We too take our laptop when ever we travel. Usually it is sitting out on the table or in our laptop case. We have never felt that someone would take it or mess with anything on it...Same with our cameras.
You could always lock up your laptop and other electronics in a suitcase during the day while your gone...

You have all put my mind at ease. When you stay in a hotel, you just are never really sure. You hear such terrible stories from other people. I am totally relieved that my laptop will be safe. Again, thanks alot.

I can offically say I AM BOOKED!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got off the phone booking a room only for 2007 with intentions of changing to a package when they come out.

We are booked from May 1 to May 11, woods view bunk bed room, with a request for north wing, upper level floor. I am hoping for the ability to see the castle and Wishes. We were at WL in 2005 in a standard room with bunk beds 6042 and loved to see Wishes from the balcony if we were back in the room early.

This trip has been in the making for awhile as we were to be there this last April/May, but needed to cancel as my father was diagnosed with cancer, unfortunately he lost his fight on June 15, 2006. So this return to WL will be bittersweet.

Hello - finally unpacked !

We can not wit till April 2007 to go back.

REHABS as of July 2nd - not done was floor 1 & 2 in the North Wing (the side closest to the boat transportation. We never walked around the South Wing.
I was also told the 7th floor rooms - conceirge have not been fully rehabed. We never can afford concierge, so not sure what they look like.

LAPTOPS/THINKPADS - we placed our's in it's thinkpad case and stored it in the closet (with the doors shut). We never had a problem.
You have to get an ETHERNET wire from the front desk to connect your thinkpad for an intenet connection. Call 56 (tech support) on your WL phone if you have questions or problems.

Roaring Forks - healthy snacks :goodvibes - they have carrots & celery cut up in conatainers, also green apple slices (throw away the carmel packet), garden salad and fruit cups. You can also get a sandwhich made to order.
Much better options than the burgers, pizza & fries.

Whisperping Canyon breakfast - we skipped the skillet (greasy) meal- Try the Belgian Waffles with fresh cut strawberries. Very delicious in the AM.

POOL WARNING - the pool is only cleaned in the AM around 6 AM. They do not use clorine, but a animal safe bromide product. I do not think it kills germs well enough. Plus people do not abide by the 9 am to 10 pm hours. People - adults and kids - were in the pool at 7 AM till midnight. There are no CM's who said anyhthing or did anything about it.
On day 1 - our kids went in the pool. They were sick the next day with a stomach virus. We saw a few other kids having a problem (vomiting). My guess the pool. We even overheard a life guard saying the pool needed to be cleaned. We did not use the pool again.

FLAG FAMILY - do not give up. When we arrived all our AM's were booked. So the CM placed us on a waiting list. We spent our last night in MK enjoyed Spectomagic from Tony's porch (great place to have a late dinner) and then the Wishes fireworks. One last ride on Buzz then boated back to WL.
The to our surprise, on our bed was a letter saying we were the flag family for the next morning :goodvibes
What a way to end an almost perfect (pool problems) week.
We had a great breakfast at Roaring Forks at 7:30 AM, then did the flag at 8:30 AM and our ride from Quick Silver to MCO was wating for us at 9:30 AM

We love the WL - everything about it except the pool cleanliness.

i hope they get the CL rooms done before we go in august. My DH really wants the flat screen tv
theat to bad about the pool
i usually swim in the quiet pool so maybe i will do that again
there was like no one it in

i dont wanna spend the week sick yuck

this is the first I've ever heard of the pool not being clean....

as far as the pools hours go...don't the life guards just go off duty at 10:00pm...but the pool stays open?

Yes..you can swim after the lifeguard leaves..but the slide closes..and I believe it's only open for an hour or so after the LG leaves..but not positive about that..we've never been out there past 11 or so. Also want to add..we take our laptop every year..we just lock it in our suitcase when we are not in the room. Never had a problem at all with anything being taken. I just make sure I put my jewelry and cash in the wall safe..especially jewelry..that is stuff that can never be replaced from a sentimental standpoint.

we also bring stuff like cameras and gameboys games
we were at pop last year and hasd no issues
we have never had anything taken
knock on wood

Anyone have any thoughts on the cleanliness of the pool. We use the resort pool daily, sometimes twice, and I always felt like Disney would be very picky about pool sanitation..... :confused3

I can assure everyone the pools at Wildernes Lodge are very clean...Yes they are cleaned every morning, they are also tested through out the day. If there are accidents the pools are closed then treated before they allow anyone back in the pool. (Accidents can and do happen.) Diaper-age children are required to wear swim diapers or rubber pants.

We just spent 8 days at the Lodge last month with seven children that lived in both pools all day, no one got sick or had any stomach problems.

Swimmer's aids are allowed in the shallow water. Life jackets are available for use at no charge at the Teton Boat and Bike Rental with a Resort ID card. (Children are allowed to use the slide with the lifejackets on)

The lifegaurds are usually on duty until 10:00pm when they leave the slide is closed. During slower times they go off duty at 9:00pm they work Seasonal hours. Pool hours are posted on an informational board located next to the lifegraud stands. Guest are allowed to swim after the lifegraurds go off duty, during our stay we could swim until 12:00am. For hours of operation, you may also check with the front desk.

thanks for the reply about the pool Beckie. Knowing the pool is very popular at the WL I would be surprised that it be dirty actually I would be surprised that any pool would be dirty at wdw

Beckie, I really appreciate the reassuring info on the pools. I can't wait until our August visit. When we visited WL in December 2004 I wasn't brave enough to join DH and DS in the pool (it was only about 72 degrees), so I am really looking forward to swimming in August!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

We were just there the 17th-22nd and, yes, the pools were available for swimming until midnight. I hadn't given it much thought beforehand as I thought the pools seemed clean enough (didn't give the cleanliness a thought while we were there). However, two of my kids (ages 2 and 6) had vomiting and stomach issues during the trip. At the time, I attributed it to the heat and our go-go-go pace. But, in all three instances (one had it two nights -- not consecutive) the sick child had spent a great deal of time in the pool the day preceding the afternoon/night sickness. However, my 4 year old didn't have any stomach issues and he would have lived in the pool if we would have let him.

Honestly at the time, I didn't feel the pools weren't clean and I enjoyed my time in them.

Those of you who have been to the renovated Roaring Forks, do they still have chicken fingers? Do you still order in one room and eat in the other?
Thanks

I also have to comment on the pools..every trip..I've never had a problem with them being clean. I'm a nurse and a resident germophobe :) The only thing that you have to put up with..are the beloved WL ducks who like to swim with you sometimes  But like I said..that pool there..is cleaner than my pool at home :rotfl: At least it was, as of last December when I went.

I would like to thank everyone on this thread for all of the information and posts. My wife, DD8, DD6 and myself will be staying for the first time at WL August 16 - 24 and are very excited. Perhaps we will have a chance to meet some of the "Lodgers" that post here on the Dis.

Hello!

How long does it take to walk from WL to FW? How long is the boat ride?

Thank you! :teeth:

The boat ride itself is less than 5 minutes, not long at all.

When we were there last week, we decided to walk back from FW to WL after our dinner at HDDR. It took us about 20 minutes to FIND the path (it is NOT well marked at FW's end at all) after several false starts, and then it took us about 20 minutes to walk it. I think our family walks at a pretty good pace, but we do have young kids who like to stop and examine pine cones, grass blades and anything else that strikes their fancy along the way.

But that will give you an estimate. The first part of the path (from FW) is paved, and then you cross a service road and it becomes mostly sand and dirt. Frankly I was disappointed in it, as I was expecting something more like the nice hiking trails we frequent.
