The *OFFICIAL* HHN Review Thread

we were there oct 4 and 5 and the park seemed dead to me compared to last year -- unfortunately we did not make it to the AP party -- we arrive around 7:30 on satuday and had all the houses done by 12:00. my fav was dead exposure -- we went on that for a second time because my daughter met up with a friend and they spent the whole night arguing because the friend did not want to go into the houses - so the only reason we went back on sunday was to do the houses with her --- our bar bill was quite pricy and of course i had to get a blood bag

i am also guilty of smoking in line but this year i was asked by the man behind me in line for dead exposure to put it out and he was very polite about it and i did no problem.

as far as this year i was VERY disappointed --- it just didnt scare me -- the first time through dead exposure i was scared to death but nothing else phased me.

the longest wait time was on saturday for reflections of fear and that wait went from 75 minutes to 60 minutes later in the night.

creatures and intestellar only had 5 minute waits both nights and body collectors was only about 10

Hi. Ill be going to HHN on the 24th!!! I already purchased the EP does that mean I dont have to wait in any lines for the houses or are there still lines if you have EP? And if there are, are they typically long?

you will have to wait. the times though are considerably less than normal lines

Express shouldn't be more than 10-15 mins. and it's typically even shorter than that.

I failed miserably at HHN. I should change my name to AshamedScorpio.

Like I said, I'm not so keen on people jumping out at me...but I never imagined I would be such a big ***** about it.

I had to work up the nerve to enter and then hid out in a store so I could examine the map and figure out the best way to get to shows and rides without encountering too many scare zones. My boyfriend went ahead and did all the scare zones so he could report back to me and tell me which ones weren't so terrible. I honestly love looking at all the great make up and creativity behind teh scare zones, but the people getting in my face is what turns me off. I walked through Path of the Wicked and the Tinman went after me, but the Wicked Witch was pretty funny. I did MIB but the zombies near it were freaking me out. I walked through Schoolhouse which I found not scary at ALL. I dont really get why anyone would. I wanted to walk through Scary Tales after my boyfriend told me that Scary Bo Peep ordered him to pet her dead sheep, but I never did and I walked through Asylum in Wonderland but the Mad Hatter was INTENSE AND was freaking me out. I took a picture with Alice, who was awesome and very into her character.

I'm impressed with the level of creativity and the devotion a lot of the scareactors seemed to have to their roles. It seemed like there were A LOT of people there and most of hte waits I saw were 30 minuntes and up.

I wish some of the haunted houses and scarezones were more like the Schoolhouse where no one really jumped at you but it was still creepy. I love gore and weird things, but I guess this wasn't for me.

Sounds like you had a good time dispite your fears. HHN isn't for everyone but at least you tried...be proud of that! HHN is my favorite event and is one of the main reasons I live in Orlando...I get to go so often.

Maybe you'll give it a whirl again sometime in the future.

Having attended on multiple nights now, I want to give a huge shoutout to Ride and Show this year. In the past, the attendants inside the houses have developed a rather bad reputation for playing "traffic cop," herding guests through with flashlights. That easily ruined some of the best impacts, as well as taking guests out of the moment.

This year, it looks like scareactors are taking on the traffic cop role, pointing confused guests in the right direction. This is always done in character, sometimes by something as simple as blocking the alternate path.

Ride and show attendants seem to be playing more of an auxiliary security role this year, which works a lot better. They're there if you need them, and are a second set of eyes and ears for both actors and guests, but they're staying in the corners and being unobtrusive. Great job ride and show peeps!

I've also noticed that nobody's rushing guests through as much. The conga lines seem to naturally pulse themselves a bit. I was actually able to get several scares from behind last night, since I ended up being the last in my "group." I hope this continues as things get busier, because it really does result in a much better show.

Overall, I love this year's event, and think it's way stronger than last year.

Houses (favorite to least favorite):
1 - Interstellar Terror
2 - Body Collectors (big surprise, because I was not a fan of the original)
3 - Scary Tales
4 - Doomsday
5 - The Hallow
6 - Creatures
7 - Reflections of Fear
8 - Dead Exposure (just not feeling the love. Very repetitive house to me)

No real ranking on streets or shows. I love them all!

ha! least somebody's kid will be excited; i'll have my 15 yo DS (he who isn't fond of scary stuff switched @ birth perhaps? told him to slap a smile on & deal lol)

LOL. My daughter is also 15 and I took her last year. She started to cry before we stepped foot into a house. We did stay and scream and while we were waiting for them to open Nightmare on Elm Street, they released the chainsaw drill team, that did it for her. She ended up going back to the hotel with my mother.

Lots of DISers met up last night for S & S. In the group early on was:

Macraven
Purseval (plus wife and stepson)
Cdn Friends of Pooh (plus husband)
Laurabearz
Inkognito (plus husband)
Not My Fault! (plus husband)

We all met up in the holding area but got separated once the holding area was released. I didn't have an EP for last night and the rest of our group did. We did Creatures, Intersteller Terror, Body Collectors and Scary Tales. By 7:45pm or so the lines were getting very long and people were everywhere. Since the lines were so long, I decided to take off since I had to work today. I stopped by and chatted with Phamton for a few minutes and then called Dark Marauder so he could meet up with Mac and gang.

I'll be going again next Sunday for another meet.

I ended up getting to HHN late last night...trying to recover from the Food & Wine Festival earlier in the day.

It was so packed at HHN. 100 minutes for the Mary house and 45 minutes to an hour for all the other houses. I think I'll try to get their earlier next Sunday.

Are you planning on doing S & S next Sunday? If so...come by and say hi...there should be quite a few DISers there again this Sunday.

I want to do S & S next Sunday, but I'm not sure I'll be able to make it out there by 5. I've looked at the thread with everyone's pictures so I'm hoping to spot people while walking around...haha...we'll see if that works.

I had some interesting HHN experiences the past few nights.

Sat I went with friends, and one of the scareactors in the house I normally work in called me by name, whilst staying in character and scaring the rest of my group.

Last night, thanks to an Assist from Metro, I did meet up with Macraven, Inkognito (plus husband), Laurabearz, and Cdn Friends of Pooh (plus husband). I also had the chance to go back through Doomsday. That house has IMPROVED greatly.

What a great meet! We had lots of fun hanging out with DISers till 10:30ish, then struck out on our own till midnight. We bought the single EPs, which I didn't even know existed (and which many of the people in guest services don't know exist either...I won't even go into that confusion). They were $5 each, and you can buy as many as you want and use 'em on any house. Better than EP where it's each house only once, so of course we focused on faves like Dead Exposure. I don't know how often they offer those EPs, but they were great. They also sold the after-10 EPs for 20, which made the EP lines really ridiculous at the end.

We did houses with the group till 10:30, which was lots of fun. We got quite a bit done early on, but the crowds were massive so we had to switch to using EPs. We didn't do any of the shows since DH and I wanted to concentrate on our favorite houses with the single EPs. The smoking in line was utterly ridiculous, and it burned me to watch Security people walk right by without saying anything. I wouldn't care except that I have respiratory problems (I'm horking up lovely snot balls as I type this as an after effect of last night). And when I asked people right next to us to stop just as they were about to light up, they stopped with a huge attitude and I had to listen to them discuss what a witch with a b I was for the next 20 minutes. NOT acceptable that I have to play cigarette cop and be put into an uncomfortable situation just to keep myself from getting sick.

Other than that, it was a primo night. We ran out of time at the very end and had one pair of passes let, so we gave them to another couple at Dead Exposure who were heading to the standby line. They had no idea what express was but were very grateful when they saw winding standby line as we all just made a straight beeline into the house.

Not much action in the scarezones (although to be fair, we didn't do many of them) but the zombies outside of Dead Exposure were great as always. That and the ones outside of Scary Tales and Body Collectors are my definite favorites.

We were on the run from arrival (waited in the Finnegans pen with the other DISers) to midnight, with only a brief stop for gelato. We got socked with rain right after we left the last house, but thankfully we had ponchos and we stopped in Nascar for a really, really late dinner to wait it out. By the time we were done eating, valet had cleared out so there wasn't much of a wait for our car.

We're heading over again on Thurs. It's gonna be hard waiting!

We went last weekend went to HHN on the 2nd ( thurs) It was our first time and to be honest with you all.... It was not scary!! My 12 year old and 14 year old were bored:confused: I think I got scared 2 times and that was only cause someone popped out at me. I must say tho the costumes were awsome!! If only for that reason to see the costumes, would I go again! I am a huge Halloween freak and a huge horror movie fan and this just did not do it for me, or my family. We did get all the houses done plus Bill and Teds plus went on rides. I think the longest wait we waited was 30 mins. The detail in the houses were also fantastic, but for scare factor, I give a 3 out of 10 waaah! Sorry please don't flame me for my opinion on it as it is only my opinion
