So is there still the bus from WL to the MK? I hope so! We used it more than the boat!

Yep! Didn't ride it but it still pulls up to the #1 spot at MK.

I have a question for you WL vets...I called and made our December ressies yday, and woodsview is all booked! I was so sad, that is what I was counting on, so now I have courtyard view. My question is what is the best area to request??? I don't want to be too far from lobby and all, we are both pretty deep sleepers so I am not TOO worried about noise. My DF is also obsessed w/the water parade, so do many of the rooms have a view of this?? Thanks for any suggestions!

Hmmm... near the lobby, deep sleepers, view of water parade. Ransom is right - north wing upper courtyard. We were in 4049 and were halfway between the lobby and the elevators to Roaring Forks. Our view of the water parade was partial - the floats in the back couldn't be seen. It was easy to just walk down to the geyser or beach to see it all. I would imagine that the "bear face" rooms - i.e., east facing rooms in the lobby would give you a better view. The compromise is whether the closeness to the lobby or the water parade is more important. Inner courtyard views facing Silver Springs pool give you a better water parade view but are more of a hike to the lobby.

There are trade-offs no matter what. Don't let it spoil your trip because you don't end up with the exact room you want.

Thanks Tinkerbell. I forgot about taking the bus from MK. We had ADR's at Spoodles one night and I'll need it again. Do you know if I can do this even on the nights MK closes early for PPP or Night of Joy since both will be going on while we are visiting. I'll be able to take the bus back to MK even if I don't have a ticket to Night of Joy right? Thanks for the info.:flower3:

Hi stepdisney, we used the bus to MK on PPP nights without having a ticket without problems. I think it would be the same for Night of Joy as it is just another hard ticket event. It is actually a great way to use the transportation system between resorts in the evening: pick a park that is open late for your transfer point to avoid DD! Have a great trip!

I don't know if anybody caught this Travel Channel show the other night, but it was about 'Old Faithful Inn' resort at Yellowstone National Park and it looked exactly-well almost exactly- like WL! Is that what WL is modeled after?

The WL was modeled after the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone.

Here is a picture of outside the Inn showing the gyser...

Here is a picture of the Inn's fireplace...does it look familiar???

Exactly what I was talking about! Thanks for confirming this!

We leave for WDW tomorrow afternoon and I'm soooo excited to finally check out the Lodge! Big thanks to everyone on this thread for all the info and tips. We're going to have a magical time, I just know it!:wizard:

Yes, you won't need the ticket for PPP or NOJ until you go to the turnstiles. Since you remain at the bus stop and the buses are running, you'll have no trouble.

Is the boat close to the bus drop-off? I would love to take the boat and my DS's would consider it another ride. :) It is fun when the transportation is fun and relaxing. We may do this the first night because we don't have ADR's to worry about. It may not work on the night we have Spoodles because it would take too much time. Thanks for the info. :flower3:

It is set up similar to MK. If you're facing the entrance plaza to MGM, the buses are on the far left (where the monorail would be at MK) and the boats are on the far right, down a path (similar to the MK bus station location). All of this is outside the MGM gates. Yes, it is close, but only by WDW standards.

If you walk from MGM, you walk past the boats and reach the Boardwalk prior to the other hotels (arriving near Atlantic Dance). But with the boat you are stop number 2.

So, when we first walk in, we all rub Humprhey's nose, or pat it??? Trying to get the ritual for good luck correct! I wanna free upgrade. . .:)

Then ask for flag family. . . it's coming soon for me!

Does anyone in this thread that has been to WL LOVE the WL but hate the "great outdoors?"

I have ressies for september, and I was pretty excited at first to be staying at the WL, but now i'm a bit worried about the theme because i'm the total opposite of someone who likes the wilderness and the great outdoors. Any thoughts??

I am sooooo not the outdoorsy type and yet I love the Lodge!!! Not to worry, it is a rather posh outdoorsy place.

Me again with 1 more question. I looked at the map on page 1, thanks again FlashScout. If I'm reading the map correctly, is it possible to have a woodsview and the door you walk out of to leave your room gives you a lobby view? Am I correct? If I am, how would I request one of those rooms?

Yes there are Wood Views located off the main Lobby located on floors 4, 5 and 6. You should request Woods View North side off Lobby.

I'm trying to keep all this information straight because we've never stayed at WL. This description of woods view sounds the same as the standard view rooms that overlook the smokehouse. Are the woods view and standard view rooms randomly assigned in this area. It sounds like a nice view if you can see the castle. Can someone straighten me out?

I am soooo glad you asked this question. This will be our first visit. My DH and DS love the outdoorsy thing but I ......well lets say this is a stretch for me. I have heard that it is cozy and I love cozy. When are you going in September?

The rooms overlooking the smokehouse/loading dock etc are standard view rooms. After you pass 5042 (?) the hall takes a left turn goes about 30 feet and then turns right. After that right turn you start with rooms again and these are the woods view rooms. Also after that right turn is the elevator which drops you off right outside the roaring forks, laundry, and pool doors.

Humphrey is a bit father away outside the Merchantile. Just walk up to the counter and pray for pixie dust. We asked and were happily selected for flag family honors, but it was only available near the end of our vacation. Had we been staying only a week, we wouldn't have had a chance. We like to give Humphrey's nose a little rub on our way to the parks in the morning, just to keep the luck flowing. The five year old also liked to swat the cow bells...

We'll be there Sept. 4-12th, how about you? :cool1:

We did the same thing every morning. We love rubbing Humphrey's nose. It's such a fun little ritual, all part of the magic if you ask me!

Hello to all you WL lovers! Come September, I'll begin planning our next magical trip to the WL. We're looking at Sept. 2008! We fell in love with the Lodge our last trip and will never stay anywhere else. We were pixie dusted so much that week, from being chosen Flag Family, upgraded rooms and towel animals every day. It's the most beautiful hotel I've ever seen and 2008 can't get here fast enough! Thanks again for this wonderful thread and information.:goodvibes

Oh, jeez, the cow bells. I hate the cow bells. The one and only thing I dislike. If you have kids, you might want to think twice before encouraging them to swat the cow bells. EVERY day. Coming AND going. I hate the cow bells.

Oh no, I'm sorry! We just kept seeing people do it on the way to and from the bus every day. We just thought it was one of those WL traditions. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks Flossbolna. I have so many ADR's I'll be an expert on transportation by the time I return from my trip.

This is so good to know since there is so much going on during our visit. We have lots of ADR's :cloud9: .

We'll be there Aug. 30-Sept 8. We'll leave a light on for ya!:)
