I'd choose the studio if I didn't need the second bed. Since there's a sofa-bed where the second queen bed would be in a regular room, the room feels much bigger.

I will need the sofa bed - it will be myself and my 3 youngest girls traveling. That is one of the reasons I am hesitant as if we use the sofa we really aren't saving any room. We do however get the microwave but then again, I don't know how much we will eat in the room other than breakfast and snacks.

Thanks for the replies so far - anyone else

How much is the price difference? What if you did a 1br Villa?

I was thinking of renting DVC points for the studio and that is doable - however a 1BR will be out of the ball park either way.

One other thing with renting points is that you do not get daily mousekeeping - with an 8 day stay, I think daily mousekeeping could help us stay organized.

It's just making the decision, sticking with it and moving ahead - decisions, decisions ......

How long is your stay for? I am a DVC Member and love the Villas, yet I also love the rooms @ the Lodge. :confused3

I would stay at the Villas. Breakfast for 4 @ WDW can easy run $20.00 a day so it can equal quite a savings. The Lodge rooms are approximately 340 square feet, while the Studio Villas are 356 square feet so the studio is larger. While the sofa bed will take up sq ft at night they fold back up in a minute and you'll have a large area to enjoy during your stay.

For 8 days the discount of renting from a DVC owner wouldn't be that great as Friday and Saturdays require more points per night. Also when are you planning on visiting your dates are very important when renting from a DVC member.

Example Stuido June 11-August 15 2007 = 14 points a night Sunday-Thursday, but the same Stuido is 32 points a night for Friday and Saturday so total points for a Sunday-Sunday stay you would need to rent 134 points for seven nights.

A One-Bedroom for the same days would be 270 points

MAGICinMYHEART - We are staying 8 nights. The kids are 10, 8 and 7.

For breakfast wherever we stay, we will plan on cereal or granola bars etc for breakfast in the room. We will plan on doing all dinners out and maybe some lunches or else will be a sandwich back in the room.

The girls are actually the ones that wanted to stay at Wilderness - they loved the look of the lodge and the lobby.

The one other thing I was worried about with the villas was by renting through a DVC owner, I feel like I give up a certain amount of "control" over my booking/reservation.

Have you ever rented your poínts?

OK so you would need to rent 126 points @ $10.00 a point (if you can rent them for $10.00) your total stay would be $1,260.00 I'm not sure what the 2008 rates will be for either the Lodge or the Villas going through CRO as the new prices haven't been posted yet. Using this year rates for value season a studio would cost $2,744.96 for the same number of days. Using this years rates value season for 8 nights in a Courtyard View room would be $2,431.00

It is true that by renting from a DVC Member you don't have any control. You must trust who you rent from 100%, because the owner will have all the control. I have never had enough points each year to rent so I use all that I have.

Hello,

I just booked the WL for three nights in August after a cruise. I booked a woods view, will this room be a room over the lobby? I'm concerned that those rooms maybe be noisey, are they? :)

I have stayed in both the Lodge and the Studio at WL & rented points from someone at OKW. First I don't have children, so my feedback is based on husband/wife team only.
We got upgraded to a studio when we stayed at the WL two nights on our honeymoon. THe following year we stayed in the lodge proper. & we have stayed in WL every trip (2 a year) over the last 5 years (except for two) I prefer the lodge as we used to reserve smoking rooms and they normally had great views of the MK fireworks. the view we had in our studio was just ok. Plus I liked the lodge as our room was close to the snack bar for the refillable mugs. Also, I am a pin trader and the pin cart is in the main lodge. The walk is shorter to the boat. The Lodge rooms have fridges, but not microwaves. Plus, have I mentioned that I    the Lodge??? :goodvibes
We rented points about 4 years ago. As mentioned previously the points are more expensive on the weekends, but I understand that Disney might be charging more for their rooms on the weekends. We did a lot of research on the boards to find someone with a good reputation and had not problems. I understand that some people have recently had some problems renting from unethical people, but I don't believe they followed the recommended guidelines on the DVC board. I enjoyed renting so much that I just purchased 200 points in AKLodge. :dance3: :yay: :woohoo: :dance3:
I am currently planning a trip for January & I need a 2 bedroom. My mom's first choice (the trip is for her) was the Boardwalk. However, we had decided if it was booked (it wasn't) her second choice & my first would be WL Lodge. :cloud9:

There are Wood View rooms located off the Lobby over Whispering Canyon Cafe, once the room door is closed I have never had a problem with noise.

There are also Wood View rooms located on the North and South side of the Lodge. The rooms on the North side that overlook the otter pond and may have a view of the Magic Kingdom with nightly viewings of Wishes fireworks. The Wood View rooms located on the South side of the Lodge overlook the Villas or roof peaks with trees in the distance.

We just returned today from 8 wonderful nights at WL. It was our second visit and just as magical as the first. We received a complimentary upgrade from Standard to Courtyard when we checked in and had a nice view of the Villas pool. The only downside to our location was the LONG walk to Roaring Forks. We were in room 4154.

The lodge was great. We had to make an unexpected visit to Urgent Care in the middle of the week for my 7 yr old DD - high fever, ended up being strep throat. They were great in helping us get the transportation and all the information we needed.

I'm hoping to start a trip report soon, but ask any questions. I would love to answer. We used all the available transportation and never had any problems. We visited all of the monorail resorts for meals and that worked very well also!

It was hot, but the midday breaks definitely helped us.

I miss it already!

waiting & waiting to hear back from IPO on a few things.... :sad2:

should it take days to answer an email? :( How long do you wait before writing back again (and again if necessary!)?

Welcome Back!
It sounds like you had a great trip, except for your DD's sickness.
We are staying at WL in May 2008 and I can't wait!:yay:
