2 questions - can you eat at finnegans while waiting?

soooo

any recommendations as to the time we should mosey on over to Finnegans on 10/19 (Sunday) for dinner & to wait to be released to the ghouls:banana: ?

i called & was told that the last dining ressie for the day is 3:30 pm...lingering until green light is given (3 hours:confused3 ) would equal way too many pints for me if i want to actually see/remember the houses;)

wonder if they honor the flashing of the onsite room key for priority seating?popcorn::

Anytime between 4:30 and 5 should be fine. That's when we arrived the last two times last week. Both times they let us out early and we headed over to the soundstages where one or two houses should be open.

I learned something at Bloody Mary. If you go through in close proximity to someone in a wheelchair, they turn off the inflatable "claustrophbia walls." I understand why, but I wish we had been given the option of waiting because that is one of my favorite effects. I had popped my EP to go through when that happened (the wheelchair party was right behind us), so it's not like I was going to wait 60 mins. to go through again. I would gladly have waited a little longer to get the full effect.

Do you know if it was a manual wheelchair or electric. We are taking my 15 yo brother down 2 3 weeks and he uses electric wheelchair. We were worried about him not seeing where to go and making the corneres. We have a group of 8, maybe they will let us go in by ourselves.

what kind of food is available at Finnegans?

Thanks

Fellow DISers here! We'll wave to you at Finnegans around 4:30 or so! Look for the family of three (Mom, Dad, and DS) with the crazy 13 year old who can't wait for HHN! (DS has been planning this for a year. I think by the time we get to Finnegan's he'll be completely out of control with excitement.)

Back home yesterday and still a bit jet lagged:mad:
But what a fantastic night opening night was:cool1: We all loved it so much. And have to say was helped on with meeting up with Craig and Emilie (Raph-b) and the fantastically knowledgable Metro West:thumbsup2 Really enjoyed doing a few houses with them and BIG thanks to Todd for letting me grab on to him going through those houses:worship: DH thought it was the funniest thing ever watching me in there getting the life scared out of me and grabbing onto Metro!! Guys it was real nice meeting up with you:cheer2:
The houses we saw were excellent, very dark some of them but very good. One of the worst things apart from the frights of course was those material walls you had to fight your way through, didn`t like them very much especially when I lost sight of Metro West who was always not more than an inch away from me!!!!
We did creatures, Body collectors, Reflections of fear, Interstellar terror and The Hallow. Not sure what the thing was about the Hallow but it was really good. There was a ghost woman who was very scary. Well I think it was in there.
The scare zones were fantastic!!!! I lost half my blood bag at one point when one of those tall people appeared at my side, think I squished it in his face!! Also DH got a cracking picture of me when I stood beside a pumpkin head guy who I thought was dummy, then he moved towards me and I almost passed out with fright:laughing:
Bill and Ted was a bit disappointing this year. Funny, but thought last years was better, like it when they poke a lot of fun at Disney.
Overall a fantastic night and I`m so disappointed that we are not going to be in Orlando next time as we have to go in August next year:sad1:
Also thanks to Dark Marauder for the badges as we were going into Reflections, nice souvenier :thumbsup2
Definately one of our best nights on our holiday :)

It was a manual wheelchair. I don't know if you can go through with electric; I've seen 'spare' manual wheelchairs sitting near some of the houses, so I'm wondering if they would have him transfer into one of those. Other than the inflatable walls I can't think of anything that would pose a problem. The darkness is a challenge in some of the houses, but there are lots of security people who will use a flashlight and point you in the right direction if needed. Heck, I've lost count of the number of times we've gotten lost and made the wrong turn!

You can find the menu for Finnegan's at this link: http://allears.net/uni/menu/men_fin.htm

Glad you guys made it back safely and I really enjoyed meeting your family! :cool1:

Oh my God!!! Am I the only one who thought that Scary Tales SUCKED??? It was so frickin dark in there I couldn't see two inches in front of me, and on top of that, I turned into three security guards thinking they were exits, and one guy was so well hidden, I started pushing him like he was one of those flappy things that seperate rooms.
But even worse was that when I could see, it wasn't scary. It all felt like a little kid's Halloween drawing come to life--it didn't make sense, and it was all kind of Disney-like and strange (in a bad way.) I just didn't like it, and even worse, I didn't get scared in there once.

I agree with most of you all on Doomsday...not very good, not horribly bad. But Bill & Ted's...uh. I'll agree, some of it was funny, but some of it pretty much imitated the god-awful Disaster Movie that recently came out and also recently got pulled from the theatres. And while some jokes that got a chuckle out of me were wholesome and original, but for the most part, why does it seem like Universal got foul language and crude/sexual stuff confused with actual comedy. Was the part where Predator shoves screws into the X-Files man really neccesary? Those kinds of sights and noises aren't funny, just inappropriate. Yes, Universal, we know that since you're not Disney, you don't have to be family-friendly, and since it's a seperately-ticketed event with a 'Parental Advisory' sign, you can be PG-15 rated, but does that mean you should? Violence in the houses is fine because it's scary and unlike things you've seen outside the movies. But the crude and foul stuff in the Bill and Ted show didn't add anything to the experience, and the show wasn't that funny.

Anybody agree with me here? I feel like Appalachian State while most of you all are Michigan.

I think I liked it a lot more than you did, but I agree if was more clever than scary. The best analogy I can think of is "Psychoscarapy: Home for the Holidays" last year, which never really got a jump out of me, but which I still enjoyed even after 7 or 8 trips through. Little touches, like the grandma killed with cookie cutters or Santa in his boxers, just made it interesting.

I thought the "Disney-like" nature was purely intentional--trying to tweak the Mouse, as Universal always does (from the floating mouse ears on Jaws all the way up to The Simpsons ride).

I'm getting so many mixed reviews-from no scares-to scary as h**-no crowds-crowds are huge-B&T stinks this year-B&T is great!!:confused3

No general consenses,or anyone really giving the same review!!

Everyone has a opinion but everyone is giving mixed reviews even from the vetrans!!

I went from being very underwhelmed by Scary Tales to liking it quite a bit. It was kinda "flat" the first day we were there, but on the last two visits I found it much improved. It's still not my favorite (Dead Exposure has a firm hold on that honor), but I like it better now. The one that gets good reviews but that just doesn't grab me is The Hallow. I dunno what it is because we've gone through many, many times so it's not just an off time. No good quality scares and okay theming but nothing that really speaks to me. Sad to say it, and I know most will think I am crazy, but I like Creatures better.

Bill & Ted is my biggest disappointment this year. I don't mind gross humor if it's actually funny, but most of it this year just seems to be grossness for the sake of grossness. Compare that to last year with Rosie and Trump doing the nasty...don't know why, but that made me laugh. The only part I really like this year is the beginning with the politicians. Rapidly goes downhill from there.

I am suffering from HHN withdrawal...we were going to go tonight but the rain scared us off, so I'm getting a small "hit" via the CityWalk camera. I can see the fog from the scare zone. Sigh!

Can anyone confirm wht the latest is you can get into the park with stay and scream. We will be leaving Animal kingdom villas at 3:45, wondering how much we have to rush. I am assuming 15 minute drive plus another 15 minites to park and get through citiwalk. Thoughts?

Never been to HNN before but really excited about going this year.
I can do most any haunted house/attraction and I am ok. People jumping out at me, gore, etc is all fine. I am, however, pretty claustrophobic.

Am I going to have a problem in all the houses or just possibly the Bloody Mary house? I have heard people mention the latex walls/curtains/tunnel and I am really concerned about that. I hate to skip this slince it is the main attraction this year but I think I may have to simply because of that.

I know that this is for Orlando but I went to the one in Hollywood last night and it was great!

Hi Carol! Hope you and the family enjoyed the rest of your holiday!

It was great meeting up with you all for the opening night of HHN, hopefully we'll be able to do it again one day! :)

Well...you can't get into the park with S & S...you have to have a valid ticket or AP for admission into the park. But...the latest I would suggest is 4:30pm since they close at 5pm. You are really going to be cutting it close if you're leaving Disney at 3:45pm during that time of day. The traffic gets ugly in the afternoons.
