Any "must-do's" learned from your trip? What did you love most about the hotel?

Make sure to check out the geyser - it's really neat!

I love this resort because I felt right at home there. I also like the theming since we (we're from FL) don't often see this design style. The staff was very nice, and you have to check out Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Woohoo! It official! A BIG Christmas surprise for the family (DH, myself, DS8 & DS4)
We've requested bunkbeds and booked a woods view room. Any suggestions for location?
How is the weather this time of year? Do we pack shorts or pants? We're Canucks so we'll swim in any pond that isn't frozen but it would be nice to have some Florida heat in February.
We're driving down - so any suggestions are welcome.

Usually the weather in Feb. is very mild (70's). It will be warmer during the day, but cooler in the evening. Since you are from Canada, you will find the weather pretty nice!

Wow. . .
I can't wait to reveal this surprise to the kids - they are going to FLIP!
We thought we would do a "trail of clues" they have to follow through the house. Any ideas? The boys are 8 and 4.

How about travel journals, coloring books, activity books, pencils, travel bag, travel items, then on to Disney trinkets.... maybe a fake ticket or note saying that Mickey can't wait to see you in February....

Have fun!!!

Great suggestions! An invitation direct from the great mouse himself will add that *magic* touch.

I love this board - you guys are amazing!!

We just got back and had the perfect room. It was a woods view by the elevator near Roaring Forks, but not so close we could hear the elevator. It was 4028. Your also close to the launches and pools on this side of the lodge. We could see the monorail, the lake, and the Contemporary through the trees. As an added bonus we had a great view of the fireworks too!

Beware the bed posts, we have the bruises to prove it!

Thanks for the info Goodeats! Is this a bunk room?

Hi guys! :wave2:

Getting ready to book WL for Oct '06, and have a question for you that I cannot remember the answer to.

We are booking WL again because A) We loved it and B) the transportation was great.
Our main goal thisyear is to make the Halloween party at MK.
Does anyone know if the boat will be running late on the party nights? That is our fav mode of transport, and sooooo easy.

~Chris

Not only are they running but they add extra boats to help.

It rained for us most of our MNSSHP and the first Parade was cancelled but they still did the fireworks.

We porobably wouldn't do it again to be honest.

Would anyone get board sleeping in the same room for 14 nights ?

We have a great AAA rate ($279 for courtyard) for 14 nights next year.
We requested bunkbeds - teen kids - DS :earsboy: & DD :earsgirl:
Hoping for a magical :wizard: AP rate :)

Great location for HDD, Sprit of Aloha (boat to MK area/Poly)
Close to MK - hop over to EPCOT/STUDIO's and AK
Pool can be done in the AM when less crowded (hey it'll be summer - definite crowds where ever you go - including SAB)
4th of July fireworks from the beach (we do not need music)
Great restaurants
refrigerator in room

I can not think of a reason not to spend 14 nights at the WL.
Can you ?

We just spent ten nights and did not get bored. We wished we could of stayed for 14!!!

Booked last week for Sept 06'. We have stayed POFQ, POR, and CBR on previous trips but can't wait to try a deluxe. Family thinks I booked Pop Century and was able to get confirmation out of mail before the DW so my secret is still intact. Now if I don't blab it in the next 9 months I'll be golden.

We LOVED the Wilderness Lodge. We were there from December 17-26 and would have loved to stay another 10 nights! We had booked standard view but were given a complimentary upgrade to woods view. Now, I am not saying we didn't love our rooms... we DID! But these were a woods view rooms with the broadest of descriptions, imho. Rooms 5087 and 5089 did have trees outside, but not many. And the real view was to the service road and the dumpsters below.

All that being said, I would request the rooms again. We were also on the lobby and we LOVED that. We had the 5th floor "sitting room" a few steps from our doors and we spent hours out there reading the paper, books, playing games and cards. Other families came out in their pajamas on Christmas morning to take pictures by the small fireplace and to open gifts. It was so very nice.

We also could kind of see the Contemporary and the monorail through our lightly wooded view. And we could watch the fireworks in the MK from our rooms too.

Our younger DD19 loves the Contemporary and Coronado Springs so WL was not her cup of tea. But the rest of us would go back in a heartbeat. The CMs were wonderful (Jeff and Jack, Ranger Stan and Hopalong Higgins) and the atmosphere was very conducive to relaxation. What a wonderful Christmas present to ourselves. :goodvibes

Hello all. We're heading to the Lodge for our 5th stay Jan 13th-20th. We're staying concierge. I've heard rumblings that High speed internet access has been added to the WL rooms. Can anyone confirm this?

During our last stay there they had cabled high speed access. I brought along a portable wireless access point to take care of that. :)

$10 per 24 hour period. (Start at 8:30am and ends at 8:30am the next day)

I recommend you pay for it after 8pm because you will be able to get two nights out of it. It's not like you will be using it during the day right?

Just wanted to take this time to wish everyone a happy and prosperous 2006. You are all an extension of my "family" and I look forward to many good times together here. Let's all make a resolution to get together at WL this year!!

WL fans sure are a terrific group! I just booked 4 rooms for the first week of december next year. We have a family going with us who have never visited WDW so we just knew WL would be the place to initiate them. LoL The only request I made (for our woods view rooms) is to be on the North Wing side (I know this cannot be guaranteed) From what I have read this is the Magic Kingdom side of the resort. Is this also the same side that Roaring Forks is on as well? We stayed in courtyard view rooms several years ago and I can't seem to remember. Also are the rooms on the ends that face Bay Lake considered woods view or what view are they included in? I am so excited to be returning to the Wilderness Lodge!
