I'm sure you'll be fine. :)

That's how I felt but my family and I and couldn't stand to be in WDW and not stay at the Poly so we did split stays with the YC and BC.
I really like YC & BC but the Poly is still our favorite. :goodvibes

If we weren't already doing a split stay, I'd do that in a second!! I'm using a 40% code at YC, but I might have even paid rack for the Poly. Hehe!!

When you go to SOG just take the Shady Shuttle to the end of the sidewalk and cross the street over to Poly. You can pretend your in extra part of Poly.:rotfl2: YC looks nice we stayed at BC and would go back in a flash.

I know!! I already said the short walk to the Poly will be a drop in the bucket compared to all the walking we'll do anyway. :thumbsup2 I really wanted to stay at the Beach Club, but they didn't have any rooms left with the code. We'll have only one child this time, so I'm thinking the YC might just be a good fit for us. It seems like a "grown-up" resort to me.

I love the Polynesian... I have stayed there three times in the past.... For my next reservation I am torn between the Boardwalk and the Poly..... I will hopefully make up my mind soon. It is just that they are both such great hotels. :wizard:

Nina - I am so sorry about your trip!!!

I am sure you will love the Yacht Club. Not the Poly, but still awesome Resort!:thumbsup2 I too thought I would prefer the Beach Club, but I knew I would be at a convention which was taking place at the Yacht Club and wanted to be as close as I could. Once I arrived, I realized that I actually preferred the Yacht Club.

Again, it is not the Poly, but I am sure you wouldn't be disappointed.:goodvibes

Yes, I can see going to 3 resorts would be a bit too much!
I think you're going to like the YC. :thumbsup2

We got back last night from our trip-- thanks to all for their advice. We had a wonderful time!!!!

We were in Tokelau, room 2924. It was delightful-- spacious with a balcony and a sideways view of the lagoon. My kids loved the water slide (I tried it a few times too, though I preferred sitting under the waterfall letting it massage my shoulders!) The refillable mugs were great, as I hit Captain Cooks each day for coffee and tea.

I would most definitely try to stay there again!!!

Any pictures from your room that you can share? I am going to be calling in a request soon. We stayed in Tokelau last Sept. we were second floor facing the pool.
Thank you.

I'm glad you liked it.:cool1: We got back on Sunday but didn't spend any time at the pools.

Did it rain alot yesterday? We lucked out with the weather for the week. It was great that it wasn't so hot and humid.
Did you get on Toy Story Mania? I couldn't bewlieve how crowded it was!!

We almost missed our flight at McArthur. There were so many people checkin in at 5:30 in the morning.

I am completely computer illiterate-- I have no idea of how to post a picture.

But we had garden view, and that our room had a sideways view of the lagoon. To be honest, that lagoon view wasn't as important as I thought it might be, since the gardens were so pretty.

Aliceacc glad you had fun. Aren't the gardenviews at the Polynesian absolutely lovely?

Aloha!

We've stayed at the Poly many times but I have questions about Kona Cafe -

How late do they serve breakfast?
What time do they start serving lunch?

I am trying to figure out what to do on our arrival day. We usually eat lunch at Kona Cafe after we check-in (first Disney meal!) but this year our flight lands at 9am and we are getting a towncar so I am guessing we'll be checking in between 10:00-10:30. I'm trying to decide if we just go to a late breakfast or wait and go to lunch. We want to hang out at the pool so I am trying to decide which would work better.

TIA!
Debbie

ETA: Nevermind - the information I needed was already provided. Thanks!

Kona Cafe:
Breakfast: 7:30am - 11:15am
Lunch: 12 noon - 2:45pm
Dinner: 5pm - 9:45pm

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. Sure do wish we could have some pix though. Maybe DH knows how to upload them? Anyhow, were you on the quiet pool side or the East side?

How long did it take to walk to Captain Cooks for refills?

QUESTON about the refill mugs....do you still have to go to the checkout to use the mugs or can you just walk up and refill whenever you want and not have to wait in any kind of line?

Aliceacc did you request Tokelou or was it the luck of the draw? We have requested Tokelou or Tahiti. Your room sounded wonderful! I'm glad you and your family had such a nice trip. We'll be at the Poly next month..I can't wait:yay:

After reading the Unofficial Guide, I requested the following of my travel agent: "If possible, we would love to be in the Tokelau longhouse, 3rd floor, rooms 3901- 3913 or 3939-3948, or the corresponding rooms on the second floor.
According to what I've read, that would mean a large room, a balcony,
and an off shot of being able to see the fireworks over the castle, all
for a Garden View price."

To be honest, if I were doing it again, I would request Tokelau, but not particular rooms. The sideways view of the lagoon didn't really add (or subtract) from our enjoyment, and the extra things might have gotten in the way of us getting the balcony I really did want. I think I would just request 2nd or 3rd floor Tokelau and let them take it from there.

The walk to Captain Cooks, the Great Ceremonial Hall or the Volcano pool was probably 3 minutes (though I walk like a New Yorker. Your mileage may vary :) ) The walk to the TTC for the Epcot monorail was probably 10 minutes. (It would have been much shorter had I walked it alone, but I was always with the whole crew.)

And for the refills, you just walk in, grab your coffee( or whatever) and walk out. FYI- they had mugs with 2 different handle colors. I was blue, Peter was black. It made things easier, since I drink tea and he drinks coffee.

I read alot about pin codes, but don't know what they are - Can anyone enlighten me?

TIA! :thumbsup2

Pin codes are a little bit of Disney magic that some of us are lucky enough to get.

Either through some complex mathematical alogrithm or sheer luck, Disney sends some people codes for a discount off their accomodations. Ours was a whopping 40% off (so we were able to stay at the Poly.) They're normally for limited dates, sometimes for particular resorts.

Some things that MAY help your odds in receiving one are ordering the Chase Disney Visa, ordering the trip planning DVD or playing with an assortment of options on the reservations site.

Finally made it to the end of the thread! Lots of great info here.

We are planning for Jan 2009, starting on MLK day thru Saturday. DD#1 9yo wanted CR - tower MK view, DD#2 6yo wanted WL with bunks like the last time we were there, I wanted AKL club level and DH wanted Poly. DH thinks he won. ;) But, after looking at this thread, I think we are all winners!

I have my ADRs. I still have a few things to try to book (not time yet) but they are Christmas gifts, so I can't post them here.

Can't wait to try the Tonga toast.

We almost missed our flight at McArthur. There were so many people checkin in at 5:30 in the morning.

Yesterday was incredible!!! It was a misty drizzely rain for most of the morning. Disney opened all 4 major parks at 8 am (there was a message from the desk informing us the night before) just in case they had to close early.

We got to the MK at 8 am, along with maybe 200 other people. We walked onto every single ride all morning. In the first 40 minutes we did 5 rides!! (Peter Pan TWICE, Small World, Dumbo and the Indy Speedway.) Indy had a 5 minute wait, everything else was totally open.

We went back to check out of the Poly at 10, and were back in the MK by noon-- still no crowds. It was absolutely our best day of touring. We wore ponchos for a while, then took them off, then put them back on... But the rain was never a downpour the whole time we were there. What a wonderful day!!!
