The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY! Part 2

The crowds were probably due to the Veteran's Day holiday. Our kids had a couple of extra days off from school for a mini break so I'm thinking that maybe other areas do this as well.

I can understand what you were saying about the noise. I think how much outside noise you hear is quite subjective and certainly depends on how much noise you have around you at home. We live in the country, pretty far back on a quiet road. I'm sure my family will notice a lot more noise at night than someone who comes from a much busier area.

GREAT POINT :goodvibes . Now we thought it was so quiet we felt that we had to whisper all the time. :lmao:

HI all! We are staying at WL at the end of Jan and I'm wondering if I should make a room request. We are booked in a standard room. any suggestions? We prefer quiet and would love a balcony.

We just returned from 4 Wonderful nights at WL.

We LOVED almost everything about it! It is the first time in Disney that I have said, I want to come HERE again!! Usually I think, ok, next time, lets try.... (name the resort).

We had a balcony room, 3125 - facing the lake. It was a strange room, in that the balcony was actually a stone wall - instead of railings. This was wierd, in that we couldnt sit there and see the lake, but was ok with my two year old.

We did not find the noise to be that bad - probably because we were removed from it just enough. We could see the increase in the crowds from Thursday to Sunday - Sunday was packed!

I loved the feeling of the resort - having one building to me made the difference. It felt more like home to me. I loved the lobby, the walkways, the ducks and bunnies, the little touches.

The ONLY disappointment, however, was the Roaring Forks food court. Very limited selection and very slow service. It would have been nice for them to rotate the kids meals offerings daily.

I cannot wait to stay at WL again!

This is my first post here on the boards but I have been a reader for several months. I am so impressed with all that you all know! So I was hoping I could get a little advice. We will be staying at WL for the first time next month:cool1: . I'm trying to figure out our room request and have questions. Can someone tell me about the lighted parade on the lake? Does this take place each night? Can you see it from some of the rooms, if so which rooms?
Also, can anyone confirm that to see the Wishes fireworks from your room, you need to be in the north bldg, woodsview, upper floor. Last but not least, do any of the rooms offer a view of the lake & the fireworks? Our AAA TA said we were upgraded to a courtyard room @ a woods view price but I'm not sure that's a good move if we want to see fireworks from our room. Sorry for all the questions, but I would greatly appreciate any help. THANK YOU.

You are not guarenteed a view of the fireworks no matter what - actually, there are so many trees that I believe relatively few rooms can actually see any fireworks. I think a courtyard view would have a much better chance of seeing the electrical water pageant.

Ok - so heres our story. May 07 we were booked to stay at VWL (1 bedroom) for our family of 5 (2A, 3C - one under 3) and we were so excited. Well 2 days before we left DD4 gets sick so we decide to postpone until October. Kids were so upset not to mention me! Well there were no one bedrooms availible for October so we selected the Poly. We enjoyed our stay very much at the Poly and wanted to visit the WL but we ran out of time.

So we get home last month and I start dreaming of our next trip. DH wants to try the WL next time(2009) so I go online to check prices for 2008 just to get a ballpark figure, etc. Well we should have booked a regular room in October because for us to stay at WL the next time it would have to be the deluxe room or a 2 bedroom villa. Wow - sticker shock but it isn't deterring us from trying the WL.

So to make a long story short I've read what I can find on Deluxe rooms - I know they sleep 6, are concierge and have woodland or courtyard views. They seem to be located on each level so here comes my question. I know its very wooded at the WL (makes sense to me), in your opinion what floor of the lodge can we get a fairly good view? Just a good view not necessarily of the fireworks or MK just nice. I'm thinking 4th or 5th floor - I know there are no guarantees. Thanks for any opinions and any additional info. Seems like the WL has its effect on us already and we haven't even been there yet ;). Hoping we can save enough money to stay there. I may even check into renting points for VWL but am concerned as we have to positive in our dates & w/3 kids anything can happen! Thanks as always!

Joanne

Oh - Happy Thanksgiving!

We have fallen way to far down the list of posts! Nobody has posted on here since Thanksgiving. That is horriable!!!

I'll give it a bump! Patiently (or not) waiting for our next visit to the Lodge in May, our 4th stay there and can't wait! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Hi folks!
We're 7 days from checkin! Can someone remind me about coffee makers.
How many cups do they hold?
Basket or cone filters?
What kind of creamer and sweetener is in the room?

Also, all rooms have fridges, but no microwaves, correct?

Finally, refillable mugs are for soda, coffee, hot tea and chocolate, correct? But I assume not for milk.

Can hardly wait.

From what we had in July:

4 cup coffee maker with a basket
Just generic creamer with sugar, and some non sugar sweetener
There is a fridge, but no microwave
The mugs are for all you mentioned, but I'm not sure about milk.

Please give me some reassurance. I'm getting nervous reading about the bad experiences people are having with the bus service. Is it really that bad?

I already asked this over on the cake thread on the restaurant board, but I figured I'd ask here too since y'all are the WL experts.

Has anyone ordered a custom cake to be delivered to a room at WL? Does anyone know what the flavor/filling/frosting options are?

Only 52 more days until DS's birthday trip to the Lodge! :)

People write about bad bus service all the time, but we've stayed at WL twice, and have never found the bus service lacking. Don't get nervous, just have fun! :thumbsup2

Thank you. I can buy my coffee now. :)

Regarding bus service, I find it interesting that people who are complaining seem to find a 1 hour transfer including wait time unreasonable (and this seems to be on routes with multiple stops, too). While I agree that faster would be better, I think most DISers who want a low stress vacation plan for those 1 hour trips to and from the hotel (or at least 45min). Any research I've done on this and other sites usually recommends to budget an hour. That's what we do, and I'm crossing my fingers that we'll be satisfied.

We do the same, and just purchase a small carton of milk in the gift shop to put in the 'fridge. :thumbsup2

I don't think any place we used the bus was over a 45 min. from the time we arrived at the bus stop 'till we stepped off at our final destination. I think the longest we waited was at DTD, and even then there was a driver who had nobody to pick up for the Contempory, so he picked us up! I think we used a cab once, and thatwas to go from WL to BC for dinner at the Yahtsman.

only 15 more days! only 15 more days! ONLY 15 MORE DAYS!!!!

I am so stinking excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

When we went in May of last year we did have one REAL problem. We had to wait over 1/2 hour for the bus to EPCOT. All of the buses had passed once and the MK bus passed twice. Someone at the stop had made a complaint and a bus showed up within a few minutes. Other than that there was nothing to complain about.

My family currently has reservations for Coronado Springs for May, but my husband hates the idea of relying solely on bus transportation, especially at park closing time. I suggested WL, but before we decide, he has a few questions.

WL has a bus that goes to and from the TTC, correct? When we are at EPCOT at closing, would we be able to take the monorail to the TTC and then a bus back to the WL?

Also, how much bus sharing do we do with other resorts? It seems there is a different answer at everywhere I read.

Thanks!
