The *OFFICIAL* HHN Review Thread

Got to share this one from last night.

DW and me went to Doomsday and there was no line at all. There was one couple in front of us in line and they were about 10 yds in front of us. For those that have went in the house, as soon as the couple walked through the RIP threshold, the chainsaw dude scared the couple. DW saw this and relaxed cause he got them. As she walked past the chainsaw guy, I looked at him, stopped and waved him on. He nodded to me and because there was no one else in line, he started walking right behind here as I stood back to watch the fun.

He walked with her until right before the house entrance, then she started to look back at me and he pulled the cord. She freaked out and almost ended up on the car that is right there. I laughed my butt off and he had a great laugh out of that one too. We high fived as we passed and I told him thank you. One of the best scares of our history of HHN.:lmao:

The other couple chickened out after about two scares and let us go ahead. We had the house to ourselves for the rest of it and they butchered her bad.
Great timing on that one and fun was had by all!(well maybe not her)

We went last weekend went to HHN on the 2nd ( thurs) It was our first time and to be honest with you all.... It was not scary!! My 12 year old and 14 year old were bored:confused: I think I got scared 2 times and that was only cause someone popped out at me. I must say tho the costumes were awsome!! If only for that reason to see the costumes, would I go again! I am a huge Halloween freak and a huge horror movie fan and this just did not do it for me, or my family. We did get all the houses done plus Bill and Teds plus went on rides. I think the longest wait we waited was 30 mins. The detail in the houses were also fantastic, but for scare factor, I give a 3 out of 10 waaah! Sorry please don't flame me for my opinion on it as it is only my opinion
No flaming from me. Sorry your kids didn't enjoy themselves. I love HHN but I do think some of the scarezones aren't very scary either. All the houses were fun but here's the problem...I'm 6'2" and about 225 lbs. The scareactors don't usually come after big guys like myself so I have to entertain myself by laughing at others getting scared.

I have the same problem. I'm about 6' and 215ish and I go to HHN by myself. I'll see the scareactors look at me and then go the other way to scare a group...it is funny to watch though.

Try going through the zone outside Body Collectors while eating food. Twice I've done that and twice they have been all over me! DH says it's because when you're eating you're distracted and therefore easier to startle/surprise/scare.

Yeah...I usually go alone too but this year I'm making it a point to meet other DISers. You really should try to come over on Sunday.

Remember Laura last night and "drinking" that jello shot! :rotfl:

Just getting back into the swing of things from our Universal vacation and first ever HHN. First of all - I'm hooked on HHN! We are already talking about next year. We went Sunday night and had a great time; unfortunately I didn't plan as well as I should of. We did not buy EP's because of the additional money and thought we might be okay since it was a Sunday. WOW - that crowd was huge and apparently it was nothing compared to Saturday night. We did get to do three houses and two shows and all the scare zones many times. My kids loved Bill and Ted's and the scare zones the best. We did the Brian Brushwood magic show which we all thought was pretty boring. Our mistake was not doing more houses earlier and going to the shows instead. We all thought Body Collectors was the best house we did, followed by Creatures, and then Reflections of Fear. I think we were all expecting more out of Reflections. We left by 10:00pm with tired kids and sore feet - but it was a great night!

Ah...glad to hear another person is hooked on HHN. The first time is definately a learning experience and you have plenty of excellent help on this board. Next year, you should plan on buying EP's and doing S & S to help get a jump on the crowds.

Hey everyone! I have read the entire thread and have found it incredibly helpful. We are doing our first HHN this year, planning on going to a S&S area, but we don't have the EP. Going on the 23rd and hopefully will be OK without them! :) Thanks again everyone for all of your posts~!

The 23 is the ONLY PEAK Thursday! This is not without cause. The park is expected to be packed. I HIGHLY recommend the EP. With the S&S you will be able to do 2 houses before every1 else gets in but I would expect that you may miss a house or two. Especially if you plan on seeing the shows. Good luck to you and let us know how it turns out.

How much is it to valet the car and where is it?
I think Valet is $20 but don't quote me on that because we get it free due to having Premier passes. Instead of turning into the parking garage, you go left (I think...there are signs...I am always on autopilot!). When you go up the escalators from the valet area, you come out into Citywalk just before Bubba Gumps. A guard will check your bags at the top of the escalator. It's VERY convenient...I am spoiled rotten with it. Dunno what I'll do if they ever get rid of the Premiers.

I'm not completely convinced it will be AS busy as past Hell Weeks since Orange County schools are open Friday 10/24. If Seminole and Osceola schools are open as well, I can't imagine it will be as crowded as last year. Of course I could be wrong. :rolleyes1

I'll be there on the 24th because it's a teacher planning day in Miami and I can actually take the day off. Hopefully not too many people will have that idea.

I plan on going on the 23rd for my first HHN. It better not be packed :[
Ah, this is going to suck lol.
I found out this morning that Seminole & Orange County schools will be open on Friday 10/24 and I can't imagine HHN will be as busy as a "normal" Hell week since it's a school night.

Just got back from my first HHN, we went Sunday, and.. well it wasn't as good as I expected. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE U.S., and I am an ap holder, but I expected a bit more.

Let me tell you this, if I ever go to HHN again, I'm not going on Sunday. I think the problem was the next day was Columbus day, so everyone had the next day off.

We entered the park, I loved Path of the Wicked (and I thought the medal detctors was a good idea on U.S. part), the monkeys were amazing.

We got in line for Creatures, went through in about 20 minutes. I though it was a bit funny, and some nice scares. Then after we got off, we got in line for Extraterrestrial Terror, I thought it was a nicely built set, not that scary. The cast was really into it, and one guy who was on these elastic "wires", even said "I have to do this all night, again and again". :lmao:

Then we went through Streets of Blood, which I liked, then into line for Body Collectors, I thought that line would be the end of me! We were waiting in line for 1 1/2 hours, and the wait time said 30 minutes!

After this it was about 10:15, and we really wanted to go to simpsons, so we went over there, a OK wait time, but the intro and everything took so long. We got out at like 11:00, and we looked around. Scary tales had 75 minute wait! We started walking out, and everything started closing. By the time we got out it was around 11:15. After going to 3 houses and 1 ride. :sad2:

It's a very popular event and many nights can have quite a crowd. That's why the HHN vets always stress getting the express pass.

If you do choose to go to HHN again please snag an express pass. I guarantee it is worth it :thumbsup2

I will be sure too :thumbsup2

I wish they would have a system like Disney, with the fast passes (didn't they used too?), 70 dollars seems a bit pricey. But after going I don't think it's really a choice if you want to see it all.

Yes they did used to but they did away with it some time back. We always stay onsite and use the FOTL. Plus we really like the Universal resorts :thumbsup2

$70 is a bit high for the EP but I after some of the crowds I have seen it's must have for us. When we go and it's not that crowded we do the houses fist without the EP and later we go back through them with the EP. If nothing else it's a short walk to the house :teeth:

any one can buy the epp for the daytime.
if you plan it right, and start early, you can do all the highlights and more in the park during the day time. weekdays have less crowds in the park than the weekends during the daytime.

the FOTL is one reason families do decide to stay on site.
after you consider the cost of the hotel for the night compared to what it would cost for a family to buy the epp, you come out ahead money wise.
you stay one night on site and get 2 full days of unlimited fotl perks.
(the day you arrive and check in and the day you leave to check out)

yes, the express for HHN is up there in price, i agree with you on that.
once you have dropped a ton of money for the trip and event, might as well go for broke and get the express pass in order to see everything you want to.

stay and scream is to your advantage as a starting point.
you can knock off 3 houses easily with no wait and not using your ex pass.
then you can repeat those houses again when it gets dark.

this was my 8th year in a row for hhn.
i went in blindly the first year i did hhn.
after that, i figured out how to make the best of my time and use s & s and do houses and buy the ep's for the night.

each year the event grows in popularity and size.
in the first years i went, it was very possible to cover the entire event.
since 2004, i buy the ex pass for hhn when i buy the hard ticket and i go for 4 nights in a row.
