The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

1st, I am fairly certain that you must return the bikes back to the original place you rented them from.

Secondly, the trail from Wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness is "not" lit and is "very" dark at night. Bring flashlights if you plan to return back to WL that way.

I would say that the walk from WL to FW is about 3/4 mile maybe less but I may be wrong.

Hope this helps.

Can anybody help me out? I think we're going to walk from Trail's End to the campfire, can anyone tell me how far of a walk that is or if I should wait for a bus???? I'm so excited, we leave in 10 days!

Would anyone get board sleeping in the same room for 14 nights ?

We have a great AAA rate ($279 for courtyard) for 14 nights next year.
We requested bunkbeds - teen kids - DS :earsboy: & DD :earsgirl:
Hoping for a magical :wizard: AP rate :)

Great location for HDD, Sprit of Aloha (boat to MK area/Poly)
Close to MK - hop over to EPCOT/STUDIO's and AK
Pool can be done in the AM when less crowded (hey it'll be summer - definite crowds where ever you go - including SAB)
4th of July fireworks from the beach (we do not need music)
Great restaurants
refrigerator in room

I can not think of a reason not to spend 14 nights at the WL.
Can you ?

Thanks Fred, I knew you'd come through with an answer for me! Do you happen to know how long of a walk it is from Trail's End to the campfire program? I think we'll stick with the boat to get to/from the Lodge, but not sure whether to wait on a bus or not to go to the campfire.

NOPE--- I can't think of a better place to spend 14 nights!!! Enjoy!!!

So we just put a deposit down on a Woods View room for May. :) Can't wait and I am crossing my fingers that some discoutns come out between now and then. :)

Does anyone have any pictures of the resort when it is all decorated. I would love to see what it is going to look like and possible get by DH buy in for the extra cost since he now wants to stay at a moderate due to price, but I really want WL. Any pictures you have I would love to see them.

Thanks so much :earboy2:

Just wanted to pass along that when I booked our CL room a couple of weeks ago for Dec 2-10, 2006, I was told at that time, that NO OTHER rooms were available! (I wanted CL to begin with, but asked her to check the price of the "regular" rooms....I guess just to figure out how guilty I should feel for splurging on CL :rolleyes1)

Since we're arriving on a Sat, leaving on a Sun, is it possible that it's perhaps there aren't regular rooms available for the entire stay rather than WL being "sold out" for that whole week?

I thought I was really booking early, but looks like I'm not the only WL advance planner! Just curious, is this typical?

Wow glad I booked back in September. We currently have 2 rooms but not sure if the other party is going with us. We are coming in on Nov 27 and leaving on Dec 3.

I have a WL "issue" so I thought I'd post here for some "support". We have a package booked for Jan/Feb for 6 nights. At the time we booked, the 7th night (Thurs Feb 2) wasn't available, but I thought we'd just wait and add it on when it opened up. Well now, we're a couple months out, and still nothing (except the $450 a night deluxe room) is available that night!

What do I do!? The nights before and after are all available, just not that night. What are the chances of something opening up closer to our dates? I know WL is very popular, but we really need that last night!

Any ideas? Thanks :)

Hello
I just wanted to let you all know that we just booked WL for Dec 6th -Dec 15th, standard room. So I guess if you play with the dates than you can get a room at this time. I am so excited... it is a suprise for my DH who thinks we will be staying a POR but really wanted WL. Just one more year a a day to go.

:wave2: Hi Lulu's Mom! We'll be there at the same time! Last week after much debate, I changed our dates to be Dec. 8th - 17th (I'm thinking crowds might be just a teensy bit lighter that 2nd week of December than my original dates during the 1st week).

I also was able to sneak in an extra day there under DH's nose...originally we were going for 8 nights, but now I've booked for 9

Happy planning!! I can't wait for next year this time when we'll be doing the single digit dance!!

I know.... it seems so far away but I am sure it will creep up on us so quickly. Starting tommorrow I can book a Dinner Show, if we want to attend one the first night of our trip. That brings me to a question... how do you know if they will have Mickey's BYBBQ going on when you are there, since it is a seasonal show. The CM I talked to said that sometimes they do have it during the Christmas season. Also how is Hoop Dee Doo? I would like to see one of them.

I just can not wait.... I am so excited.

I've never attended one of the dinner shows, but I reserved us for Hoop Dee Doo on 12/10. Everyone raves about this show, and since it's so close to the WL I thought we'd try it out this trip.

For some reason, I seem to remember reading posts that Mickey's BYBBQ doesn't happen during the xmas season, but I don't know if that's correct. I don't think we'd like that as well as HDD, so I didn't check into it.

I think the next planning step I can take at this point is to wait for the MVMCP tickets to come out (I think they start being sold in March??). After that I'll need to wait for the 180 day mark for my other ADRs! :goodvibes

If we have two connecting rooms, and we requested non smoking, near the lobby, one room with two queens, the other with a King... will we be put in the South Tower also? Or are there rooms elsewhere that fit that criteria. Also, since we requested a King room.. are those all handicap accessible, and if so are they on the first floor? I ask this because we do not have a handicapp traveller with us, rather I asked for a King for my mom and her boyfriend. I'd rather not be on the first floor, so if that is the only choice if we want a King, perhaps I'll ask for two queens in their room instead.

That's a lot of room requests, and chances are they won't be able to meet them. Between the king bed, and the near the lobby, you cut out a lot of rooms - plus then the connecting takes it down to a select few. You might get it, just be prepared not to.

hello,

i will be staying at the fort wilderness villas (2 bedroom)..

what rooms have the best views?

thanks

I assume you're taking about the Villas at Wilderness Lodge - not the Fort Wilderness Resort (which has campsites and cabins).

As far as room views go, most have a view of wooded areas. There are a few villas with pool views, but they are very difficult to get due to the limited number of them.

With a 2BR, you'll avoid the "dumpster view" - so basicly, you'll be looking at wooded areas.

Enjoy!

CD, I'm seriously thinking about getting rid of our King request for my mother and her BF. That would make my other requests have more of a chance of being met, and also less of a chance of us getting stuck on the ground floor.

I'd probably just stick to the connecting & non-smoking. The hallways really aren't that long, so I wouldn't worry about being too far from the lobby. You could probably even add a request for an upper floor, but there are so few rooms on the 1st floor it probably won't matter. We had connecting room on the 6th floor last year, one with a queen/bunk and the other with 2 queens - it worked out really well. Our only requests were n/s and connecting.
