WL fans sure are a terrific group! I just booked 4 rooms for the first week of december next year. We have a family going with us who have never visited WDW so we just knew WL would be the place to initiate them.

We went at that time this year, and my DH was skeptical prior to our trip. By the end of our stay at WL, however, he was wondering why people would want to vacation anywhere else! :rotfl:

Just wanted to take this time to wish everyone a happy and prosperous 2006. You are all an extension of my "family" and I look forward to many good times together here. Let's all make a resolution to get together at WL this year!!

Fred

Thanks Fred! I hope you and your family have a wonderful new year! I think I speak for all of us when I say THANKS for all the work you put into this thread! You and all DIS'ers are awesome! :cheer2:

The only request I made (for our woods view rooms) is to be on the North Wing side (I know this cannot be guaranteed) From what I have read this is the Magic Kingdom side of the resort. Is this also the same side that Roaring Forks is on as well? We stayed in courtyard view rooms several years ago and I can't seem to remember. Also are the rooms on the ends that face Bay Lake considered woods view or what view are they included in? I am so excited to be returning to the Wilderness Lodge!

Yes ...the North Wing side is the side that Roaring Forks is on. I believe all the rooms on the ends are deluxe rooms or suites. But some else should confirm this for you who knows for sure.

Everyone have a Happy New Year!!!

Subscribing to this thread- we booked 4 rooms at WL a few days ago for Dec. 16-23!! Cant wait to stay here after visiting on our last trip. It is so beautiful. This is a great thread- full of great information!!

Also, thanks Fred for the help with rooms for my DMIL who has the eye disease. We went ahead and booked rooms and Im talking with DMIL about what other needs she has that I would need to make requests for. Thanks :wave2:

Thanks for the info Fred. I'll make sure to bring the ethernet cord along.

During our last stay there they had cabled high speed access. I brought along a portable wireless access point to take care of that. :)

$10 per 24 hour period. (Start at 8:30am and ends at 8:30am the next day)

I recommend you pay for it after 8pm because you will be able to get two nights out of it. It's not like you will be using it during the day right?

The Wilderness Lodge is my favorite resort at WDW!!! I love the quaintness to it. When I stayed in 2003, had a woods view room (#: 5032). Below is the view from the balcony. This was a great room and the location was wonderful. It was near the elevators, but I found it very quiet. It was also a quick walk to the pool, boat dock and lobby and just a little further to the buses.

I am hoping for an AP code to come out for July 5 - 17, 2006. The current rate of standard view of $205 is a little high for us. Last year we stayed at POR and I loved it but my husband felt the rooms were too small. He wants more space after we put the kids to sleep at night, they are 7,5, and 2. I like the balcony in every room. It gives us a place to escape while the kids are sleeping. Should I book now at the high rate and hope for an ap code or should I just wait for the disounts to come out? I did not think it would be a problem until I read of rooms selling out in DECEMBER of 2006!

We always book our room when we know our travel dates. Is has never been a problem to change our ressies and we have done so many time. However, I know rules have changed regarding booking an AP room, so research that thoroughly beforehand. As for December 2006 being completely booked, that frequently happens during the holiday season. My experience shows it is nothing unusual.

Good Luck!

You will love the Lodge! :cool1:

Thanks for the reply. I am having a hard time paying the current rate, which is why I am waiting. We will have to stay moderate if the price does not go down. I am glad to hear it is only December that is booked.

Hello,

I am going to rent a crib from A Baby's Best Friend for our upcoming trip to the WL. For those that have stayed there before - is there enough room for a full size crib instead of a pack-n-play or are we going to be really cramped? It will be me, dh, ds(4) and ds(1).

Thanks!

okay, i know this is a WL lodge thread so the majority is going 2 choose WL, but i was wondering if anyone has been to both and list the pros and cons of each...i love WL a lot....we have been 2 WL probaly about 5 times, but that was at least 5 years ago....now we have a chance to go back, but my family thinks that we should try something new.... i know its not all up 2 me and i should compromise, but im afraid im going 2 be really dissapointed with akl...also is the bus factor at AKL a pain? i would appreciate any opinoins....also we would be staying at a standard view at both resorts.
Thanks a lot

Without knowing what type of room you requested, if any, a full sized crib in a 2 queen room will unfortunatly be cramping your style. When our son was 1, we used the WL supplied crib( the play crib style) and things worked out fine. Obviously the desision is yours but I would recommend against it.

Now if you have a king bed in your room, that's different, but then your other little one would be sleeping with you.

Hope this helps, enjoy your stay.

We'll be there in April for stay #14 since 1994!!!!

I changed my ressie today from CBR back to the WL. The reason I switched in the first place was because of the quiet pools and food court. DH has been wanting to stay at the WL for years and I really like the idea of staying someplace new so I switched us back.
My DD is so excited about the EWP. I think the pool and Roaring Forks will suite us just fine and I like the transportation options more.
I booked a standard view and requested non-smoking.
We visited once years ago to have breakfast at Artist Point with Winnie the Pooh. I don't even know if they still do that. We thought the Lodge was beautiful. We're really looking forward to staying here.

NORTH BUILDING, WING A: Outside is all Standard View overlooking the service area parking lot. This is where all deliveries are being made to the Lodge. This would work if you are only in the room to sleep. During the day there is a lot of activity of trucks making deliveries. The view is not distasteful; it’s the truck traffic during the day.
Inside rooms are Courtyard View in the general vicinity of the Waterfalls.

I booked a standard view so does that mean I'll definitely be in North Building A? Looking at the resort map that looks like a location we'd be happy with, although we'll be happy in any section. :)

They also have standard view rooms on the South side of the Lodge above the Lobby. You can always call back and request North side of the building the room assigners are great about trying to meet your request.

Have a GREAT TRIP :paw:

We visited WLodge on our trip in December and my dh said, "Next time we come we are staying HERE!" so I'm in the early planning stages. I do have a question about the bunk beds... what are the chances of getting them and how big are they?
