Oh, jeez, the cow bells. I hate the cow bells. The one and only thing I dislike. If you have kids, you might want to think twice before encouraging them to swat the cow bells. EVERY day. Coming AND going. I hate the cow bells.

"I have a fever, and the only prescription is MORE COWBELL!!" :rotfl2:

Exactly what I was talking about! Thanks for confirming this!

You're welcome. I hope to go to visit Yellowstone someday our maybe go to Yoesmite... I've never done any of the National Parks out west. The WL puts you in the mood for the great northwest :)

Oh no, I'm sorry! We just kept seeing people do it on the way to and from the bus every day. We just thought it was one of those WL traditions. I was exaggerating, we didn't do it that much. My kids are older, we really didn't swat, just lightly pushed and not everytime. We won't do it again now, if it bothers you that much. Thanks for the tip

I didn't mean for you to take it personal!:scared: I was referring to my own DD who was 9 at the time. DH encouraged her to do it the first time! That's all it took. EVERY time we were coming or going to the bus stop....COW BELLS. Add the other children, tweens, teens and adults (DH) swatting them and it just REALLY got on my nerves. Especially if I was kinda headachey after a long day. But, it only lasts as long as you can walk by them so it's not like it's a prolonged attack on my nerves. How dare I deny anyone the cow bell experience?! I was just voicing my annoyance with them. I would never tell someone to leave them alone. Obviously, they want folks to do it or they wouldn't be functional. Go! Enjoy those cow bells! I'll get over it.:thumbsup2

where are the cow bells at?:santa:

As you go out the doors heading toward the Bus Stop you'll pass Buttons and Bells Arcade on your right. They're right there. Folks find it extremely difficult to walk by them without reaching out and smackin' 'em. Go ahead! You KNOW you'll want to, too!;)

:goodvibes Thanks DLBDS! Sorry, I was a bit on the sensitive side last night. I thought you were annoyed with me.

I wasn't quite sure if this was a special WL tradition or not. All I knew that everyone kept doing it and I'm definately a follower, ask my hubby. I always wanted to be in the in crowd! :rotfl:

I've been to WL twice, and I didn't know about the cow bells!!!:lmao:
Not tellin' my kids about them! :teeth:

I've never been there yet, but have read the first few pages of this thread along with following it for the past 3 months or so and this is the first I've heard of them too. i think I'll be steering my kids away from there, too. Maybe I'll let them ring one the day we leave....:rolleyes1

It's hard to miss them if you walk from the lobby to the bus stop. Hey, I rang 'em a few times. Of course, I went to Miss. State so I've got a big cowbell at home welded to a piece of rebar. "Don't fear the Reaper", indeed!

Just returned from a 7 night stay at the lodge. It was beautiful. I got exactly the view I requested. Rm 4161. It was a courtyard view at the end of one of the wings so it had a great view of the entire inner courtyard and the lake. Only disadvantage to the room was the long walk to the elevator/lobby. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Did you pay for the courtyard view or was it an upgrade at check-in?? I really want a courtyard view but can't seem to justify the price difference...I'm praying to the WL Vet Gods for an upgrade at check in! :flower3:

Yes, we paid for the courtyard view, but we were able to get an awesome price on our package with a code I found here on the DIS a while ago. We paid $4200 for 4 adults for a 7 night courtyard view stay with 8day hoppers and water park tickets plus the dining plan.

Just a quick question. We are leaving on the 4th for our annual visit to the Lodge. Needless to say, I can't wait! I do have a question about Flag Family however-- is it still available? I have heard conflicting reports and knew I could get the answer here!

TIA

I just received an email back from IPO regarding Flag Family. It is still available upon request at check-in.
Enjoy your trip. :)

This is a wonderful thread! Thanks so much to those of you who have shared your knowledge of everything WL! We are booked for 12/8-12/14 courtyard view and my kids are very excited about the bunkbeds. I feel so much more prepared after reading this thread.

Just back from WL and loved it. I loved my standard veiw room. Had a little noise outside but not much. It was worth it to see the fireworks every night from our balcony. Fireworks on the 4th even better got to see them on the 3rd and 4th. I think the bartenders at WL are the best. They allways remembered what you were drinking from night to night and made you feel at home. We met some very nice people during our stay at WL. I should say my dw did while at the pool. My room number was 4062.

You all brought me out of lurking mode...
Sorry!!!!

What was the noise outside, trucks? What time of day? We have std room and DH is very sensitive to noise while he is sleeping. I've requested North tower floor 5 or 6 (sounds similar to where you were)

Thanks!
