I booked my Poly trip- so far away! I booked GV CL because what they offer in the lounge looks great. I am a Heinenken beer fan!! I was going to book the regular dining plan but figure with Club Level access this might of been too much food So I booked the quick service dining plan instead. Did I make a wise choice? Is there really alot of food offered and will my 2 teenage sons enjoy it??

So Concierge (Club Level) is a separate check in? Thanks for the answers as I am a Poly Newbie!!

Next time we go....we will stay at the Poly - no question in my mind - and we will book Club Level ( I am going to try not to pay for MK view - but our room was so the bomb that I'm not sure I'll be able to restrain myself) - and we will probably not book the dining plan.

We had the plan this past trip and it was fine. But in the future (I am trying to talk DH into next summer...) we will probably skip the dining plan. If you haven't been to Tikiman's site, check it out - he has great details for concierge - darn it won't let me post a link - anyone else have it??

We are vegetarians and had sticky rice, cheese, crackers, veggies and dip and hummous the night we ate dinner there. It depends if you are a picky eater - i guess. We thought it was great. My 6 year old was happy with the uncrustables, cheeses and veggies.

Breakfast was bagels, breads, spreads, cereals, fruit, juices and coffees - plenty for us.

Also, the dining plan IS a lot of food - especially if you are not into desserts...and we were too hot to eat much on a couple of the days.

Not sure exactly what you get in the quick serve plan but I think we would be fine doing it that way - and then we could add a character meal or 2 and dinner at my favorite - France - and we'd be perfectly happy.

I have a 20 y/o son and he has loved it since he was a 6 y/o. The kid can eat and loves the food offered at the Polynesian. From his morning feast at breakfast to his afternoon cookies, then on to evening service, and a mad dash from a park to desserts--he enjoys it all. The rest of us find the food great as well!.

We are not fans of the dining plans in any shape, but that is just us. I'm not sure you really need any type of food plan with concierge service, but only you know how your teenagers eat so you are the best judge. We typically eat our large meal at lunch and generally opt for table service. Our quick bites, if any, are later at night in the parks before the evening shows.

An yep, there is a private check-in for concierge guests. You simply tell bell services upon your arrival and they will direct you from there.

I just want to say thanks to everyone for all the advice, tips, answers, etc. We leave on Sat. I can't believe it's finally here!!!

Hi All!

If you could call it that--there are those complimentary pouches in the room for a two cup pot. I'm still not sure I would call it coffee--then again, the Nescrape` isn't either. :rotfl:

My stays at Poly :beach: have always been CL. The private check-in is wonderful. You are seated in a comfortable chair and there are other chairs or sofas for the rest of your party to relax while you check in. They even put out cookies and juice:drinking1 while you're waiting for their computers to check you in. The CMs give you your leis and a library full of info. And if your room isn't ready, your bags are already there and you have immediate access to the lounge where you'll almost always find something to munch on. And juices and soda is available always. A word about the dining plans. I have never purchased one. That's not to say that the offerings in the lounge are enough to fill my eating needs. I do so love a good full meal. But, I definitely don't spend as much money on food as I would be if I was paying for a dining plan.
Here's what I consider another plus....I have never made a dining reservation in advance of my trips. When I stay at Poly CL, all I have ever had to do is call the concierge desk (the one in the CL bldg) or see a concierge personally and tell them where I want to eat. I have never gotten turned down! :tink:
The CL concierge seem to know who to call and what to say and I have dined at some great places within an hour of requesting. We even did Hoop De Doo Revue :dance3: within 3 hours of my request and I've been told that that is an impossibility. It seems that for Poly concierge, nothing is impossible.
Maybe I've just been lucky:shamrock: But, I'm sure that these people specialize in pixie dust.:tink:
Now, I'm not suggesting that anyone not make advance ressies. But it seems that whatever I have been too lazy or uninformed to do, the concierge has always come to my rescue. Afterall, isn't that what concierge is paid to do?
I hope everyone is having a magical day!

This is definitely something to think about. My sons are 15 and 19. The 15 year old is the one that can eat you out of house and home (he is 6 foot 5 inches and weighs 240 lbs.) The last time we were on the regular dining plan it was actually too much food- having a sitdown meal every night when they would of settled for counter service for lunch and dinner. I have some time to think about this as you can see from my ticker!!

Any one else have thoughts on this matter?

Yes they have coffee in the room. If thats what you want to call it. When we go to Disney we bring our own coffee. Nescafe is gross and the stuff in the room is too. Kona has great coffee so you can always run up there in the morning.

Tikiman's site is down. :guilty: Looks like he needs extra funding to keep it going so for the time being, we're outta luck.

So I was just playing with numbers- yea I am an accountant. The quick service plan next year is $29.99 a day per person. I looked at some menus of where we would like to eat, our usual quick services places. On the new quick service plan you get 2 counter service meals per person per day. The cost of just paying out of pocket for these would be less and they average 9 to 10 dollars a day per person. I think with the extra food that CL offers we may not be hungry enough to eat that much- maybe one counter service a day so I won't be adding any dining plan to my trip. I will just make ressies for Thanksgiving at one of the nice sitdown restaurants and pay out of pocket. I can only see us eating that dinner and may once at the ESPN Club our whole trip!! Sorry if I confused anyone.

HI! What a great idea! Why didn't I think of that?
