Very useful and informative. Thank you for your hard work and to all the others who have helped create this thread for those of us visiting WL.

Troop o' Goofs, WELCOME  I'm still a rookie around here but there are a bunch of us who love to chat about the WL.

Thanks for the Welcome.

My wife and I stayed at the WL for half our stay for our honeymoon 10 years ago and loved it. We decided to stay again for our kids first visit this year. I think I am more excited than they are.

I'm just checkin' my ticker. I am sooo happy that I stuck with WL instead of switching to AKL now that there are so many changes going on over there. Question, our flight arrives around 2:00. How long will it take to get from MCO to WL and any suggestions for the first night?

I agree with tiggrbaby. BTW, I may have to change my avatar. First glance made me think I'd already posted a reply to you.

How long from MCO to WL? If you're using ME, I can help. Our flight landed at 11 AM. Monorail to terminal, walked to ME, got a combined bus between CR, GF, and WL. We were first bus stop and were checked-in by 12:30 or so. We ate a quick lunch at Roaring Forks and caught the boat to MK.

I don't know if anybody caught this Travel Channel show the other night, but it was about 'Old Faithful Inn' resort at Yellowstone National Park and it looked exactly-well almost exactly- like WL! Is that what WL is modeled after?

The last 2 times we took ME, WL was the first stop. FlashScout is right - it is about and hour to hour and a half to the resort. MK is a great way to start off vacation!!!

I was thinking about a quick dip in the pool and a bus to DTD since we have ADR's at WCC another night. I would love to get to know the lodge and pulling up a chair on the beach sounds like the perfect end to the evening.

1 1/2 hours from touchdown to check in :cool1: Plenty of time to get some things done!!

I would guess so, but don't know for sure. I saw that program a few days ago and the similarity (external front of the building, at least) struck me too! Disney does SUCH a good job with the details!

Glad you had a magical stay at WL. We got the same upgrade as you on our trip in 2003. We actually booked Woods view and they upgraded us to courtyard villas view :rolleyes1 needlass to say I would have rather had the woodsview because of the long walk. If they gave me the main courtyard that would have been alright though.

You sound like me. I prefer the woodsview rooms. At least the ones I have had, have both been convenient to the elevators and roaring forks. They are also not a far walk to the boat launch either. Last year we had a bottom floor and it was quite peaceful.

For a Woods View room with a possible view of the Magic Kingdom, Wishes fireworks and non smoking. I request 5th floor, North Wing near the elevator, over looking the Otter pond. The room assigner will then know exactly where you would like too be located.

Does 5th floor have the enclosed balcony?
How many floors are on the north wing?

Sorry for previous post did the quote thing wrong

How would you get from WL to the boardwalk without entering a park? We thought of visiting the boardwalk on our first night but have only visited from Epcot park and we walked. Would we have to enter Epcot to walk to the boardwalk? We don't want to go to Epcot this day, just the boardwalk.

The easiest thing to do would be to take a bus (or boat) to MK and then take the bus directly to the Boardwalk. We did this last year from GF going to the Beach Club for an ADR. I have found that the bus trip from WL to MK is actually quicker than the boat.

stepdisney: Another way to do it (maybe not quite as fast) would be take the bus to Disney/MGM Studios, then ride the boat or walk to the boardwalk. We rode the boat because we were hot and the kiddoes were tired, but I think walking is faster because the boat is verrry slow and it stops at the Swan/Dolphin first. That was OK with us since we were trying to go play minigolf behind the Swan.

Thanks Tinkerbell. I forgot about taking the bus from MK. We had ADR's at Spoodles one night and I'll need it again. Do you know if I can do this even on the nights MK closes early for PPP or Night of Joy since both will be going on while we are visiting. I'll be able to take the bus back to MK even if I don't have a ticket to Night of Joy right? Thanks for the info.:flower3:

Is the boat close to the bus drop-off? I would love to take the boat and my DS's would consider it another ride. :) It is fun when the transportation is fun and relaxing. We may do this the first night because we don't have ADR's to worry about. It may not work on the night we have Spoodles because it would take too much time. Thanks for the info. :flower3:

From the resort bus drop-off at DS you walk right past the short path to the boat on your way to the entrance. Just follow the railing around the water and you get there. It's definitely relaxing and a neat way to see the Boardwalk all lit up at night.

So is there still the bus from WL to the MK? I hope so! We used it more than the boat!

I have a question for you WL vets...I called and made our December ressies yday, and woodsview is all booked! I was so sad, that is what I was counting on, so now I have courtyard view. My question is what is the best area to request??? I don't want to be too far from lobby and all, we are both pretty deep sleepers so I am not TOO worried about noise. My DF is also obsessed w/the water parade, so do many of the rooms have a view of this?? Thanks for any suggestions!

One option would ask for north wing, near lobby. That would also put you a quick elevator ride away from Roaring Fork.
