The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY! Part 2

WL Team,

You people are good. Here's my question: I recently read on another site that WL will no longer accept faxes to the room assigner as of July 2006. It says your only option is to get your requests in through the CRO. is this true? Anyone know if their faxes were accepted and used by the WL room assigner since July 2006? I'm freaked out because I was a bit haphazard in my requests with the CRO, thinking I'd be able to send a strategically worded fax a few days prior to arrival.

I await your responses with great anticipation.

Thanks!!!

WL (or any other WDW resort) does not accept fax requests for specific rooms. You say that you were haphazard in your room request through CRO. Here's my suggestion. Throw out there to all the WL experts just what type of room you'd prefer, I bet you they even come up with a specific room number for you. THEN call CRO and update your request. No biggie. Oh, and by the way.....

:welcome: to the DIS! :goodvibes

What time does the first boat start making the trip to the CR? :santa:

Thank you for all the help with my questions. You all are wonderful! I think I'm going to downgrade to a woodsview room to save a little extra cash and splurge on something special. Maybe a Christmas tree in our room! ;)

I can't wait to see everyone's Christmas pictures at the Lodge. Thanks again! :goodvibes

Thanks for the welcome. This is freakin cool.

I have a courtyard view booked. It's a wedding anniversary. So we're going for romantic and fairly quiet (we're light sleepers), but nice view for sitting on balcony with wine after a day at the parks might be nice. Long walk to lobby is not an issue. When I called the CRO long ago, I think I mentioned romantic occasion, asked for King bed, high floor, quiet room, lake view. so here are my follow up questions:

1. Just to clarify: no faxes on specific room numbers, or no faxes on room assignment requests at all?
2. do you know if South building "B" at the end of the hall (rooms x167-x168) are courtyard view? at the beginning of this FAQ, it says all are suites, but the room map appears to say they are courtyard.
3. I've read the King beds are mainly disabled-accessible, so on ground floor and close to lobby. anyone out there had a king bed other than ground floor (or the one on 6th floor over Whispering Canyon)? I'm thinking king bed equals no view, ground floor, noisy area.
4. do they ever give free upgrades from courtyard to honeymoon suites? How is a honeymoon suite different than a regular room?

thanks again!!

The disabled rooms also equal no bath tub if that is important. They only have showers. They had us booked into one last visit and I had to ask thme to move us due to the toddler.

I just printed this info from the first page yesterday and it says that the Blue Flag boat hours of operation are 7am to 10 pm.

Thanks for the info. We have a 7:30 reservation at the CR and wanted to take the boat if we could.:santa:

We've stayed at the Wilderness Lodge many times, the last several times we've gone just before (or during) Christmas week. Many years ago I learned on AllEarsNet or RADP to call 5 days before you're due to check in.

Call the resort directly (rather than CRO), the # is on the back of your reservation (I also believe AllEarsNet has the phone #s for each resort). Whenever I've called, I've asked to make a room request for our upcoming stay and they transfer me to the appropriate person. I then indicate my preferences, usually limiting it to only 1-2 things such as a particular view and possibly a specific floor. One time we indicated a specific room # and we were able to get it. They can't always arrange for your exact request but they'll try their best to get as close as possible to what you ask for.

Well just got on line and found that there were Woods Bunk available so I downgraded. We wanted to try and get a north wing view if possiable. So now just waiting til the time period to request a room! Crossing fingers!

Oh and got my green mickey ears to pin on us and one to put on our door at HOme Depot this morning! LOL Wasn't quite sure the shade but if you are a Disser you know what it means anyway Right!

I had to share my excitement with folks who can understand and appreciate it to its fullest  We were booked for WL in Jan w/woods view...DH was injured and had surgery in Aug, had to downgrade to CBR. Now, DH says he wants his WL room back and insists we stay at the WL :cool1: We already had our AAA TA change the ressies once, but she gets paid, so I guess we're gonna make her change them again! When I went online to check availability, the only rooms were courtyard view with and w/o bunkbeds...We've only stayed there once before in a woods view, how much are we going to like the courtyard view? I wonder why it is so booked the week we're going, we check in the day before MLK holiday, and it does appear that a lot of people are checking out on MLK day. We hope to get a room booked today :woohoo: I'm so excited :goodvibes

I started packing some today and just had to share my excitement as my first thrip to WL is getting closer!!!:thumbsup2 :santa:

So who all is spending Thanksgiving at the Lodge??? We arrive late on November 21 and are there until November 27th. Can't wait!!!

Missy, thank you! I will try a phone call.

Julie, yes, I knew about the lack of bathtub. Shower is fine. Thanks for your help.

We'll be at the lodge on the 17th through the 24th. Looking forward to dinner with the mouse.:thumbsup2

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I've noticed some references to standard WL rooms being over the "smokehouse". What does this mean exactly? Is this really a smokehouse for cooking food or is it just the name for something else? Can fumes be smelled in the rooms? We are currently booked with a standard view for our next trip. We don't care much about the view itself, but my DH has asthma and can't be breathing smoke all night, do I need to make a special request to be away from this area?

Thanks!

We have courtyard w/bunks and I requested north side, so maybe we'll be neighbors! I'll keep my eyes out for your mickey head. Hmm... Maybe I need one for my door too....

:woohoo: 22 days!! :woohoo:

OMG!!! 15 days! I don't have time for Thanksgiving and all that cooking . . . I need to pack! So excited
