The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Okay, sounds a lot like giving meds to cats! lol

Isn't funny how babies are like cats? Maybe I should start a thread. lmao

Except it breaks my heart more to watch Lucas than it does to watch Reese (my cat)...

That and Lucas is stronger. With opposable thumbs.

AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to take 2 Earth Science classes for my teaching degree. I really am not a fan of the teacher. He lives and breathes that stuff, it is his LIFE. His tests are miserable, he usually focuses on one thing but you have no idea what it will be. Most of the students who attempt either drop or don't pass. I got a D in the one I took, which is enough for a business degree but not an education degree. Gah! lol.

Anyway, he is not on the schedule for the fall! For ANY CLASSES! I'm so torn now on trying to find a way to take the class while someone else is teaching it or just letting myself recover. If I took him again with 2 kids I wouldn't be able to go full time.. just no way on earth I'd be able to give it the time he requires. He's been teaching there for something like 14 years! There is another teacher about an hour from here where we can go take the classes and some people actually make the drive to avoid him... if he's really not teaching this fall I want to take the class HERE! :(

Sorry, random vent... I just got VERY excited.

Anyone here interested in 20% off Gymboree?

It's a card, so I can either PM the code for you to order offline or mail you the card. It's good until 4/30.

I keep looking but I'm just not wild about Gymboree.

Two Questions

Now that baby is a month old how often would you recommend DH and I bath him? We are thinking once a week.

With formula, how long after warming it up for him should he eat it by? The instruction say to use within an hour once you start to feed but how long if he hasn't started feeding yet cause he feel back asleep and the bottle has been warmed and waiting for him?

I think the rec for bathing is 1-2 times a week. We did it a bit more cuz Lily loves baths.

I think if they haven't touched it the rule is 2 hours before it's bad. It's an hour, like you said, after they start to eat because of bacteria or something.

I never warmed formula, but that is the rule we follow after we mix the water with the powder.

Lucas got a bath 2x a week- Monday and Friday. Now he gets 3.. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

We give bath's 2-3 times a week, my pedi told me every 3 days or so is good. We don't warm up the formula anymore either but I think it's an hour from when they start eating it.

OMG-is this the tattoo freak? Was she that weird in school? And she is trying to pass herself off as 8 yrs younger!:rotfl:

You all have been talkative today. Welcome to the new moms! And amen to one day closer to summer. I take it that poster is a teacher, too? We get out 9 wks from Thursday, and I leave for WDW 70 days from today!

I have an Ergo, but never really got the hang of baby wearing. It is in the back of my SUV. I do want to practice with it some for WDW.

My oldest sister's best friend from school killed herself today. Her husband went home at lunch and found her. So sad. They had one son, in high school. Very sweet kid. She has been depressed for years. My sister said she had been calling her for 2 wks and she wouldn't answer or call her back. That is usually a sign of her depression being worse. She was 47. The older I get the younger that is.:sad1:

Oh gosh... thats horrible. I dont think I told you all, but my dad committed suicide.. It was a horrible thing to go through. They lived in Reno at the time, but he is interred at a military cemetery here. I still havent gotten up the nerve to go there. It was three years ago. Anyways.. Im so sorry for your sister, and the family. Its such a hard thing to go through for those that are left behind.

You guessed it! I teach 7th grade history (which is Texas history here). Been doing it for several years now and may need to find something else before I lose my mind!! :dance3: I do enjoy it most days, just miss being around baby girl!
And I'm so sorry to hear about your sister's friend. I can't imagine how hard that must be, especially for her husband and son.

So it is a beautiful day outside today. Elliott and I left the house about noon to run some errands (and, off topic, the soccer cleats I got for DS10 had better fit him! I am so not ready to buy men's shoes for him!!!). He slept the whole time. We got home and I figured he would walk up anytime to eat, since I last fed him about 11 this morning. Right now it is 4:20, and he is STILL SLEEPING. I was hoping he would wake up, I could feed him, and we would go for a walk. And this long nap is coming from my little one that hardly naps at all during the day!!

Thanks guys. My sister is still struggling today. She called the friend's mother, but said she is too upset to talk. I keep thinking about her dh and ds. I'm so sorry Staley-I can't imagine going through that.

Katie gets a bath every night. She has always loved them. I don't use soap every night though. Usually only every 2 or 3 nights. Now that she is eating, and she loves to feed herself, the bath is a must!

I had to tape a counseling session with some of my students today. I have to tape 3 group sessions and 3 individual sessions. I hate the thought of someone picking over what I say!

I teach high school math, and I'm working on my counseling degree. I am so ready to be through so I can concentrate on my kids again! I have tried other jobs, but really don't like doing anything else. I had some kids ask me today why I picked high school. I told them someone had to be willing to put up with them, and for some reason I really like them!:rotfl:

Saw this article and thought other c-section moms might find it interesting:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/11/health/11birth.html

Also, the article made me curious-- where are your incisions? Mine is above the underwear line, almost right in line with my hip bones. Seems like that isn't the norm on the wte.com boards.

I've had 3 vag deliveries and have strong opinions on labor and delivery as the medical community treats it. The c-section rate is horrible, as is our infant mortality rate among other things.

Piecey- thanks for the article that was very interesting. My c-section scar is very low, below my underwear line guess you would say. If you don't mind me asking, did they use staples or sutures?

I only know what I experienced, but I didn't find my l&d to be bad at all (in terms of how I was treated). The situation sucked a bit (epidural wearing off, gallbladder attacks and a babies head too big for my pelvis :rotfl:) but I agree. Some of the stuff I've read (a bit on here, but mostly on the wte.com boards) makes me cringe and very happy that I have a hospital and OB that I love.

My OB is VERY pro-VBAC. I never dreamed she'd let me do one this close together but she still makes sure at every appointment that I know it is an option. I still feel she did everything she could to try to give me a "natural" delivery w/ Lucas. It just wasn't going to work.

The last line, about an OB's premiums in Florida really scared me! There is NO WAY that premiums are that high here. My OB got $2200 for my entire 9 months of prenatal care AND delivery.

I had sutures- they were the ones that dissolved, though. She just taped me up and I went on my way.

like Sarah said before- my situation was similar to yours. I had a horrific labor that ended in a c-section and I felt a lot of what you posted about. If you ever wanna talk to someone else who has "been there" feel free to PM me! There was a mom I met on the DIS who talked to me on Facebook after my delivery. She had a situation similar and it felt good to get it out to someone who could relate.
