The *OFFICIAL* Grey's Anatomy Fan Thread!

I know Mer is supposed to be older than the average resident. I think her and the rest of the Grey's residents are supposed to be about 4 years older than an average resident which would put them in their early 30s.

Lexi, on the other hand, must be a prodigy because she is a resident at 24, when I think people graduate med school around 26.

I vaguely remember something along those lines, actually!

I didn't like last night's show either. I can't believe they had Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's all in one episode!! I guess that means no Grey's until January....:confused3 That stinks!

I didn't like it either and I do think it means no new show until January. It was a weird show. The heart patient and the little boy/brain were the only interesting story lines.

I really liked last night's show. Things aren't perfect with Owen and Christina...who didn't see that coming? Yes, Owen may have feelings for Teddy ( I think that's her name) but it is possible to have feelings for two people. It's life. Christina kissed that other doctor (don't know his name...just know he is HOT!) so she isn't an angel either.

I do wish that the Izzie/Alex storyline was touched on last night. Seems weird to go through that much time and not mention it at all. I wonder where they are going with that when the show picks back up in JANUARY (what will I do??).

I loved all the Christmas music in the episode too...but I love Christmas:lovestruc

My favorite line in the show was when Arizona, Mark and Derek were telling Chief they would fund the continuation of making that instrument for the kid's surgery. Mark says something about him having an 18 year old kid who may want to go to college and Arizona says, "Have you met her?" Hilarious!:lmao:

They really should have made that a two part series. I didn't know what day it was half the time. I'll have to rewatch it.
Mer looked really pregnant in her first scene in a training room with the chief.

I think they could have done much more with the Sloane ( Mark's daughter) story. It was New Years before he sat down and really talked to her and we learned more about her. And Mark looks way older than 36. I would guess him to be 40.
I still like the episode a lot.

Holy disjointed episode, Batman!

Count me in among the people who didn't know what day it was half the time. They crammed 6 weeks into one episode?:confused3

The next new episode of Grey's won't air until January 14th.

At first I was disappointed, but it hasn't been that good lately so I'm a little relieved that it will free up some time for me.

And I think Hunt and Christina have no chemistry. It looks forced.

I think Hunt and Christina will be over by the end of the season and it'll be Christina and Avery and Hunt and Teddy.

Bolding mine. I had to go back to campus today to go over how to schedule our 4th year, and under the graduation requirements, it says that to be eligible for graduation from our medical school, you must be at least 21 years of age. Granted, most people are already at least 21 when they enter, but I just thought it was funny to make it a requirement for graduation. The average age of the med student grad is actually increasing now, because a lot of people get masters, or do post-bacs, or make it a second career. Right now, I'm rotating on surgery, and I am, at 24, the youngest student. Everyone else is closer to 30, or over 30.

And there is no way that I am buying Sloane to be 36. If you do the math, it doesn't add up. Assuming he graduated med school at 26, then a plastics residency, or general surgery followed by a plastic fellowship is another 6-7 years. So that will put him at around 32-33. So are we really to believe that he became a world renowned, talented plastic surgeon in 5 short years? Sure it's I guess possible, but it's not very likely.

BTW, i may have missed this, but why is the chief giving Meredith private lessons? And why is no one going to the hospital director (the chief's boss) and crying unfairness? Because really, it's not right that only Meredith is special enough to get private lessons.

The guy who plays McSteam Eric Dane was born in 1972

The girl who plays Lexie, Chyler Leigh was born in 1982

I think it's because Meredith saw the Chief drinking at the bar. He wants to make sure she doesn't tell anyone that he's drinking.

I was confused at times during the episode too. Just glance away & you missed the info telling you what day it was.

Do you know why its already the middle of Jan on the show? Are there no new episodes until the new year? Inquiring minds want to know.

Just speculating, but they are probably taking this long break because of Ellen Pompeo's pregnancy and Katie Heigl's adoption. This will give them each a long maternity leave to be home with the kids.

ETA: I know that they had Ellen on the show "recovering", but those scenes were probably filmed before the birth and the scenes in last night's episode could have been filmed at any time. Now she gets at least a 6 week break from filming.

I'm so excited, a new episode will be on this Friday! I hope it's good and I think it's a crossover episode with Private Practice.
I think they should have addressed Meredith looking so much heavier ( pregnancy). They should have said she was on meds that made her gain weight or something. She just looks so different.

Has anyone heard this was Patrick Dempsey last year on the show. His Contract is up and he's not coming back:sad1:

I had not heard that. Say it isn't so! I know he is still on for the rest of this season b/c Shonda Rhimes has talked about him for this season.
I will go google this.

I hope that's not true! They keep on getting rid of my favorite characters, and I watch less and less.

Patrick Dempsey, who reportedly auditioned for the role of Dr. Chase on Fox's House before taking on his career defining role of Dr. Shepherd, has not publicly said he'll leave the show. But some do say that he may at some point leave to follow in the footsteps of George Clooney. I think it would be a tremendous shame, but hopefully it won't happen in the near future since he has always been able to balance his TV career along with his movie career.

I couldn;t find anything concrete one way or the other. So I guess no news is good news.

If he did leave Id on't blame him he doesn't really get much of a goodstory line, Playing fiddle to the younger guys
