The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

I had a c-section with DS5 after my watering breaking and almost 24 hours of labor with 2 of the pushing. His head was also to big for my pelvis. He was 39 weeks weighing 8 lbs 6 ozs and I am only 5'.

I thought about a VBAC with Lilliana since my hospital is all for it but decided against it. So if any of you have question's on a repeat ask away. I thought it was much easier the second time around.

I had staples that needed to be removed about a week after delivery. :scared1: My scar is very low below the underwear line, almost in line with the bottom of my hip bone.

The last line, about an OB's premiums in Florida really scared me! There is NO WAY that premiums are that high here. My OB got $2200 for my entire 9 months of prenatal care AND delivery.
I think that's what the OB's pay for medical insurance to cover their behinds in case of malpratice or lawsuits. (Or is malpratice or lawsuits the same thing?)

And $2200 is cheap! I know we paid quite a bit more.

It looks like we are stroller shopping. Come November/December, we are going to need a double.

We're old. There's no time to wait.

I hear ya! We're old too. I'm 38 (had to think about that for a minute!) & DH is 44......

That may have been a contributing factor in my having twins...... Not that I'm wishing that for you, but I'm just saying..... :goodvibes Anyways we were looking for just 1 more before time shuttered the factory on us & look what happened!

How is your wife feeling? (Is is Kathy? I forget, totally bad with names.)

Cathy's been feeling a little dizzy and nauseous for a few days, but other wise fine. Sarah is just awesome. She is at a happy, cooing, giggly phase right now. She still driving Cathy a bit bonkers because she wants to sleep on her instead of in her crib, but mostly that's because Cathy is enabling her to do so. She has, on occasion, crashed in her crib and slept for hours, so we know that it's doable.

Hopefully, twins will not be in the picture. It was all we could do to figure out Sarah. It's going to be crazy when we have a newborn and a 1 year old.

I hear ya on all accounts. I'm still trying to talk myself into forcing the crib issue a little more, but everytime I feel ready, we hit a developmental phase that kills the notion instantly. What I have learned is that what works one day (a 2 hour nap in the crib) will almost definitely not work the next day, but it might happen next week. Whatever Cathy has to do so that they get the most sleep.

And twins terrify me. Some of you may remember me wishing for them the first time around? Thank goodness that never happened!! :scared1: I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around having 2 let alone three!

Best of luck!

Congrats to you and your wife!:yay:

My first two are 15 1/2 months apart. The only thing I can say is that it is the best of times and the worst of times. Wouldn't change it for anything!:goodvibes

I used to wish for twins, too! Especially a boy and girl! How perfect! :cloud9: Then I had Emma and could barely handle it! I honestly wonder how people are able to have twins (or triplets) or how people have newborns without family nearby or as a single mom! :scared1: I don't think I could handle things without DH or my mom living so close!

Hello all & welcome to the moms that have just joined us (or just found their way over to us.) :goodvibes

On dressing kids alike... I never in a million years thought I would, but I really like buying & having the twins wear matchy b/g outfits. Obviously they're not exactly alike, but if I can get the same outfit in blue & in pink, hehe, they're wearing 'em. At least while they are still too young to object. I'm sure they'll object eventually.
I like to dress them similar, but not the exact some thing for pictures and disney. example...gymboree had a great spring line, that I got 2 different sweater vests for the younger 2 w/green polos for all and oldest wore just the polo.

for disney next month. oldest wearing red w/black mickey tshirt, middle same shirt w/mickey made shorts..youngest in mickey jon jon that matches.
We LOVE our baby K'tan baby carrier, it is GREAT! I cannot say enough about it!

For dry skin (and baby acne) we use(d) Aquaphor and it works WONDERS!

I use to use aquaphor. when we brought cj to dermatologist for his spots, they suggested hydrolatum for his dry skin, it's similar to aquaphor but doesn't have something in it for high allergy kids, it's worked wonders. You have to ask pharmcist for it, it's kept behind counter about $12 for 16 oz tub..so worth it!

Hi everyone!
I'm relatively new here and wanted to introduce myself! How wonderful to have a bunch of women who can talk about the life of motherhood! I should have thought to look at this when I was soooo depressed several weeks ago! Good thing that passed (sleep helps), but then I got sad again when I had to return to work. :guilty: Oh well, one day closer to summer vacation.
Sarah, that is hilarious! I watch TMZ in the am when I pump, so I hope they show it!
welcome!

Hi everyone, hope it's not too late for me to join you all. I know it's been a while. Evan was born on November 19, 2009 at 11:19 pm and weighted 9lbs 1oz and was born via Emergency C-section...they let me labor for 36 hours with little progression. Needless to say I was unhappy, I figured I'd end up with a C-Section from the very beginning but no one would listen to me. I was ok with the idea of the C-Section, but I realized days later afterwards just how upset that I didn't get to "see" him being born. It was like one minute he was in me and next he was out. They didn't even tell me they were starting the surgery so I was totally out of it.

Hope all the Mommies and Babies are doing well and congrats to those who have just had their babies and are expecting another baby as well!

Kristen

I don't have a photobucket account as of yet do I don't know if I can post pictures on here yet, but I do have a facebook, PM if you're interested.
welcome

I called the pediatrician today to see if they wanted to see Lucas... ER asked me to follow up with the pedi.

They wanted to, especially since I was in the building to see my OB, so we headed up there.

Turns out he has a bad ear infection now. So I'm glad I took him in. Poor baby has had a rough week of things!
He wasn't up for another stop so when DH gets home I've got to go get his prescription. Then we get to go back to the pediatrician. The checkout lady struck again.. the NP we saw told me to bring him back in 3 weeks but she said she was making it for 4 weeks. Whatever, lady. I just had her make it the same day as my next OB appointment, as least then it's only one trip...
Poor Lucas...hopefully he's feeling better!

Two Questions

Now that baby is a month old how often would you recommend DH and I bath him? We are thinking once a week.

With formula, how long after warming it up for him should he eat it by? The instruction say to use within an hour once you start to feed but how long if he hasn't started feeding yet cause he feel back asleep and the bottle has been warmed and waiting for him?
we would give him a bath 2x per week at that age.

I, also, don't heat up formula. I use bottled spring water to mix it and keep that on counter so it's room temp. When we were using liquid that was kept in fridge. I would put bottle in hot tap water to warm it up. I was always told 2 hours after they drank out of it., because of the bacteria that goes back in.
Saw this article and thought other c-section moms might find it interesting:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/11/health/11birth.html

Also, the article made me curious-- where are your incisions? Mine is above the underwear line, almost right in line with my hip bones. Seems like that isn't the norm on the wte.com boards.

For me, repeat csection was my only option. I do not dilate. I had 3 inductions w/my oldest and during first went from 1 to 1.5 cm, and that was it. I had been having contractions for a week prior to induction. With CJ, I ended up with emergency csection because I wasn't dilating (it was going to be planned csection) and again absolutely no dialiation, but he was early. My OB was worried about me rupturing, as they could not stop the contractions. Middle...no dialation and I had him about 10 days early. But I have big babies!!! 9lbs 8 oz, 11 lbs and 9 lbs 14.8 oz (at 36.5 weeks)!

My scar is around underwear line...I wear hip huggers, so it's low.

Piecey- thanks for the article that was very interesting. My c-section scar is very low, below my underwear line guess you would say. If you don't mind me asking, did they use staples or sutures?

I had staples, all 3 times, 3 different OB's. 2 different practices.

Congratulations!!!
I used to wish for twins, too! Especially a boy and girl! I did it!! My husband worked nights, and I have no family close by.. So I had my 7yo, 3yo, and the twins.. All by myself! But I did okay. It was rough for a bit.. but really, not too hard. But I am glad Im done having babies. :lmao: As much as I would love another, I really am glad the infant/newborn stage is behind me.

We had such an exciting day in house yesterday!!! First, my oldest came home from school and gave me an envelope... He made student of the month!! I was so excited, and proud.. I totally started crying!!:lmao: He is excited, because he gets a cookie!:rotfl2: THEN.. My four year old lost her first tooth!!! She will be five in a few weeks.. So it is a little early. But it has been loose for a while. AND she has another loose tooth. She came in my room at two this morning to tell her that the tooth fairy left her a dollar. :lmao:

We had a bad night last night. Looking back, it wasn't really that bad--she only got up to eat once, but getting her to bed was a nightmare--probably cuz I was more interesting in watching Lost. :teeth:

I'm so frustrated with sleep. For a while Lily was sleeping in her crib for naps, but now she will only go down for 5-15 minutes and then go back to sleep after being picked up. She wants to sleep in someone's arms. Everyone gives in to her because it is so hard to get her to sleep in the first place. My mom keeps throwing out comments about me making her sleep in the crib at night, but she gives in for naps and holds her.

She hates to sleep! I honestly don't know how we'd survive if we weren't cosleeping. We've tried some of the more gentle sleep training, but she doesn't respond well at all and any attempt at CIO (by my aunt--it's interesting having so many perspectives) leads to screaming.

I keep telling myself it won't last forever. i have a few friends with kids that were the same way that said to enjoy the cuddles cuz they grow out of it faster than you realize.

Her daddy hates to sleep too, so I blame him.
