The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

I have a question, I know the post isn't new but maybe the thought is. WHen I asked about paying for conceirge I was quoated an amount of $100.00 a day. I already have a courtyard view so that was a little more then I wanted to spend. However, I have been listening to people saying ask for an upgrade when you get there (Apr 30th-May 8th) Generally I am a bit shy about that kind of thing, that having been said, are there any of you out there that have done it, did it go OK? I would love conceirge level. For those of you whome have had it, knowing the benefits how much would you be willing to spend? We eat one big meal a day, so I figure 6 out of the 8 days we could use it to supplement the other 2 meals. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance....

Have a magical day,
Anna

Wine and Cheese Selections 5:00 - 7:00pm

The Breakfast has bagels, croissants, pastries, inividual serving boxes of cereal, juice, milk, coffee, tea (butter, cream cheese, honey, peanutbutter, jelly) - I think that's it.

Snacks - I only glimpsed them once this trip - mostly things like pretzels, mixed nuts, gummi bears and beverages

Wine and Cheese - Cheese platter, veggie platter, crackers, bread (butter)with a wonderful redpepper dip, a different hot soup every night, a different hot entree every night (stews, meat, chicken etc), peanutbutter and jelly uncrustables, soda, water, wine, beer, coffe tea

Cordials and Desserts - Several kinds of cookies, brownies, yummy sweat cookie bars, a hot fruit cobbler (berry, apple) coffee, hot chocolate, milk, tea, wine and about 4 bottles of cordials... Kahlua, Baileys, etc

JennaTX - yes, those rooms are across the hall from where you stayed previously. All the smoking rooms are on the sixth floor in the north wing after the last turn...great view!

Thanks! It made sense in my mind when I was reading the description, but sometimes my mind is not always correct, lol!

HI, I know the post is a little old and I'm not sure what answers you got but here's what I was told by the CM when I booked my stay. Obviously they don't make any promises but I was told the day before your stay call WL and remind them of your prefernces. I was told that each day they make the room choices for the next day and that is one of the best ways to obtain, but not guarantee, your preferences.

Have a magical day,
Anna

Hi - I'm going on my first trip to the WL and WDW in December. I made my reservations last night, and I booked a Woods view and asked the CM to request non-smoking, upper floor facing the Magic Kingdom. I'm hoping for one of those 5th floor rooms that you can see some of the fireworks from. I know they can't guarantee anything, but was this enough information or should I have been more specific? :confused3 Thanks! I'm really excited about my trip!

Hi Anna, that is a good idea, I think I'll try it this year. I just hope they don't get put off by my calling :guilty:

I shouldn't think they would get annoyed, especially since it was a CM who made the suggestion to me. I'm going to call.

Hello Wilderness Lodge fans haven't posted in a few days, I'm going back through the post and try and answer as many questions that might have been missed:

You can get to Poly by taking the boat to CS and then Monorail to Poly. And say it again They do have Mickey Waffles at WCC They are served with the breafast skillet.
Do you think this is the best way to get to the Poly, or does one of the buses stop there for pick up on the way to a park where we could just get off when they stop there to pick up guests? I remember stopping there, but is this consistently done?
Lesley
Well if the poster ment CR Contemporary Resort then yes that could be one of the quickest ways to reach the Polynesian
depending on what time you will be visiting.

Remember if you are visiting the Poly for dinner that the small Blue Flag Resort Boats between the CR and WL stop running at 10:00pm so if you will be traveling back to the Lodge after this time you could go to the Magic Kingdom (if the park is still open) then either catch the larger Greeb Flag Boat or the direct bus back to the Lodge.

If the Magic Kingdom has closed for the night, the old bus route that use to go to TTC will be running back to the Lodge. The Lodge as a rule doesn't share their routes with the Poly but things change all the time would can always ask the bus driver before boarding any bus.

As for the Mickey Waffles:
And say it again They do have Mickey Waffles at WCC They are served with the breafast skillet.
Sorry but the waffles @ WCC that are served with the breafast skillet are more like hockey pucks. Check out the photo below:

If we are not lucky enough to get a room with a view of Wishes, is there a public lounge on one of the upper floors that we can go to and see it? Or should we take the boat to CR; I understand that they have some place on the 4th foor you can stand and watch it.
tiggrbaby
There is a great viewing areas on the 6th, 5th and 4th floor, with the highest floor 6th being the best. The easiest directions would be, take the elevator located just down from Roaring Fork up to the 6th floor as you exit the elevator you will turn left toward the hallway then turn left again near Room # 6034 once you go around the corner from the elevator there will be another hallway on the Righthand side there will be a group of large windows covered by wooden shutters just open the shutters and you'll have a great view.

I listed the 5th and 4th floors because sometimes other guest are already standing at the 6th floor windows so just go down a floor.

Sorry we don't have a specific list of what type bedding in located in which rooms, we try and help with general room offerings. As requesting a specific room # is not generally done when making room request through CRO and limits the room assigners job.

There are rooms with bunk beds in Woods View (Lodge View) and Courtyard Views through out the Lodge, many that are connecting rooms with the other room having two queen size beds.

dinomom96 said:
Eeyore45, you stated you're going over a long weekend - Sept. 29-Oct.2 - what is the holiday? I'm shocked that there are no standard rooms available 7 months out. Is this normal?
Dinomom96
Not sure of how or where Eeyore booked (package, AAA, on-line) sometimes not all room types are listed or offered. The dates that they will be visiting are very populare due to this being the first week-end that MNSSHP starts, that may be the reasons for limited rooms.
timandlesley said:
So I still can't really get an answer so I'll ask again.
If I want a woodsview rooms 026-034 on the 3-5th floors to see WISHES from the balcony should I take the bunkbed request off of my ressie, or do rooms exist there with bunkbeds? I'd rather have the view than the bunkbeds. any help would be great.
Lesley

Keep your Bunk Bed request there are rooms that meet both your request, when you check-in you can always go over your options then as to what you prefer.

I read it seems that the concierge lounge shares a wall with the suites. So my question is will noise from the WCC or lounge be a problem in a north view room if we can get one. We will probably want to sleep in a couple of days and I am a light sleeper, of course if the noise is a problem I can jsut wear earplugs but I just wanted to know what to expect. Thanks.
Leash

Congratulations on your upcoming Wedding.
While the actual lounge (where the food is located) is on the South side of the Lodge they do have seating areas on both sides of the lobby. During my stay this area was never really crowded nor was there any noise. But you never know when a child might have a less then magical moment, this could happen outside any room.

Hope this helps

This past year the Wilderness Lodge will accept upgrades to Concierge Level if they have room to accomadate you.The rate will be the difference between what you paid for your room and the rate for concierge. Gone are the days where they would give you a reduced rate to upgrade to this level.

Actually Wilderness Lodge and most all the Disney Resorts will tell you...If you call...that all room request should come only through CRO. They use to accept Fax's a few days before your stay but they got way out of hand so they stopped this option. The room assigner will make every effort to assure you recieve all your request on your reservations from CRO.

I'm not going to say "Don't call" I'm just letting you know the offical responce in the past.

Well boo freaking hoo :o( I was really hoping that instead of leaving the room empty they would rather take a reduced rate to fill the room. Thanks for the info.

I understand how you feel, and while the savings on Breakfast and snacks are nice, you would come out better using Room Service. Yet my next stay will be concierge because..."I Love it" plus I got a great AP rate.

And I learned a whole lot even though we have been to the WL before.

I wanted to catch up on things since I just changed our Woodsview ressie to Concierge for late September/early October. Yippee! We're taking a belated 35th wedding anniversary trip and I decided to make it a very special trip! No worries now about making those calls for reservations and last minute changes!

Now if those hurricanes would just stay out of the way!

Can I pick your brain........assuming at this point you said yes :lmao: Why do you like concierge better? Are the rooms better/bigger, having the food available, the lounge or other things I don't know. I am thinking about upgrading, even at full price, and suprise my family when we get there. Thanks for all the time you taken to answer my questions.

Have a magical day,

While I usually enjoy making my own APR, the Concierge Team is great at taking care of all your dinning request and at getting harder to get ADR.

Check-in is a breeze, someone from concierge will meet you when you arrive and take you to the 7th floor.

While every housekeeper doesn't know how to make the towel animals, each of my neices received a new creation each day.

As there are fewer rooms on the 7th floor it was quieter in the hallways, my room was locted on the North side of the Lodge with a great view of the Castle and Wishes Fireworks everynight. The rooms are the same square footage as all the other rooms at the Lodge with the exception of the Suites.

The food being available was a great help at breakfast, very relaxing to just stop by in the afternoon for a cup of tea or snack . The items at night were wonderful, most of the items are prepared by the chefs at Artist Point. (Yummy)

If you have to change your plans, having the Concierge Staff available to make new or cancel ADR's without waiting forever on the phone was was priceless.

The staff always seem to go out of their way to make you feel special. One of my nieces had her birthday the day before we arrived yet she received a Birthday Card and Ballons when we returned to our room. The other niece had just started collecting pins, several CM gave her pins as she only had a few.

The nightly turn-down service was wonderful, coming back to your room late at night, having the beds ready to fall into with the added treat of the chocolate candy on your pillow.

The absolute best thing about staying Concierge according to my nieces is using your room key to access the 7th floor when others are on the elevator.

Beckie

Thanks, Magic, for the Wishes info! That was exactly what I was hoping for!

Beckie,
You are a peach! I really appreciate your taking the time to give me your expertise. If I can muster up the money I think I will book concierge. You make it seem like "you are special guests" My oldest DS is 16, he still wants to vacation with us but I fear those days may soon come to an end (he does still call me Mommy lol) Maybe if I go through AAA I maybe happily suprised.

Have a magical day,
Anna

While I haven't been blessed with my own children, I have many nieces and nephews (ages 6-21) that all love visiting WDW.

My oldest nephew 21 and is 1/2 mine (I made my sister agree to this while she was in Labor) when he reached his sophimore year at High School he started missing a few trips. :sad2: I was worried I had lost him. After a few years...He's back...his very first reservation in his own name was at Wilderness Lodge in a room across from mine. :woohoo:

Then his first College Spring Break he asked if I could book him and his roommates a room, I used some of my DVC points and booked them a one-bedroom villa, he was the tour guide this trip and scored major points with all his friends. Now all of them visit WDW when they have a few days off.

So just remember that even if your son strays a little in the future..."He'll be back."

Beckie,
I know he will be back lol thanks for the thought. Luckily "the boy" likes us and we like him "love is one thing like is very different". I just know that the experience with a 16yo and an 18yo are very different. He loves Disney and likes being a boy, he's on the cusp of being a man. You are very lucky to have neices and nephews in a long range of ages. I have 2 sons 16 & 10. I have 2 nieces 15 & 11.

Have a magical day,
Anna

Attention: All Wilderness Lodge Fans

As most of you know I have stayed many times at Wilderness Lodge. Over the years I have never had a room that wasn't more than acceptable, however the Lodge is now 12 years old and needs a little sprucing up.

Guess what?

I have it from a very reliable source that the refurbishment of the rooms will begin very soon they are planning all new furnishings, new carpet, new wallpaper, as well as new sinks the the bath area. They plan to start in the North Wing on 6th and 5th Floor two floors at a time...after the two North Wing floors are complete they will start on the South Wing 6th and 5th floor. They will confine the work areas so other guest staying at the Lodge will not hear or be inconvenienced by the workman. While a completion date is always subject to delays, the completion should be done before Fall.

From what I have heard the room refurbishment should start when the remodel @ Roaring Fork is complete.

While the information I have posted came directly from the Lodge this is all the information I have at this time. My next trip will be around the first of June so until then unless someone else gives us an update I will have no futher information.

I have known about the refurbishment since last June when a manager @ Wilderness Lodge gave me the information. Every change has to be gone over and approved by many levels of managment @ WDW. The final plans have been completed and the new room plans have received final go ahead. So now we just have to wait.

So all you Wilderness Lodge Fans keep the faith, soon no one will have anything negative to post about room conditions at the Lodge.

Beckie

Thanks Beckie

I couldn't have said it better. :thumbsup2
