....:earseek: Walk?? Walk??!?!? WALK??!?!?!? Why walk :confused3 when you can :boat: ?? (but that's just ME...... :teeth: )

ha...Kimmar I agree. My family started out doing the walk to FW to see HDDR. After a few minutes of walking in the dirt and sand we said "what are we crazy." We quickly turned around and took the boat :earsboy:

...I think our family walks at a pretty good pace, but we do have young kids who like to stop and examine pine cones, grass blades and anything else that strikes their fancy along the way....

...at least they didn't stop to eat any BUGS!! :teeth:

So the boat that goes to FW is marked? I wont get confused with the boating system there will I.... well not on purpose!! :rolleyes1

Yes, down at the dock there are two sides to wait for a boat. There is a sign telling you where each one goes to, and if you don't see the sign the boat driver says where he is going!

You won't get lost! :wizard:

We are thinking about a deluxe room and have lots of questions! :confused3 Has anyone stayed recently in a Deluxe room? If so, how was it? Have any been refurbed? Are they large enough for 4 adults and 1 child? Does anyone know if you can add concierge services to a Deluxe room? If so, anyone know how much? Thanks for any help!

Hello, I'm new to these boards. I have gotten so much info just reading past posts, especially on this thread. Thank you to everyone!

DH and I are going to be visiting WDW the last week of August. (I only learned this week that I was going to get the time off, so we are definitely late in planning! I think that's making planning even more stressful since I feel like we have to get it exactly right NOW.) This is a very special and rare anniversary trip for us, and while we're stretching our budget a little we want to make sure we get the most for our money.

I have literally done hours and hours and HOURS of research already. Problem is, I have spent so much time reading and going over options in my mind that I am now completely and totally overwhelmed! I am in need some advice from veterans.

We want to stay at the WL in a standard room, for budget reasons. We want to make some special room requests (not guarantees, we know!). The view is minorly important but not our major concern. We just really want a balcony so we can sit outside, chat, and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. Mainly, we want a not-noisy balcony with something other than a loading dock to look at. I guess if I had to describe it we want a "nicely" located room. Of course, that's too subjective!

Now, my question is about how I should make my request. I have heard 7th floor rooms have a high railing on the balconies, so those are out since we want to be able to sit outside and look. What words would I use to ask for a "nice" location? Do I want to be more specific or more general? Any tips on what I should ask for or not ask for? What are the most important factors in having a "nice" location at WL, would you say?

 Obviously I am stressing about this. I want to make the most of our vacation but not be too demanding or obnoxious. Any advice you can offer about requesting a room or planning our first trip would be appreciated!

In case any of you are interested, the Travel Channel is airing Great Hotels - Disney's Wilderness Lodge on July 27 at 12:30 pm ET.

Hi,
My family just returned from WL and had a standard room. Our room did overlook the service area, but in the evening it was wonderful. We were on the 6th floor - room 6056 and the noise from below didn't bother us at all. We had a fabulous view of Wishes fireworks from the Magic Kingdom every night. The fireworks were at 10:00 every night and it was beautiful.

Our room had 2 queens. The balcony had two chairs and a table. The view below didn't bother us because we weren't in our room much during the day, and when nightfall came, the fireworks show was worth it!

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I hope you booked because standard rooms are the first to go. If you request northside the standard rooms overlook service areas. South facing rooms overlook the roofs of the covered bus walkway.

Let us know how you make out. My family will be ther Aug. 18th and I have been planning for months and still am overwhellemed.

I agree..the standards over the service area..it's not loud at night..even when the vehicles are there..you hear some "beeping" and stuff..but at night I found it quiet. Also, there is an area of trees there..so it's not like all you see is the service area..it is somewhat obstructed by the trees. The other side, the south wing, which is standard is not as nearly as pretty a view..you see the parking lot, the roof, and the bus stop. And I agree.. standard rooms do go first, so if you didn't book it already..call asap and do so..they may be already sold out. I also will be there end of August :)

Hm, thanks. Good to know! I was planning to call this morning and finalize. I had called last week and there was a standard available, but maybe it will be gone! We may be forced to upgrade...oh well! Any particular recommendations on what to ask for in the next level up?

If you get a "woods view" which is the next category up. Ask for the North Wing on an upper floor (you won't get 7th..as that is Concierge only). That will give you an evening view of the MK fireworks..and it will overlook the otter pond..it will give you all the quiet you were hoping for too! :goodvibes

Are there any standard view rooms on the North side that have a view of the Castle and/or fireworks? I will be booking a standard room and would like to have a view of the Castle however limited it may be. It's for my DD5 btw, not me.....or is it?!?!

Thanks :thumbsup2 I don't suppose you had a somewhat obscured view of the castle as well?

I was going to wait until the AP rates come out to book for April. Can I book now and change the ressie to an AP rate when they come out?

Yes book now and AP rate can always be applied later but at least your room will be booked. Keep in mind AP rates are not always for all resorts and for all views.
