on the trip, just FYI, I love the LM AoA so don't get me wrong, I hope y'all have a lot of healthy people in your group haha cuz the walk from AoA to buses/lobby is a good little stroll esp if your carrying any kids

I am a waitress so used to walking and the rest of my family are all walkers too. Apart form my Mum and Nan (who will be 80) but then they have scooters booked......I love the little walk at the end of the day. I stayed at Music resort before and loved that walk. I assume it is about the same distance.

I'm pretty sure I'm in for Oct 2013!! We're looking at Sept 28- Oct 6 at POFQ, with the potential for it to be pushed back to accomodate the ToT 10 miler, but not likely (the entry fee is crazy high!) We haven't booked yet as DBF is pretty sure he's on board but we haven't made the official, final decision.

Additionally, when I went with my parents back in 2007 we made several wonderful friends through the DIS: a family from Scotland and a lovely lady in Pennsylvania - and all of their fall WDW travel dates will overlap with my trip as well, so it will be wonderful to see old friends!

It'll be my first time back in 4 years and DBFs first time back since he was in high school. And our first major vacation together :goodvibes

F&W and MNSSHP!!! Introducing DBF to how much fun WDW can be for grown-ups!!! I absolutely cannot wait.

On our last trip we stayed at POR in the Acadian mansion section and then one night at AoA in a LM room. We found the walk to the bus to be the same distance. The walk to the food court was longer at POR IMO.

OK, here goes....Our plans.

My Mum, Nan, Dad and his GF are all flying out to WDW on 24th Sept and are having a week with just the 4 of them. Then my sister and I are flying out on 1st October to join the family. We then are spending 1 week together before Mum, Nan, Dad and his GF fly home after their 2 weeks in glorious WDW.
My sister and I are then left to our own devices and to causes havoc for the remainder of our holiday. 2 more weeks of WDW to explore.

The last night before the family goes home we are hoping to go to BOG for a nice family meal. My Nan loves Beauty and the Beast so thought it might be a nice end to the holiday for her and the rest of the family.

During the time we are all together we plan to do all the Disney parks including the water parks, plus we are going to Harry Potter and Seaworld. As we won't have time to do all of it we will have to pick and choose what we do.
Once The rest of the family go home my sister and I will go nuts with doing whatever we want to do and making sure we do the things that are new since we last went all those years ago.

I seriously cannot get my head round the actual logistics of it all but I am sure we will get there.

This sounds seriously FANTASTIC!!!! You are going to have such an amazing vacation. Once you have more solid plays and ADR's. I really want to hear how you plan a whole 3 weeks.

I am going to start the planning very soon. I think a spreadheet may be my friend...LOL

We are thinking the week before Presidents Day Oct 6-12 (Sun-Sat) Any one know how those dates are crowd wise?(come on free dining!!) I guess we need to decide soon so that we can start planning our ADR when the window opens!! Looks like it will be the 4 of us and my parents. I will be 40 this spring and count this a late birthday present and then some!
I don't have the time i did last yr to call and look for deals so I may go through AAA w/ my dad. Any one done that and think it's a good idea so they can look for flights and book my ADRs and such.

:welcome:I have you added to the first page. Most of October isn't busy.

I highly recommend an actual Disney Travel Agent rather than AAA since they know a lot more about WDW. They can't help with flights, but they can make a vacation plan suited specifically for your family and can make all of your reservations.

Harper! I'm going to Disney in October too! lol I think this is the third trip where we are going to be there at the same time. We should really try and meet up! Haven't confirmed booking yet because we are looking into a DVC. Can't wait to start planning :)

Ha! That's too funny! Well, I haven't shared this news yet on this post.... but our plans have changed in a HUGE way! We've been working on moving to Florida for quite some time and now we're actually moving in June! I'm still going to keep this thread up because I'm sure I'll be at WDW at least a few days in October. I still can't wrap my head around it, but it's going to be so amazing. We haven't picked a location yet. DH and I don't have to worry about job commutes since we both work at home.

Just let me know when you have your dates confirmed and I'll get you added!

Thank you! It's absolutely insane! We still cannot believe it. We almost moved to Fargo, ND 2 months ago for a potential job for DH. Things fell through with that company. I am beyond thankful he didn't get that job! Ha! This is just beyond anything I could have ever hoped for!

We have realized many things in the past year. We've realized that money isn't everything and that it's more important for our family to be happy. DH was an electrical engineer for 10 years and hated every single second of it. He quit that job in November of 2011 to start his own business. It's been a very rough year, but we're pushing through to Florida since things are finally picking up. He's been such a happier person without being chained to a desk.
