Just back from the Lodge 6/24 through 6/30! Room 6157 - inner courtyard view facing the pool! Love the Wilderness Lodge!! Any questions?

Lisa

Welcome back...glad you loved it:)
How was the pool area? Did you have to save loungers, etc?? How was the boat transportation?
What is your most memorable, magical moment at the Lodge?? :)

When are you going back??? lol

Okay I was going to try to read all 400+ pages of the thread, but I gave up. And the search this thread function never works for me. I have a few questions:

Has anyone stayed in ctyd view rooms that connected? Do you remember the room numbers? What is the best way to go about requesting certain room types at WL?

Any and all information about the Health Club at Wilderness Lodge would be helpful. How big is it? What does it offer? Is the sauna co-ed, or in the locker rooms? Is there a spa here as well? How busy is it? Thanks for the information!

Okay, I have a question. If you are going to WDW for vacation, your going to be walking miles and miles. Why in the world would you want to go to a health club and workout?:confused3 I can understand going for a sauna or to the spa, but to workout!:rotfl2: I'M ON VACATION!!!!!:dance3:

Hope you don't take offense - we tease a bit around here. I wish I could help with the Health Club - I peeked in on a rainy afternoon and saw a variety of workout equipment, but didn't take note of what. DW did notice that massage prices started at $65 so she decided I could massage her cheaper in the room. I'll ask her if she remembers what else is offered. We walked and swam so much additional working out was not appealing to us.

kabbie: I was hoping someone else would have answered by now about the courtyard view connecting rooms because I don't know that answer specifically. If you are booking two rooms, I would suggest you tell the CM or agent that you want connecting rooms.

As far as asking for certain room types, just specify "courtyard North Wing" or "courtyard upper floors" or whatever you want. If you could be more specific about your needs - view, bunkbeds, location, floor - we could help more.

As for us we just booked a standard room - magic happened - and we got 4049 - North Wing upper courtyard halfway between the lobby and Roaring Forks. Couldn't have asked for better.

Hi, does anyone know approximately how much of a difference per night it is between a std view room and the courtyard view room? I just wanted an idea. Thanks!

Typically $55-60 a night based on the published (rack) rates, but it depends on what season, what discounts are available, etc. For instance, there's a new code out for August that reduced the standard view rate by $75/night, and comparable for courtyard.

Thanks!:goodvibes That gives me a general idea. Right now we are booked in a std view room for the last week in Jan. 2008. Once the pkg rates become available, I was considering upgrading to a courtyard view. I guess I will wait to see if any future deals become available on the rates, because I think that might be a little bit too much for us right now, for the difference in the rate.

Thank you FlashScout! I appreciate any and all input! CRO assigned our group a Travel With number and it's on our reservations for the Connecting Rooms Requested. So I am crossing my fingers. I would like an upper floor near the elevators but I know not to press my luck.

Haven't been on in a bit. I have read the last 7 pages to catch up.

Whoever is in charge of it, (my memory is short) could we see an updated list of who is going in October?

Thanks,
Mel

I'm just checkin' my ticker. I am sooo happy that I stuck with WL instead of switching to AKL now that there are so many changes going on over there. Question, our flight arrives around 2:00. How long will it take to get from MCO to WL and any suggestions for the first night?

I AM VERY EXCITED!!

If you aren't doing a park the first night, I would suggest taking the afternoon to really get to know the Lodge, then a dinner ADR at Whispering Canyon Cafe, and finally pull up a lounge chair on the beach at night to watch the Electric Water Pagent before bedtime.

You will have a wonderful time, and can still get dining ADRs if you want to spend time at the AKL.

We just returned today from 8 wonderful nights at WL. It was our second visit and just as magical as the first. We received a complimentary upgrade from Standard to Courtyard when we checked in and had a nice view of the Villas pool. The only downside to our location was the LONG walk to Roaring Forks. We were in room 4154.

The lodge was great. We had to make an unexpected visit to Urgent Care in the middle of the week for my 7 yr old DD - high fever, ended up being strep throat. They were great in helping us get the transportation and all the information we needed.

I'm hoping to start a trip report soon, but ask any questions. I would love to answer. We used all the available transportation and never had any problems. We visited all of the monorail resorts for meals and that worked very well also!

It was hot, but the midday breaks definitely helped us.

I miss it already!

Glad you had a magical stay at WL. We got the same upgrade as you on our trip in 2003. We actually booked Woods view and they upgraded us to courtyard villas view :rolleyes1 needlass to say I would have rather had the woodsview because of the long walk. If they gave me the main courtyard that would have been alright though.
