The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY! Part 2

Holy Moly! I just finished (after four days of reading) all 5,160 posts! :faint: (Okay – so I just skimmed some of them, but hey, I made it to the end!

I guess I can be added to the list of those going in December 2007 as DH, DD and I will be at the lodge from 11/25 to 12/3! I am SO excited since this will be our first stay in the actual lodge! I am looking forward to my eight glorious nights!

DH and I fell in love with the lodge when we visited there in 1998. :lovestruc We found it by accident one evening as we were walking around the Contemporary grounds. We saw it across Bay Lake and decided to check it out, and BOY – were we ever impressed. We have made it a tradition to visit the WL lobby each time we’ve made a trip to “the world.” The closest we’ve come to staying there was once when we rented points for a 2-BR villa, which was awesome. This time, we’re actually in the lodge, and I am psyched! :cheer2:

This is an incredible thread, and I look forward to being a part of it! Thanks to everyone who is responsible for the upkeep of this thread - you're doing an awesome job!:thumbsup2

Are there any smoking areas around the resort? We have a standard room booked for our trip and I realize these are all non-smoking (better for our asthmatic). However, DSO smokes and knows she'll have to leave the room to do so. So, are there any smoking areas around the resort? If the only place you can smoke is in your room then we will have to develop a new battle plan.
Snowman :cold:

There are many areas your DSO may smoke at the Lodge. I know this might upset many or at lest some of the guest that might read this but here goes. Remember everyone this isn't meant to start a debate about smokers or non-smokers, this is just a question from a smoker that doesn't want to infringe on anyone else's rights but does have a few rights of their own.

In Florida you may smoke anywhere outdoors. That doesn't mean you should and there are smokers that will just do whatever they want even at the Parks.

The Lodge has several areas that are off to the side but out of the general public areas that have ash trays. The first is as you are approaching the main entrance left of the front doors, this area has several benches and ash trays.

As you walk into the lobby straight back there is a large deck that overlooks the courtyard with rockers and tables this area also has ash trays and she may smoke there.

On the 4th floor there are decks located both overlooking the front drive and another deck overlooking the courtyard toward the back of the lodge she may smoke at either location.

Outside Roaring Fork there is a bench with an ash tray available. She may smoke at any of the outside tables outside the Roaring Fork. She may smoke around the pools and at Trout Pass Pool Bar, behind the outside bar there is a large area with tables and chairs, they usually have ash trays on a few of the tables she may smoke there. I would use this area instead of the pool.

Now here is the one that is the kicker...and I would verify this information at check-in. She may also smoke outside on your balcony if she has her own ash tray. But she shouldn't do this if other guest are already out on their balconies. The door to the room must be kept close so no smoke enters your room. I know everyone maybe upset with this last statement but it's the law.

Ash trays are also locate at most every entrance to the Lodge.

She will have options and she will find a place out of the way, that shouldn't bother any other guest.

Thanks Beckie - she tries very hard to be a considerate smoker (no, that is not an oxymoron). I just want to be sure resort time will be as enjoyable for her as it is for the rest of us.

Is there a list of who will be at WL from September 29 through Oct. 8? Just want to know who to look for. I am sooooo excited!!!!

There isn't a list for October but it sounds like a GREAT idea as so many of us visit for MNSSHP and the Food & Wine Festival.

I'll be at the Lodge & BWV October 19-25, 2007 would you like to start/keep the list?

Beckie

Can you keep a secret? My dh doesn't know that I just bumped us up to Concierge level (now called Old Faithful Club?), for our birthdays at the end of May. He thinks we have a standard room. *grin* Shhh!!!

Any ideas from veterans on how to maximize our experience? :goodvibes

I wouldn't mind at all keeping a list. I'm just not sure how to go about it. Any suggestions?

Marna

I'll get it started for you then you can just copy and post any new names that are added between now and then. I only update the December list when someones post their dates or request to be added to it.

Beckie

I hope you don't mind me jumping in but we will be going 9/26-10/5. Can you add me to the list?

Does anyone know if the club den(ages 4-12) would allow a babysitter to come in and watch my 3.5 yr old? I would like to able to send my dd 6 yrs old and ds there so dh and I can have a little time together. I don't feel comfortable having a sitter in the room with them. kwim? If I can't do that do you think the sitter could take ds and dd maybe to the playground or arcade?

Thanks:goodvibes

While we have used the Cubs Den before, I'm just not sure about your request. I don't think so because your child is underage. While parents have stayed a short time until their children became accustomed to the new surroundings having an under aged child with a sitter there just isn't the norm. You could always call and ask. :confused3

Cub's Den:
Children's Entertainment Center
4:30p.m.-Midnight
Ages 4-12
$10.00 per hour
(Meal included)
Call WDW-DINE for reservations.
