The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Poor Lucas. Hope he gets to feeling better soon.

We are going to do a pool party for Natalie's first birthday.... a "baby" pool party. We don't have a pool but I found a super cute one at Target for her. It is going to be a small and short party from 12 to 2ish when she goes down for her nap. We will probably put something on the grill and have cake and icecream.

Okay, hopefully the relatives will understand the shortness of the party. It'll be at the end of July, so I'm thinking outdoors. If it's hot, everyone will leave quickly. lol

Hope Lucas is feeling better!!

ETA: So absolute minimum guestwise is 29, I think...maybe more like 35. A few won't come, others won't stay very long.

Oh my. That is sad. I cannot even imagine. :(

Thanks for the thoughts for Lucas.. good thing is he doesn't act like anything is wrong. Still being a destructive little thing and smiling and laughing.

Just hoping we can get these skin issues under control. Also hoping that #2 gets DH's skin.

You can see a little bit of it on his face in this picture, though it's pretty mild on his face.

He had a ball with that stupid cup! DH had an appt. at the VA hospital (which is like an hour from here) so we chilled at the park next door and he cracked me up playing with that cup. :rotfl:

*eta* Sarah, I'm confused. Why are you wanting it to be so short?

I'm thinking 2-3 hours. DH's fam has a tendency to go more like all day. Though I don't know why I'm worrying about that...they've been really good about everything once we got past the right after birth visits. :headache: And even those weren't out of line, but my baby blues made everything so hard those first few weeks.

And I haven't been able to enjoy a "pass the baby" get together yet. She had whined and cried unless she was in my or DH's arms. Hopefully we'll be past that. :thumbsup2

lol I think I'm getting caught up in all of the child party threads around here lately! :lmao:

Two Questions

Now that baby is a month old how often would you recommend DH and I bath him? We are thinking once a week.
We bathe Isabel everyday (skipped two or three days in the 5 months she's been alive). My mom thinks it should be twice a day, and it may be once we start food = but I think it is a cultural thing. The couple days I skipped my MIL was appalled, lol. Isabel LOVES bath time and it is part of her bedtime routine. . . DO what you want/what you think your baby needs.

We had a bad night last night. Looking back, it wasn't really that bad--she only got up to eat once, but getting her to bed was a nightmare--probably cuz I was more interesting in watching Lost. :teeth:

I'm so frustrated with sleep. For a while Lily was sleeping in her crib for naps, but now she will only go down for 5-15 minutes and then go back to sleep after being picked up. She wants to sleep in someone's arms. Everyone gives in to her because it is so hard to get her to sleep in the first place. My mom keeps throwing out comments about me making her sleep in the crib at night, but she gives in for naps and holds her.

She hates to sleep! I honestly don't know how we'd survive if we weren't cosleeping. We've tried some of the more gentle sleep training, but she doesn't respond well at all and any attempt at CIO (by my aunt--it's interesting having so many perspectives) leads to screaming.

I keep telling myself it won't last forever. i have a few friends with kids that were the same way that said to enjoy the cuddles cuz they grow out of it faster than you realize.

Her daddy hates to sleep too, so I blame him.

We have so many sleep issues too - Isabel wants to spend the night in our arms, ugh. She had gotten to where she would sleep 5-7 hours alone in the crib, and she's reverted back. She wants to only sleep in our arms now or in bed with us. I keep hoping it will get better, but only time will tell.

He had a ball with that stupid cup!
Isabel's favorite "toy" at my mom's house is a plastic red cup, LOL!

I know why I want functions with our relatives to be short. :rolleyes1

Cathy told her parents that we are expecting another baby.

Her mom asked her if I knew how to use condoms.
Her dad told her that he wasn't happy about it because she is 'fat and old'.

In-laws from hell, I tell you.

Maybe I'm just used to long days by the pool with the entire family. Almost every family get together in the summer was at my parent's house because of the pool and their setup there.
I've never thought about trying to keep it short, I'm just used to people coming and milling around until whenever.

We went through that with my MIL/BIL. MIL told DH she wasn't happy at all and BIL told us we were stupid because we don't take care of the kid we have.

A lot of people have asked us when we plan to ask the doctor where babies come from. :sad2:

Try not to let them get to you! I know you two are both probably over the moon excited so try not to let them get you down. Their comments are ignorant.:mad:

OMG!:headache: That is disgusting. They wouldn't be invited! Please tell me they live in another state or something.

Dude, with that set up? I'm tempted to drive down and hang out! :thumbsup2

We hope to have something like that when we move.

Wow! Thank you both for reminding me what is really important! I'd much rather have my worst issue be my wonderful relatives overstay their welcome! Now I feel ridiculous!:sad2:

Yikes! Way to be supportive folks. So NOT. You'd think they'd be happy about grandbabies......

That's just horrible! So sorry you have to deal with that!

Ugh! That's just awful! I'm so sorry!! When my SIL (husband's brother's wife  )was pregnant with their 3rd (two boys previously so she was really hoping for a girl), FIL was "dissapointed" when they found out she was having a girl! He claimed he was used to boys and wasn't sure what do with girls. A month later they found out we were having a girl, too! Guess grandpa and grandma better get used to the ladies! :snooty:

I think you should have twins just to spite them.:thumbsup2

Sadly, they only live about thirty minutes away. I actually suspect that they are upset because Cathy isn't able to be at their beck and call so much since Sarah was born and that they will have even less control of her once we have two kids.

Interestingly (or not), Cathy's parents living locally is the major reason that Cathy hasn't wanted to move away on the couple of occasions that opportunity has presented itself. I bet she regrets that decision sometimes.
